Her family had a farm, and she attended a one room schoolhouse. Jini attended Antioch College for "two life-changing years" before completing her undergraduate degree at Wayne State University and The New School for Social Research. She married David McCoubrey in 1952, and they raised three children in Sea Cliff, NY, and Wayland, MA. Following their divorce, Jini obtained a master’s degree in library science at Simmons College. Jini and David hosted several backyard "hootenannies" to raise money for the NAACP. They also co-founded the Unitarian Fellowship at Muttontown, NY. Later, she organized books for the prison ministry of First Parish Concord. Jini planted gardens wherever she lived, including her notable cottage garden on Millbrook Rd. and her marigold display on her deck at Concord Greene, home to her large collection of rooster art that she never sought. Jean Kingsbury

Jean Kingsbury

Age - 53

October 18, 2023

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Jean Kingsbury, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend passed away unexpectedly at the age of 68 after complications from a recent fall. Jean was born on April 22, 1955, to George and Marie St. Pierre who raised her in Medfield and introduced her to her "happy place" summering by the beach in Falmouth. She married fellow Medfield alum, William (Bill) Kingsbury on May 22, 1976, and they raised two children, Erin and Neil, on the street where she grew up. Professionally, she received her associate degree in early childhood education from Wheelock College in 1996 and used it to teach countless preschool children including at Explorations, Beginning Years, and Norfolk Children’s School. Ensuring that the whole child was supported in their own success, Jean was a passionate Educational Advocate for many years with her impact extending beyond the student to their teachers, administrators, and the students’ families. Jean was a caring, compassionate, and kind life-long learner who loved reading, a good Hallmark movie, snuggling her cats and dogs throughout the years, and spending her time with family. For her, books were a love language where she devoured content to help others and often gifted copies of inspiring texts that were hand picked speaking to whatever joy or sorrow they faced in that moment of their lives. Jean enjoyed connecting with friends over a meal or coffee, had stamina and interest for long detailed conversations which could easily end with "one more thing before I let you go," and inevitably left her company feeling seen, loved, and supported. She exemplified and embraced the best of Medfield by supporting local artisans and any team or troop fundraising, attending community gatherings and parades, and connecting with the Medfield Fire Department and their families for so many years. Even with the exuberance she shared in her professional works, hobbies, and social activities, her smile was brightest when she spoke of or spent time with family. She was enormously proud of the lives that her children, Erin and Neil, have built and the families they are raising and was overjoyed to be Grammy to Emma, Jack, and Connor. Being by the ocean in Falmouth surrounded by her husband, children, beloved grandchildren, and grandpups brought her immense joy each summer and was a culmination of her favorite things. After nourishing others, she recharged at the beach restored by the waves, sand in her toes, and the simple meditation of collecting shells. Jean was predeceased by her father, George, and her mother, Marie. She is survived by her husband Bill Kingsbury, daughter Erin and her husband Kevin Fleming of Medway, her son Neil Kingsbury and his wife Megan of Medfield, her grandchildren Emma, Jack, and Connor, her brother Mark St. Pierre and his wife Teri of Falmouth, and eight nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Roberts Mitchell Funeral Home in Medfield (https://www. robertsmitchellcaruso. com). Service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, 10:00am at St. Edward the Confessor Church followed by interment at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street, Medfield MA.
