Erlinda A. Gabales, age 80, passed away suddenly on June 17, 2022. Erlinda, or "Lynda," as she was known to family and friends, was born in Aroroy Masbate, Philippines on November 20, 1941. She was the eldest daughter of seven siblings to Leon and Alice (Ramones) Aguilar. The family made their home in Maasin, Southern Leyte, Philippines where Lynda attended elementary, junior high, and high school. Lynda attended Southwestern University in Cebu, Philippines and graduated in 1965 with a BSN in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for 35 yrs. , most of those years being in labor and delivery, the NICU, and mother/baby. It was at Southwestern University that she met a young resident named Magno "Mags" Gabales. They were married on June 7, 1970 and were together for 52 years. They welcomed their first child, Aireen Aguilar (Beins) on March 5, 1971 and in 1973, they came to the United States and resided in Detroit, MI. On August 18, 1974, they welcomed their second child, Annabel Lee (Lhuillier). In 1984, the family moved to Osawatomie, KS where both Lynda and Mags worked at the state hospital. Lynda worked as a psych nurse for 5 yrs. , until they moved to Wingdale, NY in 1989. Lynda and Mags moved around from Connecticut, to Iowa, to Alabama, and finally back to Kansas. Wherever she was, she will be missed for her kindness, her positivity, how she loved to have fun, dancing with Mags, her parties, and her cooking. . . . . . definitely her cooking! Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a sister. She is survived by her loving husband, Magno, her daughters Aireen and husband Nathan, and Annabel and husband Jason. Lynda also had three grandchildren whom she loved and was so very proud of - Drake Tyler Wenciker, Cierra Lynn Wenciker, and Stella KayLynn Beins. They will miss their Grandma Gabales very much. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 23rd, at 10:30 am at Church of the Holy Cross, 8311 93rd St, Overland Park, KS 66212. We will also be doing a Rosary prior to that starting at 10:00 am.
