Eric Wynn Obituary

Eric Keith Wynn, the son of the late Ralph and Georgia Wynn, was born July 16, 1956 in Gary, Indiana. He died at his residence in Silver Spring, MD on April 16, 2023. Mr. Wynn served for three decades as an administrator in higher education providing leadership in inclusion, diversity and ethnic services at Grinnell College, IA, Wheaton College, MA and Northern Virginia Community College, VA. He was a pioneer in expanding culturally sensitive services in administrative leadership roles since 1998 at Northern Virginia Community College. He was selected and awarded the Cecil W. Schuler Fellowship Award for Outstanding Services. He was also affiliated with the Alfred Street Baptist Church and served in its music ministry and while he loved the gospel ministry, he was also impressed by Christian theology. His professional career focused especially on expanding opportunities and services for students of color. He served as the first minority affair director at Grinnell College. He was engaged in the recruitment and retention of students of color. He is survived by siblings: Irving J. Wynn(Lafayette, IN), Sylvia R. Wynn(Nashville, TN), and Constance A. Wynn(Washington, D. C); nephew, LaMont Wynn(Hanoi, VNM), and niece, Christine Wynn(Indianapolis, IN), and two beloved aunts of Chicago, IL, many other loving relatives, friends and colleagues.
