Elizabeth C. "Betty" Anderson, 102, of West Hartford, passed away on June 18, 2022. Born in Westfield, MA on April 8, 1920, the daughter of the late Karol and Victoria Bernice (Tarsa) Taraszka. Betty was raised in Westfield, MA. and attended local schools. Betty worked at King Philip School and Hall High School in West Hartford from 1961 to 1988 where she specialized as a cook and baker She lived on Hartwell Rd. in West Hartford from 1960-2015. She loved hosting Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthday parties, showers, reunions and other celebrations, and every detail had to be perfect. Betty loved to entertain. Betty won many awards for her baking from the Connecticut School Food Service competitions,and she was well known for creating magnificent wedding cakes that were as delicious as they were beautiful. At Christmas, Betty baked dozens of delicious and beautifully decorated cookies to give to relatives, friends, and neighbors. Betty was an active member of West Hartford United Methodist Church for over 75 years. She was a talented crafter and co-chaired the church fair and fair workshops for many years, an event that she truly enjoyed. She also taught church school kindergarten, sang in the church choir for over 30 years, and upon retirement joined the "Monday Morning Missions" group, helping to make a variety of items that the group would donate to various non-profits. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Anderson Campbell Ferguson of West Hartford, her granddaughters, Elizabeth J. Michelson (Peter) of West Simsbury, Kristen J. Wilder (Larry) of Simsbury, her great-grandsons, Joshua, Andrew, and Jacob Michelson of West Simsbury, and Tilden and Anderson Wilder of Simsbury. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, David L. Anderson and her sons-in-law, Richard J. Campbell and Wayne E. Ferguson. Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Betty's memory may be made to West Hartford United Methodist Church, 1358 New Britain Ave. , West Hartford, CT. , 06110 to support the Operation Christmas Child Ministry, a mission that Betty held very close to her heart.
