Elizabeth "Liz" C Welch passed away on September 3rd, 2023 in Wichita, Kansas. Liz was born in rural Garden Plain, Kansas on May 5, 1929 to Dick and Erna Wulf. Liz moved to Winfield in 1967, then to Arkansas City in 1975 and back to Wichita in 2001 where she remained until her death. Liz attended St. John's College in Winfield before marrying Lloyd Lassmann in January of 1952. They had six children together and were happily married until Lloyd's passing in 1967. Eight years later, in 1975, Liz married Rupert Welch. They enjoyed 24 years of marriage before Rupert's death in 1999. Liz was a member of Wesley Friends, and SMW-Service Military Widows. Liz is preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Ema Wulf; husband, Lloyd Lassmann; husband Rupert Welch; brothers, Wilbur, Elwin, Elmer, Arnold, Otto, Eldor Wulf; and sister, Paulina Ramey. She is survived by children; Steven Lassmann, Jennifer (Bud) Henderson, Letitia Gilliand, Andrew Lassmann, Sharon Malcom and Paula Davis; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church 842 North Tyler, Wichita, Kansas 67212 on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10:30 AM. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 11:30 in Mt. Hope Cemetery 1282 Hawaii Rd. Humbolt, KS 66748. Memorial contributions may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church. Jennifer Joan Richard was born on June 10, 1949 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to George and Elome Erma Moses - Finch. Jennifer attended L'Overture Elementary, and Matthewson Junior High. She graduated from Wichita East High School. After high school, Jennifer met the love of her life Alvin L. Richard. Jennifer and Alvin got married on December 8, 1967. To this union three children were born. Jennifer worked at The Coleman Company for 26 years, and then moved on to be a CNA/ Home Health Aide, until she took her last breath. Jennifer loved music and loved to dance! She also loved to bowl, and as she began to get older, she grew to love fitness and exercise. She joined Tops and set goals for herself. With the support of her Tops friends and family she achieved every goal she set for herself. Jennifer was a longtime member of Unity Temple Church of God in Christ. She always made sure to show love to everyone. She always greeted you and left you with a hug and a kiss. No exceptions! Jennifer always ended her conversation and call with, "I love you". Well Jennifer it's not goodbye! I love you, see you later! Love, Aunt Lillian. Jennifer was proceeded in death by her husband, Alvin, L, Richard; parents, George and Elome Finch; brothers, Moses Finch, Chester Finch and Franklin Finch; sister, Gloria Stuart and grandson Marione Richard. She is survived by her three children; sons, Alvin Richard, Sr, (Faith), Kevin, Richard (LaKricia Moon), and daughter, Tylisa Richard, all of Wichita, Kansas; sister in law, Priscilla Finch, and aunt Janie, Washington, Lillian Fatherree-Scott (I love you too) and Francis Barrett; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.Show more

Sister Dorothy Cecilia LeBlanc (formerly Sister Mary Andrew), a Sister of St. Joseph for 80 years, entered eternal life at Mt. St. Mary Convent in Wichita, KS on December 3, 2023 at the age of 97. Sr. Dorothy was born on June 26, 1926 in Baton Rouge, LA to the late Andrew Leland LeBlanc and Marie Margaret Stanley. Sr. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Andrew, Jr. , Francis, and her sisters Ann Marie Conner and Theresa Terrio. Sr. Dorothy is survived by several nieces and nephews. Sr. Dorothy graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Baton Rouge, LA in 1943 and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on September 8, 1943. She professed final vows on August 15, 1948. Sr. Dorothy graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans with a B. S. in Education. She received a M. S. in Chemistry from Notre Dame University and a M. R. E. in Religious Education from Loyola University. Sr. Dorothy received her Clinical Pastoral Training from Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Sr. Dorothy's years of ministry and service in education began in 1945 at St. Rose of Lima School in New Orleans where she later served as Principal. Her teaching assignments included St. Joseph Academy in Bay St. Louis, St. Joseph Academy in New Orleans, St. Rita School in Harahan, St. Joseph Parochial as teacher and principal and St. Joseph Academy in Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee Catholic and Rosenwald Public High school in New Roads, LA. Sr. Dorothy's last teaching assignment was at O'Connell High School in Galveston, Texas. Sr. Dorothy then served as staff member of Casa Esperanza Refuge for Children and Mothers in Houston, Texas. She served for six years as Senior Coordinator of Lourdes Community Center in New Orleans. For the next five years Sr. Dorothy served as caregivers for the Sisters of St. Joseph at Our Lady of Wisdom Healthcare in New Orleans. Following Hurricane Katrina, Sr. Dorothy moved to Wichita, Kansas to care for Sisters at Mount St. Mary, Wichita Kansas. Sr. Dorothy was a regular participant in Kairos retreats for women in prison in Louisiana and Kansas. In 2018 Sr. Dorothy retired and continued to serve by her presence and prayer ministry in Marian Hall at Mount St. Mary. Homecoming and Rosary will be at Mt. St. Mary Resurrection Chapel on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 3:00 p. m. with Wake Service at 6:30 p. m. Mass of Resurrection followed by internment will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 in Resurrection Chapel at 10:30 a. m. Richard Lee Walker, of Wellington, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 91. Richard was born the son of John and Edna (Hurt) Walker on September 24, 1932 in Wellington, Kansas. He attended schools locally and graduated from Wellington High School in the Class of 1950. Richard and Sharon Norris were united in marriage at the First Baptist Church in Wellington, Kansas on February 28, 1964. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Richard worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Brakeman-Conductor for 40 years before his retirement in 1996. He was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed watching and rooting for them on Sundays. Richard was a collector of guns and trains that he would accumulate during his travels to many different train shows over the years. He also had a passion for woodworking and making model airplanes. Most of all, Richard loved spending time with his family and making memories with them. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Walker; daughter, Julie (Mario) Aguilar; grandchildren: Zane (Liz) Aguilar, Sage (Brandi) Aguilar, Brady (Pam) Walker, Bailey (Brett Clark) Walker; great grandchildren: Clara Aguilar, Micah Aguilar, Emma Walker, Hunter Clark, Kasten Clark, and baby Aguilar on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Walker; son, Curtis Walker; brother, Bob Walker; and sister, Merlene Basinger. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. A private internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the First Baptist Church and the National Kidney Foundation . Contributions can be left with the funeral home.
