96 of Eden, NC passed Tuesday, September 5, 2023. - -The family will receive friends from 12:30 p. m. - 1:00 p. m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. Homegoing service will begin at 1:00 pm with interment following in the Hamlin Cemetery, Eden, NC. Ethel May Barnes, a beloved member of our family, passed away peacefully at the blessed age of 96 years. though not bound by blood, she was a cherished presence in the Brooks and Armour family for over 60 years, filling our days with love, laughter and unwavering support. Her memory will forever be etched in our hearts. One of the most remarkable qualities about Ethel was her capacity of compainship. She was not only a friend but a steadfast presence in our lives. She most recently resided with Mother Shirley Brooks for the pas 30 years whee she watched our children grow into adults and reveled in the blessing of seeing their children flourish. For years, Ethel was a member of Refreshing Springs Church of God in Christ in Long Branch, NJ. In her later years, Ethel relocated to North Carolina where she became a cherished member of Galilee Pentocostal Holiness Church in Reidsville, NC. As we celebrate her life, let us remember the joy she brought us. Ethel's memory will live on in the stories we tell and the hearts she touched. Until we meet again, we will miss our dear friend.
