Ella "Sue" Donathan Godwin Ella "Sue" Donathan Godwin, 89, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023. She was born November 21, 1933 in Mount Ida, Arkansas to the late Joseph Frank & Edna Gertrude (Qualls) Kilby. Sue was a caretaker specializing in senior care and a member of Bismarck Pentecostal Church. Sue was preceded in death by her first husband James Thomas Donathan and her second husband Wilford "Bob" Godwin; brothers Doyle Kilby & Von Kilby; sisters Reba Black & Carrie Warner; son James Thomas "Jimmy" Donathan, Jr. ; great grandson Landon Rogers and son-in-law Loyd Harrington. Survivors include her children Jannie Harrington, Linda Rogers, Teresa Hayes & her husband Phillip and Vivian Dixon & her husband Tim; stepdaughter Linda Donahou; sister Sonja Wakefield; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Travis Rogers, Chad Rogers, Michael Harrington, Cody Harrington, Jonathan Overton, Jesse Judge, Don Greene and Blake Hayes. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Gross Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Gross Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Van Glidewell officiating.

Hans Dieter Purkott, 83, of Hot Springs, AR passed away November 25, 2023 after a short illness. Hans was born in Brandenburg, Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1968 in search of the American dream with his young bride and two young children. He was a tool and die maker by trade, and went on to be a successful businessman settling in Hot Springs in 1978. He retired in the mid 1990's and took up one of his favorite hobby's, golf, while also becoming very active in the Knights of Columbus and other community events. Hans was predeceased by his parents; Thomas and Else Purkott, and son-in-law Chuck Adams. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ilse; children Ute Adams and Angi Germany (Roy); 4 grandchildren Tony Adams (Jenni), Michael Adams, Amber Workman (Sam) and Haley Chasteen (Klay); along with 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Rose Marie Gronenschild (Rolf) and Monika Schwartz (Wilfried) along with several nieces and nephews and family in Germany. Hans will be missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU and acute care of CHI St Vincent Hot Springs for their care and compassion during Hans' illness, especially his favorite Jeri Lyn. The family would also like to thank you for all of the prayers, word of encouragement and love during this most difficult time. Richard Carson Harrison, 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Richard G. Harrison and Edwin Harrison, as well as his brother Stephen E. Harrison. He is survived by his beloved wife Myra, of 63 years, and two children, Matt Harrison and wife, Carolyn; Mark Harrison and wife, Sandy; as well as his sister, Becky Harrison, and sister-in-law, Dr. Margaret Harrison. Richard was also blessed with three grandchildren, Andrew Harrison and wife, Liz; Hunter Harrison and wife, Allison; and Megan Harrison. He also had the opportunity to meet his great grandchild, Briar Harrison. Richard was born on Christmas Day, 1938 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and later attended Little Rock High School where he graduated in 1956. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In 1960, Richard married the love of his life, his forever friend, and favorite cook, Myra Harrison. He was instrumental in the growth and success of Welsco, a distributor of welding supplies and industrial gases, for over 30 years. He ultimately became CEO of the company before moving to Ono Island in Orange Beach, AL in 1986. There, he and Myra enjoyed fishing the Gulf Coast. While residing in Orange Beach, Richard owned a furniture manufacturing company that produced promotional dining tables and chairs called Baldwin Dinettes. He and Myra were a part of the Mardi Gras "Bon Temps Krewe" in Orange Beach where Richard became "King" of his crew in 1998. After 15 years of manufacturing furniture, he decided to become a real estate agent on the Gulf Coast. He cultivated his passion for writing by crafting articles about fishing the Gulf Coast in a column he coined "Somethin' Fishy", in The Gulf Coast Evening Sun, the local newspaper. He eventually authored his first book called My Killer Christmas Present. Richard enjoyed serving in the Ono Island Men's Club cooking pancake breakfasts, performing island clean-ups and embarking on numerous trips. Later, he and Myra moved back to Arkansas to be close to their children and grandchildren, residing on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. Richard loved spending time with family and friends. He had a zest for life and everyone that knew him, loved him and his contagious laugh. He was an avid duck hunter, fisherman, tennis player and wind surfer. In their early years of marriage, he loved to race cars all over the South with his dad and brother in the Sports Car Club of America. He also enjoyed flying and even piloted his own single engine, Bonanza. Adding another hobby to his repertoire, he was a certified NAUI scuba instructor. As a result, he and his sons had multiple memorable experiences spearfishing in Lake Greers Ferry and Lake Ouachita. As a member of the Grand Maumelle Sailing Club at Lake Maumelle, Richard also had fallen in love with sailing. Richard, Myra and the boys navigated their sailboat all over Lake Ouachita and later throughout the Virgin Islands on the trip of a lifetime. A celebration of life will be held at Ruebel Funeral Home in Little Rock on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11:30 am and visitation will begin at 10:00 am. The family would like to thank the special ladies - Rebecca George, Dee Toledo, Mary Francis, and Gina Miller of Hospice- who took such special care of Richard during his last days. Charles William "Charlie" Davis of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Texarkana, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord November 23rd, 2023, in Texarkana, TX. Charlie was born on August 12th, 1947, in Longview, TX, to William Gray "Bill" Davis, Jr. and Pearl Jean Autrey Davis. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, Gray and Ophelia Davis, and maternal grandparents, Charlie and Janie Autrey. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Genia, of Hot Springs, AR, four sons, Chuck, Texarkana, TX, Gray (Angie), Atlanta, TX, Reid (Gretchen), Lexington, SC, and Colt, Palolo, HI, ten grandchildren, Jessica, Jolie, Gray, Lily, Dallan, Savannah, Scarlett, Cole, Lyla, and Lexi, and three great-grandchildren, Paxton, Caroline, and Ellie May, one sister, Janie Fields (Earl), Fischer, TX, niece, Lesa Sowell (Randy), Boerne, TX, great-nephew Will, Nashville, TN, one very special cousin, Donna Davis, Diana, TX, father-in-law Edwin Prator, Queen City, TX, his best friend of 41 years, Lindsey Greenwell, and his precious feline fur baby, Lexi Jade. Charlie was a Christian and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Malvern, AR, where he loved listening to the sermons and singing the old gospel hymns. Charlie graduated from Texas High School, Texarkana, TX, in 1965 and earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Texas A&M University in Texarkana, TX. He proudly served in the United States Army, the United States Navy, and the United States Coast Guard, in the Coast Guard Investigative Services Division. He began his career in law enforcement in Texarkana working for both the City of Texarkana, TX, Police Department and the City of Texarkana, AR, Police Department, retiring from the City of Texarkana, AR, Police Department in 1997. He went on to serve as the Assistant Director of the Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Division and as the Director of the Arkansas Tobacco Control Board. He ended his career as the Alcoholic Beverage Control Senior Agent for Garland County, AR, and the surrounding counties. Of all of his earthly accomplishments, Charlie was the most proud of his "Boys". He never passed up the opportunity to tell his Boys how much he loved them and how proud he was of their accomplishments. Charlie loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies as a young man. In his forties, he discovered his love of chasing a little white ball down a fairway and he was hooked. He was a member of the Fore Seasons Golf Group at the Diamondhead Golf and Country Club in Hot Springs, AR. Charlie loved life and lived it to the fullest. He never met a stranger and placed great value in meeting new people as well as staying in touch with those from his past. He was the "life of the party" and had a smile that would light up any room. He was a generous man and a true patriot. He was a wonderful husband and father and a true friend to many. Charlie was special and will be held dearly in the hearts of those who love him. Now, close your eyes and think of the last time you saw Charlie. He was probably smiling. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, December 1, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A very special thanks to the Administrator and Staff of Oaks Memory Care and Heritage Hospice in Texarkana, TX, for taking such great care of Charlie. Gerald Wayne Harvey, 74, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away November 23, 2023. He was born June 26, 1949 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to AJ Harvey and Coleen Harvey. Gerald enjoyed spending time with family, boating, camping, and taking his dogs to dog shows with his wife. He was employed at radius aerospace for over 30 years. Voting member for NADCAP chemical process & heat treat group, FAA Designated Airworthiness representative (DAR), ASNT LEVEL III Certified, trained in advanced quality systems with Boeing, Lockheed and McDonell Douglas. Gerald was preceded in death by his father, AJ Harvey; mother, Coleen Harvey, brothers; George and AJ, and sister Coleen. Survivors include his wife Pam Harvey; daughter Andi Adderholt; daughter Heather Anderson; daughter Merideth Shoemaker; daughter Erica Disney; Brother, Lon Harvey; grandchildren Patience, Chase, Kyle, Jess, Dani, Gabe and Caley; great-grandchildren; Paxton, Luke and Drake. Visitation will be at Caruth-Hale funeral home on Sunday, November 26th with a Rosary from 4:00-4:30 p. m. and visitation from 4:30-6:30 p. m. A celebration of Gerald's life will be held at St. Johns Catholic Church on Monday, November 27th at 10:00 a. m. with Father George Sander officiating. Burial to follow service at Crestview Cemetery. Pallbearers include John Adderholt, Chris Shoemaker, Pat Pultz, Brett Pultz, Jeff Pultz and Ray Douglas Anderson. Honorary pallbearers are Lon Harvey and Tony Pultz.
