Lucy Snider

Lucy Snider

Age - 93

November 27, 2023

Lucy (Norma) Foster Snider, age 93, passed away Nov. 24, 2023 at her home. Services will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Coaling Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Coaling Cemetery. Visitation will be at 11:00 am. Lucy was preceded in death by her son Tommy, husband Tom, mother and father, Norma and Warren Foster, and siblings, Warrene Norris, Sarah Hicks, Marvin Foster, Charley Foster, Wayne Foster, and Jean Hyche. She is survived by daughters Cheri Snider and Nancy Snider, and son Glynn Snider (Sharon), and brother Roy Foster. She is also survived by grandchildren Michael Whitsett, Luci Duco-Moore (Zeb), Casey Denson (Jeremy), Emily Andrews (Matt), Katie Novitski (Jason), and 8 great grandchildren. She left an imprint on her corner of the world that lives on in all who call her family or friend. She loved in deeds more than words. Her love was a practical love for the ages. She faced death with that same practical love. It held no fear, for she knew her salvation was sure in Jesus Christ. Love was an action verb for Lucy. She started this life steeped in the love of her own mother, Norma. When she was 10 years old, just on the eve of World War II, Norma died in childbirth, leaving 8 children who banded together to raise each other. That background forged a bond between them that would endure through all their lives and form the basis of the extended family for all 21 of their children. In true Greatest Generation fashion, Lucy was seemingly endless on talent. She sewed, cooked, cleaned, nursed, ran a garden, worked and ministered, not only for her family but also scores that she encountered along the journey. In her career, she worked at Perry Creamery and drove a school bus. But most of her working years were spent at the Post Office. She worked just about every job they had before finally retiring while working nights at age 72. Around age 80, she took up painting and nailed it. Who knew? Lucy strove always to love God with all her heart, soul, and mind, and love her neighbor as herself. She spent 93 years being made perfect. On Friday afternoon, the day after Thanksgiving, she nailed that one too.Show more
