Elizabeth "Betty" J. Lane, 86, a lifelong resident of Elkton, MD, passed away on October 6, 2023. Born on April 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Edward Herman and Elizabeth "Daisy" Paris Fischer. Mrs. Lane was a homemaker and in her spare time she had been a Tupperware Representative. Survivors include her children, Dr. Richard A. Lane (Cindy), Oak Island, NC, Rory A. Lane (Tina), Robin A. Cragle (Andy), Rhonda A. Shultz (Brian), and Regina A. Lane, all of Elkton, MD; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Caldwell and Mary Rea, both of Elkton, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Howard A. Lane; daughter, Renette A. Lane; and her brother, Eddie Fischer. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, October 13, 2023 at Hicks Home for Funerals at 103 W. Stockton St. , Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 10 AM. Interment will be in St. John's United Methodist Cemetery, 595 Lewisville Rd. , Elkton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Donald "Donnie" Lester Andrews, Sr. , lovingly known to his family as "Jamps", and friends as "Mr. D", 86, of Elkton, MD passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Born in Wilmington, DE on October 22, 1937, he was the son of the late William J. Andrews, Sr. and Helen Cloud Andrews Gilpin. Mr. Andrews had previously worked as a Parts and Service Manager at Williams Automotive, retiring after 47 years. He was a longtime member of Elkton United Methodist Church, the same church where he married Ina. Mr. Andrews was an avid New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies fan, always watching a game with his "bride" and hardly seen without a baseball cap. Mr. Andrews was the Manager of the 1974 Maryland State Championship team and 1983 Babe Ruth World Series team. His days were spent in his garage, waving to neighbors and "counting cars". By night, the adults would join him for beverages, and he'd hand out Icee Pops to the kids. In the winter, he enjoyed watching gameshows and doing word searches. Mr. Andrews enjoyed visits from his grand-dogs, Patches, Gus, Huston, Scarlett, Chloe, Callie, Oakley, and especially, Archie. Mr. Andrews was cherished by people of all ages - for his infectious smile, memorable stories, and hospitality. To know him, was to love him. He will be extremely missed. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Ina Ray Lloyd Andrews; daughter-in-law Kristina Rose Andrews, grandchildren, Kelsie Louise Andrews (Brent) and Casey Lloyd Andrews (Lea), nieces and nephews, Debbie Waddington Andrews, Dee Andrews Roe, William John Andrews III, and Shawn Hampton, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, Donna Lee Andrews, and Donald Lester Andrews, Jr. and his siblings, William J. Andrews, Jr. , and Carol Andrews Hampton. The family would like to express gratitude to their neighbors, nurses, and doctors who provided remarkable care to Donnie until his death. Clarissa Gay Kist, 56, of Elkton, MD passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. Born in Chesapeake City, MD on November 16, 1967, she was the daughter of the late Gillis and Dorothy Jones Hamilton. Mrs. Kist received her master's degree and retired as a Nurse Practitioner. She enjoyed gardening, loved being in the sunshine, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her loving husband of 33 years, Daniel Earl Kist; daughters, Jessica Peel, Newark, DE, Vanessa Kist, Elkton, MD; granddaughter, Emelia Peel; siblings, Patrick Hamilton and Dwayne Hamilton. Eldonna Summers Williamson, 70, of Elkton, MD passed away Friday, November 24, 2023. Born in Terre Haute, IN on February 3, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Eldon E. and Edna L. Summers. Ms. Williamson graduated with her master's degree and retired as an engineer at DuPont. She traveled extensively in her position at DuPont to places like Japan and England. After her retirement she bought a house in Scotland where she liked to hike the countryside. Elly was a Renaissance woman who played multiple instruments, wrote professionally, painted, was an expert in the Myers-Briggs personality types; she taught as a professor at University of Delaware. She enjoyed gardening and maintaining her homestead. Her passion was rescuing and housing senior dogs. She has left her home as a sanctuary for animals in need. Elly loved sports, college and pro; she was a diehard Eagles fan. Elly inspired many. People found themselves drawn to her and her fascinating life. After surviving breast cancer, she volunteered at the center where she was treated and helped with studies, analyzing and collecting data. Some of her closest friends are those she met in a shared breast cancer journey. Those who navigated Elly through her journey, developed a deep respect and admiration for the woman she was. Elly believed in shared learning and was a compassionate human being. She regularly posted inspirational quotes on her Facebook page with her artwork. Survivors include her sister, Brenda Marks, North Fort Meyers, FL, and nieces. Celebration of Life will be private. Born in Baltimore, MD on December 14, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Michael Alexander Sager and Annette Martha Cybulski. Mrs. Sanders-Milbourne was a floral designer and had previously worked as an inventory specialist in the food industry. She loved being with her family, an avid animal lover, enjoyed watching her favorite show "Super Natural & Character Dean", and loved being at the ocean, especially Ocean City. Survivors include her loving husband of 23 years, James H. Milbourne; children, Larry Sanders (Toni), Jessica Backus (Chauncey); grandchildren, Eternity Sanders, Siena Sanders, Harrison Sanders, Mila Backus; siblings, Denise Padgett, Tony Sager, Ronnie Sager; and her beloved canine, Susie. Grace Malinda Pursley, 94, of Elkton MD passed away Friday, November 24, 2023. Born in Elkton on November 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Elizabeth Moore Spratt. Mrs. Pursley, a certified nursing assistant, retired from the Cecil County Health Department. A member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of Union Hospital, where she assisted in the Good as New Shop, and also participated in the Red Hat Society, the Cecil County Farm Museum and Union Quilt Ladies. Mrs. Pursley was also a supporter of Shriners Hospital for Children. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pursley was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Pursley and her sister, Elsie Keen. Survivors include her children, Darlene Pursley Gregg, Crisfield, MD, Ginny Simpers, Elkton, MD and William L. Pursley (Trish), Elkton; grandchildren, Dawn Selestok Rodney Blansfield, Marc Simpers, Zachary Pursley and Jessica Pursley; great granddaughters Allie and Jula Selestok and a great great grandson, Mavryk Eder. David Sentman Sr

David Lee Sentman, Sr. , 91, of Elkton, MD passed away Monday, November 20, 2023. Born in Elkton on March 30, 1932, he was the son of the late John M. and Katherine Miller Sentman. Dave was an avid athlete growing up, playing baseball, football, basketball and soccer earning 9 varsity letters at Elkton High School. He was also the school's first quarterback when they started a football program in 1949. He loved sports so much, he also played baseball for the American Legion of Elkton team throughout high school. Dave was also very involved in the Boy Scouts, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Following high school, he attended Charlotte Hall Military Academy where he played baseball, football and basketball. Dave proudly served our country from 1950 to 1956. He joined the Maryland National Guard with the 115th Infantry Regiment and then volunteered for active duty in the U. S. Army during the Korean war, serving in Korea with the 5th Regimental Combat Team. Dave later transitioned back to the Maryland National Guard with the 115th Infantry Regiment. Following his military service, Dave graduated from Goldey Beacom with a business degree and then joined Hercules, Inc. , working in various roles in sales and business operations over his 31 years with the company. He also married the love of his life, Joanne McKeown, with whom together they built their family home and raised their children. Dave was devoted to his children and continued his love of sports with coaching little league baseball throughout his son's school years. Accolades include coaching numerous Elkton All Star baseball teams and managing the 1978 Elkton Community Little League baseball team that won the Maryland State Championship that year. As a coach, he enjoyed working with kids and teaching them the game along with sharing many life lessons that naturally occur when participating in sports. Dave would frequently talk about his ball players like they were his own kids and he was honored to feel like he was a second father to many of them. He was also a passionate fan of the Baltimore Colts, and later the Baltimore Ravens, and especially the Baltimore Orioles and the University of Maryland Terps. Survivors include his children, Kelly S. Robinson (Rob), Mason, OH, David L. Sentman, Jr. (Donna), Avondale, PA; grandchildren, Casey Musgrave, Andrew Robinson, Katelyn Sentman, Ryan Sentman, Erin Sentman; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Sentman, and Deborah Rudy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Joanne McKeown Sentman; brothers, John M. Sentman, Jr. , Charles Sentman, and Donald Sentman. Desiree Dee Markman, 68, of Elkton, MD passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Born in Fort Monmouth, NJ on May 23, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Edna Weickle Martz. Mrs. Markman had been the assistant manager at Dollar Tree. She enjoyed crocheting, loved collecting owls and gnomes, and time spent with her family meant the most to her. Survivors include her loving husband of 49 years, Samuel M. Markman; children, Joshua Alan Markman, Neptune, NJ, Danielle Renee Cox (Dean), Fair Hill, MD; grandchildren, Shelbee Cooper (Donald), Aidan Kirby, Rylee Cox (Ethan Wooster), Kamryn Cox; great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Cooper; her many adopted grandchildren; brothers, Donald Martz (Linda), Old Bridge, NJ, and Kevin Martz, Queens, NY. Born in Havre de Grace, MD, on April 13, 1950, he was the son of the late Willard Isaac Rowland and Ruby Bernice (Farmer) Rowland. Charlie was an antique appraiser. He enjoyed antiquing, bluegrass, cookouts, John Deere tractors and loved his family and the time spent with them most of all. Survivors include his beloved wife of just shy of 47 years: Deborah (Green) Rowland; three daughters: Chara "Belle" Rowland (Rene Kobeitri) of Philadelphia, PA, Laura J. Delorse Marie Hellstern, 88 of Elkton, MD, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 at home. Born in Fairview, KY, on July 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Spurgen and Clara (Hamilton) Barber. She was the owner/operator of the family bakery. When her children were young, Delorse was a team mom for Babe Ruth Baseball and Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, boating and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years: Maxmillion Hellstern, Sr. ; their children: Eric Hellstern (Karen) of North East, MD and Deborah DeMatt (Neil) of Elkton, MD; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Beverly Harrison Tozer, 79, of Elkton, MD passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023. Born in Independence, MO on December 21, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John Oscar Harrison and Virginia Elizabeth Schwalje. Beverly retired as a drug and alcohol counselor. After retirement she spent numerous days substitute teaching at CCPS elementary schools. Bev enjoyed visiting new places, by plane or cruise ship. Most of all, she loved Ocean City and Wildwood, NJ. Beverly started each day with an hour of quiet prayer. Her life centered on loving God, her husband, her family, and friends. She had an aura of caring kindness that lightened the hearts of strangers. For fifteen years Bev employed Facebook to nourish countless people with her spiritual insights. She was loved by people she never met. Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Gordon Tozer; children, Mark Tozer, Elkton, MD, Brian Tozer (Barbara), Wichita, KS, and Christopher Tozer (Lara), Wilmington, DE; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grand children.
