Ernest Robert Mickel "Ernie" Ernest was born October 7, 1931 in Altoona, PA. He is the son of Robert E. Mickel and Clara Stewart; he passed peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, October 3rd 2023. in addition to his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Donna (Campell) in 2018; his grandson Anthony Burnett, as well as all his siblings. Ernie is survived by his children Jeff (Denise) Mickel, and Norma Krider; step children Cindy (John) Jackson, and Dolly (Forrest) Vanderpool; sister-in-law Alice Still; nephew Bill (Michele) Bolt; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends Jim and Debbie Bower - including his special friend Sue, and all his friends at Able 2 and Shear Knowledge. Ernie served in U. S. Navy from 1952- 1954, during the Korean Conflict. After his time with the military, he spent a career as a carpenter, handyman, all around jack of all trades. His proficient skills led to several retirement dates, ultimately bringing him to work at Able 2 for 22 years, after retirement. He was an avid hunter and loved his tractor. Most of all, he could always lift your day, and did what he could to bring a smile out. The family would like to thank the staff at Arnot Ogden Medical ICU for all the special care they gave to Ernest. Following his wishes, a Celebration of Ernie's Life will be held in the spring, with committal and interment, with Donna, in Woodlawn National Cemetery with military honors.

Francis L. Morris It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis L. Morris of Horseheads, NY, who passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Fran was predeceased by his parents, Francis I. and Esther (Ostrander) Morris, his son, Mark Morris who passed away April 20, 2014 and his canine companion, "Caesar". Fran is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Maureen "Mickey" (Cobb) Morris; seven beloved children: Tom (Sue) Morris of Kathleen, GA; with their children, Jennifer, Kyra and Michael; Kathy (Morris) Zeigler of Lakewood, WA; with her children, Joe and Matt; Patrick (Becky) Morris of D'Hanis, TX; with their children, P. J. , Alysha and J. J. ; Sue (Kevin) Cook of Elmira, NY; with their children, Keenan, Colin and "Wilson"; Ann (Zane) Brown of Elmira, NY; with their children, Nate, Zalayna and Zane; Cindy (Morris) Blair of Rockford, IL; with her children, Joshua and Michelle; Christoher Morris of Warrensburg, MO; with his children, Heather and Andrew; along with 13 great grandchildren. Fran started his career with the NYS Department of Corrections at Sing Sing, Attica and finally retired from the Elmira Reformatory after 26 years of dedicated service. For 40 years, Fran was a meat cutter in various grocery stores in the Southern Tier of New York, but mainly in Elmira. When the Morris family lived in Elmira on Liberty Street, Fran was the icon of that street. In the winter months, Fran would plow the entire neighborhood. He was a handy man, a jack of all trades and his motto was, "if he couldn't fix it, it wasn't broke". He loved the outdoors and enjoyed gardening. Because of his meat cutting abilities, he would often process deer for all of his friends. Family and friends are invited to visit Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake St. at Washington Ave. , Elmira on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm to celebrate Fran's life. Judith F. Buckley, 82 Is now in the loving arms of Jesus on December 1st, 2023. Judy was a 54 year resident of Pine Circle, Horseheads. She was a graduate of Edison High school, Corning Community College, Elmira college and Mansfield University. She worked as a Special Ed teacher in Dryden, NY and Broad Street in Horseheads, NY. Judy also was a teacher's aide for many years at Gardner Rd School prior to completing her education. She impacted many lives with her patience and dedication to her students. Judy had many hobbies. She loved reading, gardening, restoring furniture and genealogy. Judy was a member of Friends of the Cross Christian Church for 32 years. She had a strong faith and love for the Lord that she shared with any and all who would listen. Her faith was unwavering. She loved her kids and grandkids deeply and supported them in all their endeavors. Judy is survived by son Michael (Katy) Buckley, daughter Kathleen (Gale) Stermer "K. C. "; grandchildren Megan (Andrew) Hawk, Jacob (Morgan) Stermer, Patrick Buckley, and Rachel Stermer; great grandchildren Abigail, and Elisa; siblings Glenna Rosplock, her oldest sister and best friend, Rosamond (Reggie) Piatt, John (Judy) Sykes. Kim Treen, and Greg (Debbie) Sykes; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; sister-in-law Sue (Jerry) Monahan, brother-in-law Mark Buckley. She was predeceased by her parents Ferris and Beatrice Sykes; brothers-in-law Robert Rosplock, and Karl Treen; and her ex-husband Timothy Buckley. Arrangements are entrusted to Barber Funeral Home. James Francis Cronin Age 86 of Middletown , RI formerly of Horseheads , NY passed away on Tuesday November 21, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born April 21, 1937 in Manhattan , NY the son of the late John William Cronin and Teresa Julia Torpey Cronin. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Providence College. Following college , Jim was commissioned into The U. S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant on June 2 , 1959 and retired from The US Army Reserves as a LT. COLONEL. Jim married his first wife Anne Frances Hall Cronin , on February 6, 1960 and she pre-deceased him on February 1, 2007. He was also pre-deceased by his brother Jack Cronin. Jim was a long-time communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY. He loved the Boston Red Sox and coached Horseheads Little League , Horseheads Babe Ruth , American Legion Baseball, St. Mary's CYO Basketball , Horseheads Youth Basketball. Jim also served as the President of Chemung County CYO , and was a member of The Ancient Order of Hiberians in Elmira, NY. Jim was a retired Sales Director of Lighting Products/Senior Sales Account Manager for 36 years for Corning Inc. in Corning, NY and recognized as a Distinguished Associate. Jim was a member of The Elmira Heights American Legion Post # 154 and The Horseheads American Legion Post # 442 . He married his second wife, Shirley Zimmer Fife Cronin on September 12 , 2009. Jim loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Jim is survived by his wife Shirley Fife Cronin ; his beloved children: Kathleen Cronin Richards (Paul) of Webster , NY , Kevin Cronin of Horseheads, NY , Michael Cronin of Horseheads, NY , Stephen Cronin (Helena) of Horseheads, NY , Carol Anne "Pixie" Cronin Brennan (Jason) of Ithaca, NY , Mark Cronin (Tammi) of Horseheads, NY , and John H. Cronin of Riverview, Florida ; cherished grandchildren: Emily Richards Markle (Kevin) of Penfield , NY and Tyler Richards of Webster, NY , Hayley Cronin of Pittsford, NY , Grace Anne Cronin of Horseheads, NY , Hannah Pearl Brennan and Jack Cronin Brennan both of Ithaca, NY and a host of loving and caring family and friends.
