Elizabeth "Betty" (Larrabee) Brow, age 89, passed away peacefully at Harbor House in Hingham, Massachusetts October 1, 2023. The beloved wife for 60 years to the late Warren Brow. A loving mother to Marie Desmond and her husband Barry of Weymouth, Michael of Braintree, James and his wife Ann of Weymouth. Sister to Joseph Larrabee of Cohasset, Paul Larrabee of Florida, and the late Virginia Willis. Survived by her brother-in-law Bernard Brow of Louisiana and sister-in-law Alicia Thurberg of Wareham. Cherished Nana to her munchkins Christopher, Amy, and Erin Desmond; Samantha, Sarah, John, and Katherine Brow and honorary grandmother to the late Dave Howley. Great grandmother to Henry Desmond and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Betty graduated from Milton High School in 1951 and started her professional career as a bank teller. In 1958 she married the love of her life, Warren. Betty was a long-time resident of Weymouth. She left work to raise her children and would tell everyone those were the best years of her life. When Betty went back to work, she did accounts receivable for Brow Oil and later Jet Products. She enjoyed town politics, volunteering at her children's schools, playing bingo and socializing with her friends. After retiring, she and Warren enjoyed spending time together traveling, watching the Red Sox, Patriots & Bruins, and being with their grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Sunday from 2-5 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Astrid R. BaileyOld Orchard Beach Astrid R. Bailey, 71, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Harbor House in Hingham, Massachusetts. She was born in Portland on November 12, 1952, a daughter of Remi and Yvette (Huloux) Rioux. She was a graduate of Portland High School and received a degree in business from Andover College. Astrid met her husband Harry (Bart) in Portland and they were married on August 28, 1976. They owned and operated Vacationland Broadcasting which included WPIG, WHYR, WIDE and WRED. Astrid handled all the sales for the radio stations while making many close friendships that she still treasures today. She enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and going to the beach. She also liked gardening and could be seen on one of her longs walks throughout the neighborhood over the years. Astrid loved to help people. She was a volunteer and board member of the Salvation Army, an organization she took great pride in. The organization meets human need wherever, whenever and however they can. Astrid was predeceased by her husband Harry Barton Bailey Jr. on December 5, 2022, her granddaughter Samantha Chantal Bailey and by her brother in law Earl Christensen. She is survived by her daughter Chantal (Bailey) Frenette and husband Ian, son Dane Remi Bailey and wife Wendy, grandchildren Hudson, Max and great grandson Gavin. She is also survived by sister's Murielle Christensen, Christiane Leclair and husband Dave and Brigitte Leask and fiance Rick Fitzsimmons, a niece and several nephews. Kristen Louise Grossman July 31, 1974 - November 21, 2023 Kristen L. (Blasberg) Grossman of Hingham, MA, passed from this world on November 21, 2023, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. She was 49. Beloved wife of Joshua S. Grossman of Hingham. Devoted mother to Theo W. Grossman and Tessa L. Grossman both of Hingham. Cherished daughter of Ronald Blasberg, MD, and Janet (Swiatek) Blasberg of Riverside CT. Sister of Eric J. Blasberg of Hingham. Daughter- in -law to Elaine Grossman of Carbondale, CO and Stewart Grossman of Truro, MA. Sister-in-law to Ali (Grossman) Baron and Gil Baron both of Los Angeles, CA. Aunt to Margaret "Mimi" Blasberg of Hingham, Sidney and Jules Baron both of Los Angeles, CA. Kristen leaves behind a small army of cherished friends. Also, the business she founded, Cycle Town fitness studio of Hingham and Marshfield. Kristen and her family are grateful for the care she received from Mass General Hospital, from City of Hope Cancer Center of Duarte, CA, and the Tam Healing Center of Quincy. Her care team was exceptional. Raised in Maryland, Kristen attended Churchill High School until her family moved to Riverside, CT, where she graduated from Greenwich High School (1992). Proud graduate of Colgate University (1996) and member of its Diving Team (1993-1995). Kristen studied entrepreneurship and business management at Babson College, earning an MBA, (2006). Kristen was an inexhaustible source of positive energy. No challenge was too great if it stood in the way of having fun. "Build fun", she told her family. "Get Sh*t Done", read her coffee mug. She was deeply spiritual. In May, at the outset of treatment, she told her oncologist "it'll be okay, I know the universe has my back. " She was beautiful, driven, confident and generous. She had great instincts for business, for people and for life. A powerful athlete, a leader by example, she gathered no moss and opened her heart to others. Her children were her greatest joy. Her professional work is on display, every day, at . This foundation was near to Kristen's heart long before her own battle with cancer and is run by her dear friends who lost a brother to brain cancer. Frederic A. Hills passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of family and friends, on November 10. He was witty, humorous and kind, and had a gift for sharing his warmth of spirit. Frederic was born on November 21, 1930, in Brookline, MA, to Margaret and Fisher Hills. He grew up in Brookline and West Newton with his three younger siblings, Barbara, Jay and Carolyn. Theirs was a busy and loving household, shared with his grandmother, uncles and aunt, and they enjoyed many wonderful summers in Sanbornton, NH and on Drake's Island in Wells, ME. Fred was always curious about the world around him and its history, particularly the events of World War II which greatly impacted his experiences as a young boy. He continued to have a great passion for American history throughout his life, and his encyclopedic knowledge of historical events was impressive. He graduated in 1948 from Newton High School and went on to the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he studied engineering. During college, he became a proficient guitar and banjo player as well as an avid skier, occasionally competing in races. He had an adventurous spirit, and loved spending time outdoors camping, hiking, and sailing. A passion for science ran in his family, and after college he became an engineer, like his father and grandfather before him. His professional journey included roles at Honeywell and NASA, where he contributed to the development of computing systems for the Apollo program. Later, he joined the federal Department of Transportation where he helped modernize air traffic control systems. Of his many accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. He lived in Norwell until 1970 with his first wife, Joanna, and their three children Scott, Jennifer and Tad. Fred met his wife of nearly 50 years, Nancy Hills, when they were both working in Washington, D. C. They had two children, Jonathan and Susannah, whom they raised in Hingham, MA. In addition to his children, Fred will be lovingly remembered by his daughters-in-law, Leslie Hills, Lee Wade, and Jessica Hills, his sons-in-law, Peter MacDonald and David Nelinson, and his grandchildren Taylor and Lindsay Hills, Aidan and Duncan MacDonald, Elinor and Charlie Hills, and Calvin, Finn and Taj Hills. Daniel Scott Patrick Dodd, 58, of Hingham, Massachusetts passed away on November 21, 2023 at Tufts Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1965 to James Dodd and the late Virginia (MacArthur) Dodd, he grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts and completed school at North Quincy High School. He went on to graduate from Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 1987. He worked as a merchant marine and later became a systems analyst for State Street. Throughout these careers, he was given various travel opportunities which sparked his interest in exploring the world. He also took a liking to piloting small aircrafts for recreation. Besides these adventurous hobbies, Dan could also be found taking long walks on the beach, playing and watching golf, cheering on his favorite sports team the New England Patriots, or making delicious, homemade meals for his friends and family. Dan was also very passionate about animals. For the past couple of years, Dan volunteered at various local animal shelters and took up dog walking for families. Most of all, he loved watching his two daughters grow up, and he was extremely proud of their accomplishments. He was the husband of Karen (Mazzotta) Dodd, the loving father of Laura and Ellie Dodd of Hingham, the brother of James Dodd and his wife Jean of Quincy, Steven Dodd and his wife Patricia of Quincy, Susan Tabak and her husband Joseph of Weymouth, and Andrew Dodd of Quincy. He was also the uncle of many nieces and nephews. Steven Johnston Tower of Hingham, Massachusetts, died suddenly on November 15 at his home in Hingham. Starting his life in Hingham, Massachusetts, in 1960, he was the second son of Arthur Tower and Betty (Johnston) Tower. He attended North Adams State College but eventually graduated from Northeastern University. He would go on to spend the majority of his career as an insurance investigator. He found a sense of calm and excitement on two wheels, whether he was pedaling one of his many bikes or pushing the throttle as hard as it could go on his motorcycle. When not on a bike, he loved to spend time digging up quahogs near the family home in Mattapoisett and assisting with any project the community needed. Throughout his life, he also liked to channel his inner Herb Brooks as a longtime coach and administrator of Braintree Youth Hockey. He could also often be found volunteering his time at the Old Colony Lodge in Hingham, where he was a devoted Masonic member. He leaves behind his only son, Steven Jr. , of Rockland, Massachusetts, and former wife and friend Catherine Nelligan of Venice, Florida. He is also survived by his many cousins with whom he shared many memories in Mattapoisett. He has now joined his late brother Putt Jr. of Fairhaven and his mother and father. Michael Ford

Michael Edward Ford passed away on November 15th after a long and brave battle against cancer. Born in 1947, Michael was the son of Francis and Suzanne Ford. Being a lifelong resident of Hingham, he dedicated his life to public service. He served in the United States Air Force, making the ranks of Sergeant from 1967-1973, and notably being stationed at Aviano Air Base in Italy. Upon returning home from service, he proudly served the Hingham Fire Department for 32 years, receiving a commendation for his heroic acts at the Hingham Square fire in 1988. He took tremendous pride in being an engine operator throughout most of his career, taking on the role of Acting Lieutenant at the end of his career. Michael was committed to providing for his family, and he also began a second career as a Class A Licensed truck driver. He proudly worked for several companies including Paul Barry Waste Services, Iaria's Construction, Spirito Construction, and Plymouth and Brockton Bus Services. Some of his fondest memories were doing tree work with Ford Tree Services, a business proudly founded by his father. This was a family trade that he took part in starting at the age of twelve, and something that he was passionate about his entire life. After many years of hard work, Michael was able to enjoy a full retirement. He loved walking and riding his bike all over town. He especially enjoyed his visits to Weir River Farm, where he volunteered a lot of his time. One of the most endearing things about Michael was his love for all animals, especially dogs. Michael leaves behind his wife of 55 years Linda (Edvall) Ford, sister Jacqueline Timmons of North Waterboro, ME, daughters Suzanne Caparrotta of Weymouth, Sherry Messias of Carver, and son Thomas Ford and his wife Sarah of Hanover. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He will be reunited with his parents, his brother Peter Ford and his son Michael Ford. Timothy J. Coleman died the evening of November 11, 2023 of cardiac complications. He was 71. Tim, as he was known to friends and family, was born January 21, 1952 in Hingham, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro NH, where he also played hockey avidly. Professionally, Tim was a top certified industrial coatings specialist who worked on large ships and industrial projects to ensure that construction crews met stringent quality standards when painting. His residence was in West Bath, Maine, where his love of the sea and boats, as well as unique vehicles of a certain age, could be more readily enjoyed. Tim had a gift for being able to tackle just about any project, and always seemed to be fixing something for someone; his willingness to help was a commodity in large supply, well known to all. He had an active mind and a love of history and the old west. His exceptional personality, warmth, and inimitable, witty sense of humor will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. He is survived by his partner of 26 years, Paula Hart. He also leaves behind son Sean Coleman, his wife Cara, granddaughter Abigail, son Matthew Coleman, daughter Meghan Ramsey, and her partner Dan Jensen, along with his former wife and mother to his three children, Starla Coleman, as well as Paula's three children, Theresa Ciarfella, Douglas Ciarfella, and Christina Ciarfella. He was the 5th of 6 children and is also survived by siblings Ellen Coleman, Francis Coleman and his wife Theresa, Margaret Coleman, Connie Coleman, and Mary Coleman along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Janet (Ford) Magner, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Magner. Loving mother to Robert Magner and his wife Tikoo of Shrewsbury, Janet Daigle and her husband Thomas of Louisiana, Kathy Magner (Packard) of Hingham, John Magner and his wife Michelle of Hingham, Michael Magner and his wife Anna of Dartmouth, Brian Magner and his wife Erica of Hingham, and the late Rachel Magner. Grandmother of 19 loving grandchildren. Sister of Lawrence Ford (Marylou) of Maine, Paul Ford (Joyce) of Connecticut, and John Ford (Michal) of Florida. She is also survived by Bonnie, her loyal canine companion. Mrs. Magner was born in Brighton and raised in Hingham and was a graduate of Hingham High School, class of 1956. She was a paraprofessional in the Hingham School systems for many years. She was also a volunteer with the Swim with a Special Child program in Weymouth. She was an active member of the St. Paul Church and community. She was a wonderful woman who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Iris M. Tolbert, 90, of Hingham, MA, died after a brief recurrence of lung cancer on October 21, 2023. She was known for her wry sense of humor, her interest and involvement in politics, her devotion to her family and friends, and her love of classical music and the arts. Iris was born in Boston in 1933 to Frances (Sally) and Benjamin Moldaw. She was raised in Brookline and attended Brookline public schools and Boston University. Iris worked at MIT for a number of years, first in the Department of Physics, and then as the administrative assistant to the head of the Department of Architecture. It was there that she met her future husband, Ralph, in 1960, where he was studying for his architecture degree. "She had such style," Ralph said, "that heads would turn when she walked across the drafting room. " They were married in London in 1962. Iris and Ralph raised their children, Jeff and Elizabeth, in Newton, where Iris was actively involved in the PTA and Newton politics. She later worked in several administrative positions, including the Center for Survey Research at UMass Boston. In 2000, Iris and Ralph retired and moved to Centerville on Cape Cod, where they lived for 15 years. They then relocated to Linden Ponds in Hingham. Iris is survived by her husband and children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Lillian Davis. A gathering of friends will be held in the spring.
