Graduang from Luling High School in 1954, he went on to the University of Texas at Ausn, and later to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. Engineering was his first academic love, and studying Eschatology was his second. Dewey was as sharp as a tack even unl the end, and keenly knew of his impending and rapidly arriving meeng with our Lord. He was happiest working on his recently printed book, "The Esoteric Eschatology of Man. " This book took him nearly 40+ years to write, and finally, finally, finally it was collated together this summer and printed in September; and to the delight in his eye, this was his final epitaph to this World. There are many stories to tell of this man, but books and books cannot contain the life that he had. He held in there as anyone could and died of simply. . . 'old age' in Fredericksburg, Texas. This man will be missed, thought of, and the valued me with him will be relished. He was a beloved brother, son, father, and friend. He has one surviving brother Kenneth Erwin Lightsey, and two surviving sons John Creston Lightsey and Ross Frederick Lightsey, Senior, as well as four grandchildren: Christopher David Osborne, Lauren EF Niles (Lightsey), Leanne Lynn Lightsey, and Ross Frederick Lightsey, Junior. He also had a beloved and most-trusted daughter-in-law, Dr. April Joy Lightsey. Actually, he trusted her more so than anyone else. Nevertheless, we all have gleaned quite a bit of wisdom from this loving and caring man who walked the Earth for 87 years.Show more

Loyal, Reliable, Strong and Brave are all words that describe a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. Sidney Allen Bernhard passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, at 68 years old. Born in Fredericksburg, Texas, on August 5, 1955, Sid was the son of Charles and Carlette Bernhard. He was the third born to a family of seven boys. He was a 1973 graduate of Winston Churchill High School. Soon after, Sid earned his real estate brokers license and opened Bernhard Realty. Quickly he realized his true calling was in the concrete and home building business. It was then that he founded Slabco, Inc. and later Bernhard Custom Homes. Sid married the love of his life, Karla Denise Bernhard, on August 6, 1983, in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas. Sid and Karla made Boerne their home in 1983 and began raising their family and growing his business. The simplicity of sitting in a deer blind or calling deer in from his back porch brought so much joy to Sid throughout his life. An even bigger joy in his life was when his four beloved grandchildren joined him in his passions. To see them share his love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life, was a source of immeasurable happiness for him. Sid was a man of his word and never met a stranger. His wisdom was as straightforward as the man himself; "keep it simple.
