Alvin Wayne McCullough, age 71, passed away from a long illness on Thursday, December 7, 2023 in Fresno, California. A native and lifetime resident of Madera he was the youngest of four born to Ben and Ida McCullough. He graduated from Madera High in 1970 and attended Reedley College. He began his construction career learning the value of hard work while working for his dad's plastering company. He later went on to earn his general contractor's license and built many homes in Madera during his early career. In addition, he also ran a plastering contracting business and did many jobs in Madera and throughout the state. He then went on to run the Carpenter Shop at the Valley State Prison for Women and retired in 2014. Wayne married Lauren Green, in 1972 and together they raised three children. He always had a love of horses and team roping, but those activities were soon replaced with many years of coaching baseball and softball teams. As they transitioned to school sponsored sports, he never missed a game or cheer competition. Later, when his kids were in high school, he became very involved in the Interact Club, taking many trips to Mexico to build playgrounds along with the annual Interact Haunted Houses in Madera. His love of rodeo and horses was reignited and pursued once again after the kids graduated and went on to college. He continued competing in team roping events and rodeos up until just a couple of years ago. One of his greatest loves in life were his family and most definitely his grandchildren. Many great memories were made with them during camping trips and annual beach vacations. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Ida and his sister, Sharon Bispham. He is survived by his loving wife Lauren, son Joe McCullough and wife Michelle; son Mark McCullough and wife Natasha; daughter Megan Imperatrice and husband Chris; and seven grandchildren; Wyatt and Logan McCullough; Taylor and Cole McCullough; and Addyson, Carter, and Mason Imperatrice, as well as his sister Karon Renwick and brother Ben McCullough, and many nieces and nephews. He was the 3rd of 4 children, two sons and two daughters. After Christopher graduated from Lakewood High School in 1977, he went on to study business at Long Beach City College and then attended Long Beach State University where he graduated with his bachelors degree. From a very early age, Christopher had a passion for investing in relationships and helping people. Entrepreneurially minded with a heart for community, his deep desire for the wellbeing of others is seen woven throughout his personal life, as well as, in every one of his career endeavors. From working in the respiratory therapy department of Long Beach Community Hospital, to providing job opportunities through his courier business with Pitney Bowes, to creating delivery services that aided the community with fresh groceries, everywhere he worked he created lasting relationships with both coworkers and customers. Though never anticipating it, he found himself working in the automotive industry as a salesperson, which he would continue while also branching out to online sales management for nearly two decades, until his passing. In 1999, Christopher met Traci Augulis while working together at Saddleback Church in Orange County, CA. Christopher and Traci joined their families in matrimony in May of 2000, each with a daughter before having two more. As Christopher enjoyed people, he also enjoyed nature. From drives through the mountains and fishing trips, to searching tide pools at the shore, or simply tending to the foliage at home, Christopher loved being surrounded by life. He loved showing up for his daughters, always making time to cheer them on at their extracurricular activities. Supporting their passions was his passion, wanting them to achieve their goals and encouraging them to dream big. He taught them about the importance of both faith and fun, in the good times and the bad. Christopher was predeceased by his parents Kenneth Kay Nielsen and Aralmae Alice (Cody) Nielsen. He is survived by his wife, Traci (Augulis) Nielsen, daughters Katherine Nielsen, Ashley Nielsen, Cambrie Nielsen, and Rylee Nielsen, siblings Kirsten Slack, Eric Nielsen, and Heidi Robbins, and his family's beloved pets, Evie, Cina, and Suki.
