Walter Pollok

November 25, 2023

Loving son, brother, husband, father, friend. These six simple words describe a humble but extraordinary man. Walter Joseph Pollok entered eternal rest on Monday, November 20, 2023. After a long battle with several health issues he is finally at peace. Walter was born to John and Pelagia Pollok on March 19, 1948 and is preceeded in death by his parents, his Sister Bernice (Alvin) Snoga, Brother Fabian(Celeste) Pollok, Brother Adrian(Eleanor) Pollok. His surviving sibling is John (Gladys) Pollok and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Walter married Carolyn Bonewitz on April 18, 1970 and they had three children, Jeanine Pustka (David Pustka) of Lufkin, TX , Laurie Friesenhahn (Matthew Friesenhahn) of San Antonio, TX , and Dwayne Pollok (Teresa Culver) of Waxahatchie TX. They share 5 grandchildren Courtney, Whitney, Bryson, Corbyn and Kyler and 2 great grandchildren, Levi and Andrew. Walter always loved the family being together no matter how long or short the visits were. One thing his kids will never forget is Christmas Day at Grandma's house. One lesson he taught all of his kids those mornings is "If you were on time you were late. " Walter was a humbled and God loving man, something he learned at a very early age from his parents. He appreciated the Catholic Religion and its teachings. He always had God first in his life. Walter enjoyed volunteering for various organizations within the church and loved attending mass every chance he got. As challenged as his health was, he still knew it was the path God had chosen for him and made the very best of what he had in life. Walter understood the importance of farming and ranching in the world and was an avid lover of the "Going to the farm!" Even on his most challenging days he was happiest on the tractor shredding grass, feeding cattle or running over anything that got in his path. Walter also knew the importance of rain in the world and never forgot to pray for it every chance he got. Because of that love of farming and ranching, Walter was an Aggie to the bone too. He loved watching Aggie sports and whether they won, lost or tied he was always up for watching the next game. The band was his true love though. Don't think there was a time that we didn't see him tear up as soon as the War Hymn started. Throughout the years of raising his kids Walter took great pride in coaching their various Softball/Baseball teams, track teams, and helped with several FFA projects. Walter loved breaking in a new Baseball/Softball glove every spring. Furthering his love for teaching and helping kids he also was a very active member of the East Central ISD School Board for many years and was officer in the Catholic Youth Organization for many years as well. To continue Walters impact on future children in the ECISD, in lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the East Central ISD Foundation. Funeral services will be held at St. Jeromes Catholic Church- China Grove TX on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, Rosary at 10:30am and Mass at 11:00am. Interment to follow. Pall Bearers are Nephews, Roger Pollok, Jeff Pollok, Ricky Pollok, Howard Snoga, Sons in law David Pustka, Matthew Friesenhahn and Godson Bryan Kellner. The family would like to thank all for their kind thoughts, words and support during this most difficult time.Show more
