Service information is pending. Emily Irene Henderson, 50, of Eveleth passed away after a courageous battle with renal failure on May 7, 2023 at Miller Dwan Medical Center. She wasn't expected to live an hour after her diagnosis, but she fought 6,373 days, 2 hours, 53 minutes to be with her children and family. She was the longest surviving dialysis patient in Eveleth. A true warrior and brave spirit, she gave us all the time she had. Emily was born on March 28, 1973, in Columbia City, Indiana to Mark LeRoy and Irene Henderson. She was the baby that made them a family. She graduated from Montgomery County High School in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky having attended Morehead State University while still in high school. After moving to Minnesota with her family, Emily embraced the Iron Range culture and people, enjoying life thoroughly until her diagnosis and even after. She enjoyed her time at Mesabi Range College and the opportunity to study law and assist as an aid at Legal Aid of Northeast MN. Emily enjoyed being with her family, singing, cooking, painting, craft projects, making greeting cards for the troops overseas, and watching baby animal videos. She is survived by her three children and granddaughter whom she loved with all her heart until its last beat: Culloden, Ian, and Eldrid, and granddaughter "Princess" Aspyn. By her parents Mark and Irene, sister Annie Jones, brother John-Mark (Rachel) Henderson, and sisters SarahKay Thompson, and Beth (Kurt) Peterson, numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins whom she adored beyond words. Special friends Tony, Ashley, Katie, Darrick, and many more. Her faithful winged companions Periwinkle and George provided her much joy. She was preceded in death by her sister Polly Suzanne, her maternal grandparents Mike and Edith Underwood, paternal grandparents Leslie LeRoy Henderson, Reverends Nora Sue and Pat Emile Onderdonck, and Uncles Thurman, Johnny Ray, and Douglas Underwood, Steven Henderson, Aunts Lois Jean Underwood, and Robyn Ann Henderson, and several great uncles, cousins, dialysis unit mates, and her much missed bird friend Baby. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the facilities that helped her remain with us all these years: Fresenius Kidney Care - Eveleth, St. Mary's Vasuclar and Renal - Duluth, Miller Dwan In-patient Dialysis and Compassion Care - Duluth, Essentia Health Emergency Room - Virginia, Eveleth EMT and Ambulance, Roy at Northern Access, and Ralph at C&M Taxi. Memorials to the American Kidney Association or Fresenius Kidney Care in Eveleth in her name are appreciated. Or become an organ donor in her honor, you could save a life.
