ObituaryJohn Benjamin Kincaid passed away peacefully at home on October 25, 2023, in Mountain View, Missouri. Born November 5, 1933, in Loma Linda, California, to Roland Isaac and Addy Bernice (Walden) Kincaid, John lived a life full of adventure, learning, loving, service, and devotion. John was a 1951 graduate of Redlands Union High School. He enlisted in the US Army in June 1953, attended Officers Candidate School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 1961 from the Missouri School of Mines, Rolla, Missouri, and served in the Army Corp of Engineers. During his twenty years of military service, John completed multiple tours of duty across the USA including Alaska, and abroad in Greenland, Dominican Republic, and Vietnam. Following his military career, he earned a master's in Sanitary Engineering and worked as the Director of Wastewater Control for the City of Knoxville, Tennessee, until 1981, when he moved his family to Mountain View, Missouri. There he served as project engineer for the city's wastewater treatment plant redesign. In 1982, John took a faculty position with University of Missouri-Rolla Civil Engineering Department where his love of learning and teaching fully blossomed. His creative approach delighted students and fascinated faculty. He was awarded Teacher of the Year by the students and faculty for seven consecutive years from 1982-1989. John took his zeal for learning and teaching far and wide exploring diverse interests and aptitudes. He was an avid bird watcher, crafter, carpenter, builder, inventor, gardener, beekeeper, and wood turner. John and his wife Ann have been dedicated to taking care of their pets, as well as the gentle creatures of nature that wandered onto their place, providing shelter, water, and winter food for these visitors. John also volunteered for the community, serving as a tax preparer for the elderly, and was a member of the City of Mountain View Zoning Board. John received numerous awards and accolades recognizing his contributions over the years. He and Ann won the local garden club Yard of the Year award for several years. He belonged to the Ozark Wood Turner's Association in Mountain Home, Arkansas, and was instrumental in beginning an annual event featuring a professional woodturner who provided lectures, instruction, and demonstrations of technique for the club. He is survived by his wife, Antoinette Thompson; his daughters, Robin Linkhart (spouse Kevin) of Longmont, CO, Margaret Jordan (spouse Earl) of Marble, NC, Michele Foster (spouse Kevin) of Mountain View, MO, and Stephanie Cortese (spouse Dave) of Kent, WA; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and along with three brothers, David, Norman, and Roger. He is predeceased by his sister, Kay Elizabeth (Kincaid) Hartzler. May memories of John Benjamin Kincaid live for generations to come through the stories he lived and shared with those he loved so well. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p. m. on November 4, 2023, at Veterans Cemetery located at East Street in Mountain View, Missouri, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View. Thomas Arthur Holland, 69, departed this life on November 21, 2023, in Mountain View, Missouri. He was born October 6, 1954, to Arthur and Lillie (Burnett) Holland. Tom grew up with his siblings Jim, Mack, Dane, Clifford, Carole, and John, who all preceded him in death along with his father and mother-in-law, Billy and Emma (Culpepper) Moore; a nephew, Dwight Holland; sisters-in-law, Kay Smotherman, Louise Strosnider and Brenda Holland; brothers-in-law, Ken Wright, Gene Smotherman and Chet Waterhouse; and niece Amanda Holland Gideon. Tom leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Betty Jo; son, Chris; and daughter, Jessica (Charlie) Weaver; and the love of his life; his grandsons, Jennings, Avery, and Andy, and a special nephew, Billy Stephens; sisters-in-law, Carol Wright, Mary Waterhouse, Connie Holland, Barbara Holland, and Debbie Moore; brothers-in-law, Randy Moore and Brad Strosnider; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. Tom was of the Baptist Faith and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He started working when he was 12 years old at Counts Service Station in Eminence, where he grew up. He moved to Mountain View and worked at Richard Brothers, and later became manager of the feed store. He then worked for Ozarks Medical Center as a dispatcher, EMT, and mechanic for the ambulance districts. In 1997, he became Transportation Superintendent for the Mtn. View and Birch Tree Schools, until his retirement in 2021. He loved working for the children and his bus drivers. In his spare time, along with Betty Jo, he remodeled ten houses after work hours and weekends. He married into a big close family who were always together and loved cooking for all occasions. All the memories of card playing, deer hunting and just being together will be cherished. They are many and great. Tom will be missed greatly, but to know he is not suffering and went to be with Jesus means a lot to his family. No services are planned at this time. Anna Lee Thompson was born October 17, 1947, in Winona, Missouri, to Other and Josefeen (Bradshaw) Counts. She departed this life peacefully on November 12, 2023, at Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 76. Anna was united in marriage to Raymond Lee Thompson on March 23, 1964, and to this union, four children were born. Raymond Lee preceded her in death on September 10, 2005. Also preceding her in death are her parents; son, Ricky; granddaughter, Dianna Walker; twin sister, Donna Counts; brother, Tex Counts; father-in-law, Harm Thompson; mother-in-law, Beulah Thompson; six brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and two sons-in-law. She is survived by her son, Mickey Thompson; daughter, Shella Myers; daughter, Donna Weber and husband, Bobby, all of Eminence, MO; one granddaughter, Tamber Searles and husband, Gary of Mountain View, MO; one grandson, Ozzy Walker and wife, Kristan of Eminence, MO; four great-grandchildren, Brentley, Allison, and Camden Searles, and Jaxson Walker; her sister, Shirley Thompson and husband, Paul; her brother, Rex Counts and wife, Brenda; and two sisters-in-law, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, doing crafts, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends, and of course her pets. When she was well, Anna loved volunteering at the Shannon County Food Pantry and attending all the events in her precious small town. Anna always made sure those around her were taken care of, even if that meant she had to go without. She was a kind and gentle listening ear for any who may have needed it and was the best mender for a hurting or broken heart. Anna was one of the sweetest souls to have ever walked this earth and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri, with Pastor Randy Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-3:00 p. m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Lawn Cemetery in Winona, Missouri. David Joe Duncan was born on June 27, 1949, in Scotia, California, to W. H. "Bill" Duncan and Bonnie Evelyn Terrill. He passed away on November 4, 2023, at Mountain View Healthcare, Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 74. David joined the United States Army in March of 1970 and served on active duty and then onto the Ready Reserves till March of 1976. He lived most of his life in Summersville, Missouri, where he logged with his father and brothers for several years. Later, he ventured out into trucking, and soon that became a way of life for "Ole Gray Fox. "He is preceded in death by his father, Bill Duncan; his mother, Bonnie Duncan; sister, Kathy Smith; and brother-in-law, Duane Smith. David is survived by his daughters, Becky Pitts and husband, Jim, Jolene Smith and husband, Michael, and Davi Duncan; son, Dalton Duncan and wife, Frannie; brothers, Billy Duncan and wife, Carolyn, and Tom Duncan and wife, Brenda; ten grandchildren, Kayleigh Drake, Ryanne Sowell and husband, Ian, Shelby Pitts, Dakota Sharp and wife, Kayla, Cole Smith, Hannah Smotherman and husband, Austin, Ethan Smith, Skylea Boyle, Weslee Boyle, and Uriah Duncan; seven great-grandchildren, Jace Drake, Elias Sowell, Lukis Sowell, Maisyn Smotherman, Graham Smotherman, Abram Smith, and Wesson Smith; as well as a very dear friend of many years, Patricia Satterfield; and a host of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p. m. on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Winona, Missouri, with Pastor Jeff Brake officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Winona.
