Elizabeth A. (Kincaid) Sawyer of Plymouth MA, formerly of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at home on April 20, 2023, at the age of 87. Betty was born in Amesbury MA on July 24, 1935 to the late Foster and Helen (Earle) Kincaid. During high school she was member of the Baton Squad and a drum majorette for her high school's marching band. Following her graduation from Beverly High School in 1953, she attended hairdressing school. During this time she met the brother of one of her classmates and, in 1957, she married the love of her life H. Philip Sawyer Jr from Gloucester MA. While living in Gloucester, she worked as a hairdresser in 2 different salons in Gloucester and Caldwell Nursing Home in Ipswich until she retired in 1994. Betty and her husband were members of the West Gloucester Trinitarian Congregational Church for many years and she was also a member of the church's Ladies Aide. She was a Majority Member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, as well as, Mother Advisor of Gloucester Assembly #41 IORG while her daughter, Heidi, was a member. Betty loved camping, knitting, reading, watching Hallmark movies, cheering her loved ones on in all of their endeavors, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her beloved daughter Heidi Sawyer and her three cherished grandchildren Amanda Singrassia, Nathaniel Singer and Melanie Singer, her sister-in-law Loretta Kincaid, her "adopted" daughter Pamela DeMaio, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband of 53 years, as well as, her parents and her 3 brothers George, Richard, and William. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held at the Middleboro Masonic Lodge, 46 S Main St, Middleboro MA on Saturday May 7 from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or Cranberry Hospice of Plymouth MA.
