Esperanza Garcia Aleman, 92, of Big Spring, passed away at Scenic Mountain Medical Center on Thursday, September 7, 20223. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, September 11th at Myers & Smith Funeral Home, Big Spring. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10th with the family receiving friends from 4 pm to 6 pm. Esperanza was born in Big Spring, December 16, 1930. During her working years she was a caretaker. She had worked for Nurses Unlimited among her employers. In her free time, she loved to work on Penny Press Word Searches, and was an avid Chuck Norris fan. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Although she often experienced loss in her life, she remained steadfast in her faith. She is survived by her grandchildren; Marisa Franco, Jonathan Morales, Fred E. Morales III, Raymond Ramirez, Arthur Morales, and Michael Morales; her sisters, Rosa Doporto of Ft. Worth, TX, and Connie Torres of San Antonio; her brother, Leonard Garcia of Odessa; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Leonardo Garcia and Tiodosa Rodriguez; her first husband, Fred E. Morales, Sr, her second husband, Jimmy Aleman; three sons, Fred E. Morales, Jr. , Arthur Morales, and David Morales; and three sisters, Priscilla Marquez, Silvia Alvarez, and Socorro Casarez. Our sweet momma, Ruelene Wyatt Porter, 86, of Big Spring, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, peacefully in her sleep. Ruelene was born on May 8, 1937 to Ruel C. Wyatt and Modehn Williams in Hobbs, NM. After graduating from Whitharral High School, she went on to Wayland Baptist University on a vocal scholarship. She started her first job at the Law offices of John A. Coffee as a secretary. She then went on to Elliott & Waldron Abstract Company as an abstractor and finished her career as an Escrow Officer with Big Spring Abstract & Title Company. In 1956 she met Bennie L. Porter on a blind date in Big Spring, Texas and they were married that year on December 28th. They went on to have two children, Jana Lynn and Nancy Ann Porter. She was a long-time member of College Baptist Church. She often brought messages in song with her high sweet soprano voice and was a Sunday School teacher for numerous years with the youth dept. After Ruelene retired she spent her time loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and was a whiz with a crochet hook. She loved staying in her mountains in Cloudcroft, and Ruidoso, NM, camping with Ann Walker & Vivian Harbin, her special camping buddies. She often ran Bernie ragged with shopping at garage sales or estate sales every week. She always found a "pretty" as she would call it. She loved running around or playing cards and dominos with her special side-kicks, Joann Loudamy, Johnita Hinton, & Estella Ruiz. She loved and thought highly of these special friends. She was involved in school activities with the girls serving as Moss Elementary PTA President and also with the Big Spring High School Steer Band during Campus Revue performances and yearly tours. She also served her community on the Northside Community Center Board of Directors for a number of years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bennie L. Porter. She is survived by her sister, Jeanette Phillips of Woodward, OK; and her two children, Jana Lynn and Nancy Ann Porter of Big Spring, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristi Hobbs of Artesia, NM, Weldon Gibbs of Big Spring, TX, Stacy Gibbs (Shannon) of Greenwood, MO, Heather Vaughn of Big Spring, TX, Paden Black (Kristy) of Big Spring, TX, and Mylia Daniels (Caleb) of Rockford, IL. She is survived by her great grandchildren (her special angels) Brianna Gibbs and Sara Gibbs of Denton, TX, Josh Gibbs of Greenwood, MO, Celeste (Logan) Outland of University City, MO, Emmalyn Black and Kallen Black of Big Spring, TX. A special thank you went to Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Big Spring, TX and April with Interim Health Care in Big Spring, TX. She though highly of y'all and we appreciate the love and care you gave her. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 30, 2023 at College Baptist Church with the Rev. Christine L. Moses, 91, met her Savior face to face on November 22, 2023. She had an amazing walk with the Lord, trusting Him over every detail of her life all the way Home. What a glorious entrance she must have made. Chris was born in Bertram, Texas, to John & Della Riggs, and spent her childhood in San Saba. She married the love of her life, Ben L. Moses, on December 20, 1952 in Austin, Texas. The couple lived in Maine, Oklahoma and England before the USAF sent them to Abilene in 1959. Chris was a very active member of Trinity Baptist Church where she served faithfully for 64 years. She was employed as church secretary for several years. She later went to work for the AISD, where she was school secretary at Lincoln and Franklin middle schools. Chris proudly told everyone that her greatest accomplishment in this life were her children. She is survived by her son, Steve (Paula) of Big Spring; her daughter, Janet of Loganville, Georgia; two grandsons: Ben (Anne) of Dallas, and Ryan (Lilly) of Winter Garden, FL. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Hudson, Riley, and Camden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; her parents, John & Della Riggs; brothers: Garland and Denny Riggs; and a sister, Ida Herrington. Donna Knight Reid, 89, died Sunday, November 19, 2023. Visitation at Myers & Smith Funeral Home will be held Friday, November 24th with the family receiving friends from 10 until 12 noon. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel. Born May 16, 1934 in Clinton, Iowa she was the daughter of the late William Roy Turner and Marie Bohnsen Turner. Donna had lived in Chicago, Illinois and Odessa, Texas prior to moving to Big Spring in 1962. She had been a member of Full Gospel Fellowship. She was a graduate of the Big Spring Police Departments Citizen's Police Academy and had served with the Volunteers in Police Service. She received a voluntary service award by VAMC for her 11 years of service. She also was a volunteer for the Howard County Fair. Previously she had served in the Texas State Guard and had also worked at Furr's Cafeteria as a floor supervisor. Donna is survived by two sons; Mike Sizenbach, and Danny Sizenbach (Dolores) of Big Spring; a step-son, Arlie Knight, Jr. of El Reno, OK; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Donna was preceded in death by three husbands, Robert Sizenbach, Arlie Knight, Sr. , and Ferrell Reid; a grandson, Brien Lee Sizenbach; a great-grandson, Brayden Sizenbach; and three daughters-in-law, Sue Sizenbach, Debra Aann Cline, and Jackie Knight. Margaret Jo (Bradshaw) Ray left to her heavenly home on November 14,2023 in Celina, TX. She was born February 9, 1934 in Olney, TX to Joe Neal Bradshaw and MayOla (Ledbetter) Bradshaw. She had two siblings: Dorothy Lou (Bradshaw) Barrington and Alvin Neal Bradshaw. All her immediate family preceded her in death. The family lived on their farm in Borden County until she married her best friend, Frank Edgar Ray in 1951 in Lamesa TX. They moved to Big Spring and Mom went to work in the Courthouse and Dad to Cosden Refinery (as it was called then) where they both stayed until retirement. Margaret worked in the courthouse for 46 years with the majority of time in the County Clerk's office. She was elected County Clerk after her boss, Pauline S. Petty retired. She was a well-respected County Clerk and served in several capacities on the Board as well as a term as President of the State of Texas District and County Clerk's Association. She loved being a public servant for all the visitors to her office and an advisor to all the clerks throughout the state. She is survived by 2 daughters: Deborah Jo Ray of Celina, TX and Michele Yvonne (Ray) Pendley of San Antonio, TX; 3 grandchildren: Joey Ray (wife, Jodi Ann), Jenny Mills (husband, Kyle) all of Celina, TX and Austin Pendley of San Antonio, TX. Also, 7 great grandchildren: Mason, Mitchell, Hannah, Gigi, Merritt, Brae and Keigan. Family was so important to Margaret. She loved each and wanted to be with them as much as possible. Fernando Alvarez, 51, died Thursday, November 9, 2023. Visitation will be 9 AM until 9 PM Sunday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 AM Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel. Fernando was born on May 11, 1972 in Herford, TX to Dolores & Ferando Alvarez, Sr. He spent most of his life in Big Spring. Fernando played all sports in high school and was nicknamed "the terminator. " After graduating high school, he went straight into the Army, while in the Army he earned serval degrees. He was a trucker driver, working hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed being with his family and loved his nieces & nephews as his own. He was very close to his brother. His family was very proud of him, coming from a poor family he made it. He was a strong believer in God. Fernando is survived by his brother: Jesus Alvarez of Big Spring; 2 sisters: Rosemary Alvarez of Big Spring & San Juanita Villegas of Big Spring; nieces & nephews: Mikey Alvarado, Eddie Joe Alvarado. Aurora (Lolita) Paredez ReynaAurora P. Reyna, 89, lifelong resident of Big Spring, Texas was called home on Friday, November 10, 2023. Viewing hours will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 9:00 a. m. -7:00 p. m. with the rosary starting at 7:00 p. m. at Myers and Smith Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 10:00 a. m. at Holy Trinity Parish Church. Lolita was born on February 27, 1934 in Big Spring, Texas to Eusebio and Aurora (Duron) Paredez. Growing up she attended schools in Big Spring. She worked housekeeping at Motel 6 and with several local families, and waitressed at Cokers Restaurant. She loved to play bingo, listen to music and attend dances, especially when her son-in-law, Richard, would perform, work in the yard, cook amazing meals and making tortillas for everyone, and loved to watch The Price Is Right and other game shows, her "novellas", and I Love Lucy. She enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with her granddaughters, Cecily and Leah. Throughout her life, she was Lolita to some but Grandma to so many others. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Hilario (Richard) of Big Spring; four sisters: Ernestine Garcia of Houston; Eloisa Negrete of San Antonio; Irene Arellano (Dan) of Colorado; Bertha Chavez of Buda and her sister-in-law, Vidala Paredez of North Richland Hills. Four grandchildren: Cecily Paredez (Leah) of Colorado; Clarissa Phillips (Dean) and Jacob Cruz both of California; and Brandon Hilario of Big Spring. Five great grandchildren: Tyran Sealy (Autumn) of Big Spring; Theran Sealy of Los Angeles; Maddison Cruz of California; Anastacia Hilario of Big Spring; and Dean Phillips III of California. She is also survived by three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters Yolanda Reyna and Lisa Ann Cruz, two nephews, and her brothers Eleno, Esequio and wife Alicia, and Johnny Paredez. Pallbearers are Richard Hilario, Brandon Hilario, Ty Sealy, Theran Sealy, Chris Duron and Manuel Hilario. Honorary Pallbearers include all her nephews, nieces, and cousins.
