E. Erle Smith of Hoover, age 93, passed away April 22, 2019. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from a long time career with the Alabama Power Company. He and his wife, Virginia, were long time members of The Friendship Force and enjoyed traveling. They were also members of the Jackals Dance Club. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe W. and Myrtle, brother, Joe B., and son, Delane J. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Virginia, daughter, Sydney, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at 10:00am Monday, April 29 at Ridout's in Homewood followed by the funeral service at 11. Graveside to be held at Currie Jefferson on Hwy 150. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity or Shades Mountain Baptist Church where Erle had been a member since he was 14 years old.
