Erma Mae Noland, 94, of Blue Mound, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. A service to honor Erma's life will be held at 10:00 a. m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p. m. on Sunday. Erma will be laid to rest in Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Christian Church of Blue Mound, DOVE or Meridian Ag Foundation. Erma was born on November 1, 1928 in Macon, IL, the daughter of James W. and Lola Mae (Eckhardt) Moma. Erma was the 1946 Valedictorian at Blue Mound High School. She received a scholarship and attended Illinois State Normal University. She married Neil Scott Noland on March 3, 1950 in Bloomington, IL. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2013. Erma was a devoted farmwife, homemaker, member of First Christian Church of Blue Mound and Order of Eastern Star. She was the former president of Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a Macon County Rural Youth Queen, an Abraham Lincoln enthusiast and enjoyed wintering in Florida. Erma is survived by her children: Dianne Noland Negangard (Dave) of St. Joseph, IL, Duane Noland (Tina) of Blue Mound, IL and Dennis Noland (Dani) of Blue Mound, IL; grandchildren: Grant Noland (Logan) of Decatur, IL, Blake Noland (Kristin) of Decatur, IL, Victoria Shugart (Matthew) of Decatur, IL and Drew Negangard (fiance, Jessica Reid) of Angora, MN; great grandchildren: Hudson Noland, Elizabeth Noland, Harrison Noland, Bryce Shugart, Lyla Noland, June Noland and Mack Noland. Devona M. Dummermuth, 92, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Blue Mound, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. A memorial service to honor Devona's life will be held at 12:00 p. m. on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Devona will be laid to rest in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown, IL. Devona was born on January 28, 1931 in Orchardville, IL, the daughter of George B. and Freda (Ellis) Harrell. She married Dean C. Dummermuth on July 7, 1949. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2007. Devona was a devoted farmwife and a faithful member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Card Club, Macon County Farm Bureau Prime Timers and the Macon County Lady Land Owners. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and quilting. Goldie Frances Kitchens, 87, of Blue Mound, IL passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023. A service to honor Goldie's life will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 9:00-11:00 a. m. on Monday. Goldie will be laid to rest in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound. Goldie was born on March 1, 1935 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Roscoe and Mary (White) Cook. She married Lemuel "Pat" Kitchens on November 15, 1952. He preceded her in death June 11, 1999. Goldie was a rural mail carrier for 22 years in Blue Mound and Macon. She also had worked as a waitress at the Myers House in Blue Mound in her younger years. She was a member of the Blue Mound First Christian Church for over 60 years. She was also a member of the Bunco Club, Birthday Club, Red Hat and Rebekah Lodge. Goldie is survived by her children: Danny (Renae) Kitchens of Blue Mound, IL, Carmen (Bill) Ditty of Mt. Dr. Jay R. Brown, DVM, 75, of Blue Mound, IL passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022. A service to honor Jay's life will be held at 12:00 p. m. on Saturday, December 31st at Zion Chapel United Methodist Church in Boody, IL. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p. m. on Friday at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Jay will be laid to rest in Zion Cemetery, Boody, IL. Jay was born on December 14, 1947 in Decatur, IL, the son of Charles William "C. W. " Brown and Delores "Dee" (Brown) Carls. He married Jean Boggs on June 8, 1969. Jay is survived by his wife: Jean Brown of Blue Mound, IL; daughters: Lori (Brad) Horn of Rosenberg, TX, Lana (Tim) Casica of Little Elm, TX and Jackie (Andy) Wieduwilt of Bloomington, IL; brother: Kim S. (Janet Gaither) Brown of Ft. Myers, FL; and sister: Teresa (Greg) Phillips of Ft. Myers, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Alicia Casica, Amanda Casica, Jarrett Wieduwilt, and Makayla Wieduwilt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter, Sandi Brown. Jay graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's and Master's degree along with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. After school, he moved his family to Nebraska to join and later start his own large animal practice in Hayes Center. After 8 years, Jay returned to the University of Illinois as a professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine before working for Merial in St. Louis. After retirement from Merial, he started his own company, developing technology for Veterinary clinics around the country. Jay was an avid sports enthusiast. His passion started as a young athlete playing baseball and basketball in high school. He continued his love for sports playing fastpitch and slow pitch softball into his thirties. As his girls grew up, his focus switched to coaching each in softball and basketball. Finally, he traveled across the country as much as possible to watch his four grandchildren play. Carrol W. "Short" Virt, 94, of Decatur, IL and formerly of Blue Mound, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022. A service to honor and celebrate Carrol's life will be held at 11:00 a. m. on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. Carrol was born on November 4, 1927 in Macon County, IL, the son of Harley E. Virt, Sr. and Ethel (Hopkins) Virt. Carrol proudly served in the United States Navy at the end of WWII and during the Korean Conflict. He married Rea Dell Boggs on August 6, 1950. Carrol retired in 1990 from Mueller Co. after 37 years of service. He was an active member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church and V. F. W. Post 99. Carrol and Rea enjoyed being a part of the Boody Card Club for 56 years. Carrol is survived by his wife: Rea Dell Virt of Decatur, IL; children: Daniel (Margaret) Virt of Champaign, IL, Diana (Tom) Ritter of Blue Mound, IL, Dena Vincent of Fishers, IN, and David (Rita) Virt of Cicero, IN; grandchildren: Danyell Brenner and her partner Julia Davis, Christina (Kyle) Turngren, Cory (Jan) Ritter, Cole (Ashleigh) Ritter, Cale Ritter, Austin (Sonya Hamilton) Vincent, Ryan Vincent and his partner Thurston Smalley, Ethan Virt, Dillon Virt, and Dean Matthews; great grandchildren: Celia Ritter, Harper Ritter, Reece Ritter, Ryden Ritter, Liaam Virt, Chelsea Matthews, Roger Myers, and Lauren Matthews; great-great granddaughter: Amelia Arellano. Auburn United Methodist Church or to Mt. Auburn Community Building. Doris was born on October 1, 1928 in Altamont, IL, the daughter of Cassie A. and Ellen (Harding) Newburn. Doris married Norman Finfrock in 1950, he preceded her in death on December 5, 1957. She later married Virgil Julius on November 9, 1964, he preceded her in death on January 10, 2003. Doris worked for General Electric in Decatur from 1964-1972. Doris was also a dedicated funeral assistant for Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Homes for many years. Doris was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Mt. Auburn Picnic Association, Mt. Auburn Community Building and the Red Hats Glitzy Chicks. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts.
