Ernest Mari, Jr , 90, of Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Saturday afternoon, October 7, 2023 He was the beloved husband of Louise (Santangini) Mari Born November 26, 1932, in Bristol, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ida (Capriotti) Mari Ernest had many interests, such as photography, music, and lighthouses as well as taking pictures for the wine club He worked many years as an engineer at Taco, Inc Ernest proudly served our country during the Korean War, serving with the US Army In addition to his wife of 68 years, he leaves his children, Sandra (Frank) Weeks, Michael (Leona) Mari and Carol (Robert) Rebussini; his grandchildren, Brian (Laura) Weeks, Dr Craig Weeks, Erica Rebussini Esq , and Robert (Alyssa) Rebussini Jr ; and his great grandchildren, Leonard Weeks and Luke Weeks Ernest was the brother of Alice Langton of Virginia, Anna Capizzi of Pennsylvania, and the late Susan Alfonsi He also leaves many nieces and nephews, friends and family He was the brother-in-law of Rita and Jake Bedrosian Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, October 12, at 11am in St George Maronite Church, Cranston Burial with military honors will follow at St Ann Cemetery Calling hours are respectfully omitted In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are greatly appreciated to the MS Dream Center of Rhode Island, 300 Toll Gate Rd # 104, Warwick, RI 02886 Please share memories and condolences at www WoodlawnRI com To to the family or in memory of Ernest Mari, Jr , please

Melody D. Cook, age 64, of Cranston, passed away Monday, December, 4, 2023. She was the former wife, and continued friend, of Wayne R. Cook. Melody continued her education after high school, receiving her Associates degree in Child Development and Human Services. She went onto a career in Accounts Receivable with Mr. Messenger, with whom she worked with for over 20 years. A free spirit, she enjoyed living her life care free. In her down time, she was often found cheering on the Boston Bruins, enjoying her Dunkin Donuts, or playing Bingo on her phone. Her most cherished time however, was spent with her children and grandchildren. In addition to Wayne, she is survived by their three children, Melissa Ferrante and her husband Michael, Wayne R. Cook Jr. and his wife Ashley, and Matthew Cook; seven beloved grandchildren, Serina Hallbauer, Andrew Hallbauer Jr. , Jordan Ferrante, Mason Cook, Everly Cook, Tristan Shaw, and Lucas Shaw; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews. Mack Sackie Makor (72) of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away suddenly on November 19, 2023. Known to his loved ones as "Big Brother '' and Kna'togbah, He was born on August 11th, 1951, in Farvey, Bong County, Liberia, to Gormah Makor and Cammue Sanghapu Kartoe. He was the first child born to the couple. Mack's life was a testament of resilience and faith. A man of unwavering dedication, he worked at Meller Optics for 43 years. His coworkers ceased to be ordinary workmates and over the years they became his second family. His commitment in his faith led him to St. Paul's Evg. Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher, introducing many to its embrace. His unwavering support for Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Charity in Liberia showcased his dedication to uplifting communities and fostering a spirit of compassion. Mack's legacy lies in his devotion to both immediate and extended family. His home was a beacon of Liberian warmth, welcoming all. His impact, filled with humility, kindness, and joy, will be dearly missed. Mack is survived by his wife Jean, three sons Kartoe, Kwayah, Sackie, nine grandchildren, along with his siblings and many nieces and nephews. Louis Schiapo Sr

Louis "Lou" A. Schiapo, Sr. , 80 of Cranston passed away peacefully on Saturday December 2, 2023, with his family by his side. Born in Cranston he was the son of the late Bambino and Rose (Cole) Schiapo. He was the beloved husband of Charlotte (Evans) Schiapo for 56 years. Lou was employed by the City of Cranston, in Building Maintenance for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Colombus, a member and a Past President of the St. Mary's Feast Society, also holding every other executive board position throughout the years. He was the creator of the outdoor candlelight Mass that was held every year to start the St. Mary's Feast, he also was a past Parade Marshall. An avid gardener, his summer vegetable gardens provided many great meals that were shared with family and friends. Lou's family was his heart and soul, he looked forward to the family gatherings for the St. Mary's Feast and Christmas Eve. He was hands down the best grandpa, he did everything for his two granddaughters, if they needed anything he was right there for them. Besides his devoted wife Charlotte, he leaves his two loving children Sandra Maddalena of Cranston, and Louis A. Schiapo, Jr. and his wife Suzie of Warwick. He was the absolute best grandpa to Tayla Maddalena (Kenny Calise), and Krista Maddalena. Janice Harrall

Age - 81

Janice Proulx Harrall, 81, of Cranston, died peacefully on December 2, 2023 surrounded by her family. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was born in 1942 in Putnam, CT and, in 1950, moved to RI, where she graduated from Hope High School, Class of 1960. In 1962, she earned an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Rhode Island. She married Robert Harrall in 1963. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Upon completing a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Social Work at the University of Rhode Island in the early eighties, she left the dental profession to embark on her passion for advocating for the underrepresented and working to alleviate poverty, beginning with the South Providence Neighborhood Ministries. Later, she worked as a staunch advocate for abused and neglected children in the Rhode Island Family Court in the office of the Court Appointed Special Advocate, rising to the role of Deputy Director. Upon retirement, she rounded out two decades of public service as a volunteer with Adoption Rhode Island. She was a patron of the visual and performing arts, and was a regular attendee at Trinity Repertory Company and a season ticket holder at the Gamm Theatre. A great joy was taking her grandchildren to the annual showing of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, especially in New England, California, and taking river cruises throughout Europe. Hosting family and friends in her home in Cranston, and spending her afternoons relaxing with a cup of tea and a good book on her porch or at State Beach on Martha's Vineyard were among many favorite pastimes. She could be seen walking her rescued dogs, Tramp, and later Tilly, whose misdeeds provided entertainment in both RI and Martha's Vineyard. She is survived by her husband Robert, her children Timothy Harrall and his wife Tamara Barney, her daughter Deborah McDade and her husband Michael, and son Christopher Harrall and his wife Kristen. She was an adoring "Nonnie" to seven grandchildren: Tyler, Jordan, and Ryan Barney; Christian and Benjamin McDade; and Lily and Calvin Harrall. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Richard Harrall and his wife Mary. She held dear numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Proulx and Florence (Smith) and by her sisters, Shirley Whitehead and Georgiana Gammardella. Maria Cristofaro, 94, of Cranston passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 29, 2023, with her family by her side. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Marietta (Sinapi) Palumbo. She was the devoted wife of the late Pasco "Pat" Cristofaro. Mary was a woman who took great pride in her appearance and always dressed to impress. Her love of fashion brought her to work in the jewelry and retail industry. She took pride in keeping her home spotless, and one of her favorite pastimes was sewing and creating clothes for herself, her children, and their dolls. There was always music in the air at home. She enjoyed nights out swing dancing with her beloved husband Pat. Wherever there was a marching band, you would see her toes a tapping and a big smile on her face. She also occasionally enjoyed the music that rang from the machines at a casino. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary's church in Cranston. She is survived by her loving daughter Patricia Watson, and the late Kathy Cristofaro. Her beloved grandchildren Courtney DiResto and her fiance Dave D'Ercole, and Alicia Johnson. She leaves six great grandchildren. She was the beloved sister of Vincent Palumbo and his wife Gladys, Victor Palumbo and his companion Sharon Greggory, Sylvia Galasso, Jeanette D'Amico and her husband John, and Linda Tundis, as well as many nieces and nephews. 97, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Cedar Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, Cranston. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence (Santoro) Rosa. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Michael and Luisa (Maiola) Rosa. William was a US Navy Veteran serving in World War II. After his military service, he worked as a printer for many years. After retirement he spent much of his spare time woodworking and wine making, which became his passion. He was also a devoted member of the Santa Maria di Prata Society. William is survived by his loving children, William J. Rosa, Jr. and his wife Jennifer Aspel, and Susan Pirolli and her husband Michael; cherished grandchildren, Katherine Frederick (Jeffrey), Michael Pirolli (Lauren), Nicholas Pirolli (Krystal), and Peter Pirolli (Natalie); great-grandchildren, Sophia & Jackson Frederick, Lucas, Nicholas, Damon and Amelia Pirolli. Fashion designer Leo Narducci passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023 following a short illness at the age of 91. He is survived by his loving husband Robert Ferrari and daughter, Lanie Diamond. He was the son of the late Leo Narducci Sr. and Mary (Ventresca) Narducci. He was the former partner of the late Edward Diamond. In a career spanning over sixty years, Leo helped transform Young Designer fashion on Seventh Avenue with a timeless sensibility. A lover of jazz music, dance, theater and football, Leo's greatest passion was designing. Born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts, Leo's parents operated a garment factory where Leo claimed he "could sew before he could write his name". Leo served as an air traffic controller in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War before attending Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) to study Apparel Design. Graduating in 1960, Leo moved to New York City and began working for Arnold Shoenfeld at Loomtog's, Inc. before designing for the label Guy D. In 1965, he won the prestigious Coty Fashion Award. After meeting fashion entrepreneur Ben Shaw in 1967, Leo launched his own label, Narducci, Inc. , a division of Geoffrey Beene, Inc. Editors of Women's Wear Daily, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Glamour, and Mademoiselle championed Leo as a rising star of the Young American designers revolutionizing American sportswear. A favorite of many celebrities of the stage and screen, his fashions were regularly featured in the Fifth Avenue windows of Henri Bendel and Lord & Taylor and national publications. Always seeking new ways of creating, Leo launched his own jewelry line, became one of the first designers to license designs in Vogue Patterns, designed for The Joffrey Ballet, and reimagined uniforms for several national companies. His designs are held in multiple private collections and museums, including the RISD Museum of Art, The Museum of the City of New York, and The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. However, Leo's favorite thing in the world was mentoring young and emerging designers. Leo returned to Providence, RI, serving as a Critic in the RISD Apparel Department and inspired countless young artists and designers. Working closely with Jill Carey, Professor of Fashion + Curator, Leo made extensive donations to Lasell University's Fashion Collection promoting fashion education and was honored in March 2023 by Lasell University for his lifetime achievements in the arts. In Leo's own words: "For a designer, if you're creative you don't stop, you keep moving. It's a gift - something that exists in your heart, as well as your mind. I feel fortunate to have lived my life creating. " At the time of his passing, Leo had completed a memoir and was working on several projects including a fashion book and a documentary film. Matthew T. DeSilva, age 33, of Cranston, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Born in Providence, he was a son of Dwayne A. Curtis and Tracy M. DeSilva. Matthew was the brother of Anthony Cosenza, Jaymes Curtis, Janice Cosenza, Jewelleen Furlong and Christine Paulino; grandson of Sharon "Tia" Desilva and the late Norma LeBlanc. He was the uncle of many nieces and nephews who loved him tremendously. Matthew loved watching basketball and football, especially the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys of which he was an avid fan. He was the best brother and a loving son and grandson. He was always there when his family needed him. Words can't describe how empty our lives are without him.
