Elisha Valentine Pfeiffer, age 44, died September 28, 2023, in Morganville, KS. She was born on, February 14, 1979, Valentine's Day, in Manhattan, KS to Roxanne (Bolek) and Lance Pfeiffer. She completed her GED in 1996, after giving birth to her oldest son, Izic Stogsdill. Elisha began working for Combined Insurance from 1996 to 1997. She became the youngest female at age 18, with the highest scores in insurance sales, making the cover of USA TODAY magazine. Elisha then had three additional beautiful children. Michael Tracy Jr. , Ellexis Tracy, and Aleana Dugan while completing her CNA. In 2018, she began working for KSU as a painter. During this she volunteered her time bringing awareness to human trafficking. She worked odd jobs, cleaning office spaces and rental homes for the rest of her short life. Elisha was loved by many. She loved helping people with any chore or task, never saying no. She loved to sing and dance to music of all genres. Elisha could charm her way into the heart of every child she met. Her enthusiasm and spirit would always captivate the hearts of those she encountered. Elisha had the nostalgia and charm that made her unforgettable and adored by everyone. Jack Wilder, 88, of Clay Center died on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Advena Living of Clay Center, Kansas. He was born on September 21, 1935 in Clay Center, the son of Charles and Viola (Gebhardt) Wilder. Jack grew up in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1953. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1953-1957, returning to Clay Center in 1957 and worked at Sears-Roebuck for a short time. Jack married Irene Walsh and they later divorced. He then married Darylene (Gunter) Carver on December 10, 1966 and she preceded him in death on October 20, 2023. Jack started his own wholesale business, selling various items to convenience stores in the surrounding areas for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where he was an usher, Elder and a member of the evangelical committee. Jack was also a member of the American Legion. He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Jacky; great granddaughter, Saraya Ciampa and sister JoAnn Wilder. Jack is survived by his daughters, Sherry and husband, Christian Ruiz of Andover, KS, Lisa and husband, Tim Kaufman of Clay Center, KS, Darla Wilder of Junction City, KS, and Linda and husband, Dennis Parry of Moundridge, KS; son, James "Jay" Carver; 15 grandchildren, Jill Wasko, Mindy (David) Parry, Holly (Matt) Plank, Jesse Taunton (Amy), Jareth Taunton, Aaron Jones, Jon (Sari) Cunningham, Jason (Rachel) Cunningham, Jeremy Cunningham, Jacob Ruiz, Ray Davis, Jennifer (Phillip) Ciampa, Lacy (Mike) Abell, Amanda Houchin (Clayton Mason) and Michael Houchin and 30 great grandchildren, Adelyn, Baby Parry, Paisley, Lucas, Elijah, Caden, Chance, Aeriana, Clara, Corbin, Titus, Lydia, Gideon, Evangeline, Ezra, Chloe, Abigail, Ryland, Emma, Izzy, Ally, Jeremiah, Gracelyn, Ezra, Lily, Isaiah, TJ, Monica, Hunter Ray and Hailyn. Gail Habluetzel, 77, passed away peacefully November 16, 2023, at Linn Community Nursing Home from complications due to Parkinson's Disease. Gail was born July 15, 1946, in Clay Center, the third son of Lawrence and Maxine (Strom) Habluetzel. He graduated from CCCHS in 1964 and earned a Journalism degree at the University of Kansas in 1968. Gail met and married the love of his life, Marsha Decker, while in college. He and Marsha lived in California and Texas, but eventually made their way back to Clay Center, where they have lived for 43 years. Gail served with Campus Crusade for Christ for many years, first as an editor of a Christian athletic magazine, then with a touring singing group. This led to quite a bit of travel around mainland U. S. , as well as Hawaii, Canada and Europe. Gail's faith in Jesus Christ was always the most important thing in his life. When Gail and Marsha moved back to Clay Center, Gail was hired as a staff member for Big Lakes Developmental Center and worked there for 25 years in various roles. He retired in 2006 as BLDC's Clay Center Services Director. Gail was heavily involved in the Evangelical Covenant Church, serving in multiple roles throughout his years of membership. Gail was known for his love of music and his beautiful singing voice, and was happy to sing for special programs, weddings, and funerals in the community. He also enjoyed being "Uncle Sam" for nine years during Clay Center's Fourth of July parades, which usually involved singing in costume in a special program on the Courthouse Square. 4-H was another place where Gail served in the roles of club leader, camp counselor, food stand manager, and fair board member during the years his children were involved. He also served on the boards of the United Way and the Clay Center Chamber of Commerce. Gail was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Maxine, and older brother, Loy Habluetzel. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marsha, of 55 years, and one brother, Larry (Carol) Habluetzel of Overland Park, Kansas. Children: Amy (John) Battenfield of Clay Center, Kansas; Carrie (Matthew) Macy of Wichita, Kansas; Adam (Angel) Habluetzel of Grand Junction, Colorado; Mark (Lisa) Habluetzel of Ramstein Air Base, Germany. Gail was also blessed with and survived by eight grandsons, three granddaughters, one great-grandson, three nephews, and one niece. Private Family Burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. William "Bill" Malcolm, 74, died October 15, 2023, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka KS. He was born January 14, 1949, in Wichita, KS to Jack M. and Marjorie E. Malcolm. Bill graduated from Wichita South High School in 1967. He pursued his college education at Wichita State University then went on to complete his Law Degree at Washburn Law School, Topeka, KS. He had a very successful Law Practice in Clay Center, KS. Later in his career, he was retained for 2 terms as a Magistrate Judge in Clay and Riley County. Bill was a very honorable, respected, and dedicated Judge in which he took a great amount of pride! He was a compassionate man who viewed life through the lens of fairness and truth. He had an enthusiasm for conversation. Not only did he love to talk and share his time and opinions with others, but he had an amazing gift of listening. He always carried a sense of humor with him and laughed easily. Bill found joy in simple things, especially hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also was very proud to be a K-State football and basketball fan. Bill was proceeded in death by his parents Jack and Marjorie Malcolm. Anne Marie (Thompson) Pfizenmaier, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. She was born July 26, 1936 at the Clay Center Hospital. She was the first child of Helen Marsh and Marvin Stevenson. She grew up on the family farm near Idana. On October 28, 1956 Anne married Duaine Thompson at the Presbyterian Church in Idana. They were married for 47 years. Most of their lives together they lived 12 miles north of Clay Center on Highway 15. Anne's parents wanted her to go to Clay Center to High School. In those days there were no school buses. Her mother rented her a room in town to stay during the week. Her Mom & Dad drop her off Sunday night and pick her up Friday afternoon. After school she would clean houses for spending money. The summer after graduating from Clay Center Community High School, Anne started working at the ASC office in Clay Center. She continued to work there after marrying Duaine and until her first son was born. Anne then stayed home to raise her family and help on the farm. After her boys were married and moved away she returned to the ASC office. She started as District Secretary and retired in December 2003 as District Manager. Besides being a mother, Anne was a member of the Fact United Methodist Church and was a very active member of the Methodist Ladies Aid. Anne also drove the school bus for Clay Center public schools for a few years. After retirement she volunteered at the Red Cross & Apollo Towers. Anne joined a quilting group that would gather weekly. Anne and Duaine lived on the farm until Duaine passed away in 2003. Anne then moved to Clay Center. She married Stanley Pfizenmaier in 2011. She enjoyed being part of a large family with many activities. Stanley and Anne took several trips together, including trips to Germany and Alaska. Anne was a talented cook, seamstress and bookkeeper. Her kindness towards others was unmatched and her love and loyalty towards her community was admired by all. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards with friends and quilting. Her family and friends would enjoy her marshmallow salad and roast beef on the holidays as well as many other specialties she would whip up in the kitchen. Survivors include her 2nd husband Stanley Pfizenmaier Sr. ; son, Gary Thompson and his wife Karen, of Lindsborg; son, Terry Thompson and wife Laura, of Talala, OK. 5 grandchildren Leslie Hecker (Gregory) of Lindsborg, KS, Jesse Thompson (Rosie) of Leander, TX, Meaghan Umbarger (Evan), Kylee Harper ( Layne) and Cassie Thompson all of Talala, OK, 10 great grandchildren, and sisters, Louise Ross of Carthage, MO and Linda Schivoni of Overland Park, KSAnne was also preceded in death by her parents Helen & Marvin Stevenson, Brothers Daniel and Lee Stevenson, and Great Granddaughter Abigail Hecker. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15 from 2-5PM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas. A Celebration of Anne's life will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, October 16 at the Clay Center United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Parallel Cemetery in Washington County, Kansas.
