Elisabeth (nee Hofmann) West, 94 formerly of Freudenberg Germany, Rockledge and Huntingdon Valley PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. Joseph Manor on Tuesday September the 5th. Elisabeth was born in Germany, on June 21, 1929, daughter of the late Anna (Keck) and Lorenz Hofmann. She is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin, brothers Josef, Anton, Peter, Robert and sisters Louise and Rita. Beloved mother of Robert (Linda), John (Karen) and Thomas (Trish)Grandmother of Nicole, Linda, Robert, Matthew, Justin, Melanie, John Jr, Matthew, Amanda, Thomas Jr. , Victoria and Rebecca. Great Grandmother of David, Sarah, Patrick, Sophia, Samantha, Miles, Carter, Ryan and Nolan. Also survived by many family members in Germany. She worked at Cheltenham Bank in Rockledge Pa for many years. Relatives and Friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday September the 9th from 9-10 AM and her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM both at the Provincialate Chapel 521 Moredon Rd. in Huntingdon Valley, PA. She enjoyed a full life of gardening, traveling and later, being the greatest Great Grammy to her 11 "little cherubs". Mary is survived by her children, William J. Schneider, Jr. (Patrice), Theresa McDonald, Lawrence E. Schneider, Beth Ann Lambert; Grandchildren, Colleen Regan (Jennifer Pratt), the late Christine Schneider, William J. Schneider III (Christina M. ), Jacqueline Kinney (Michael), Kevin Lambert, Nicholas Lambert; and Great-Grandchildren, Tessa, Ben, Addy, Izzie, Peyton, Gabe, Skyelin, Hannah, William IV, Samuel, and Lincoln James. She is survived by her brothers George McGowan (Mary) and Fred McGowan (Sue), and she was predeceased by her brothers Thomas McGowan and Michael McGowan and her beloved sister and best friend, Kathleen Warner. Joseph Arthur Baals (July 13, 1927 - November 6, 2023) Joseph Arthur Baals, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle passed away on November 6, 2023, at the age of 96 in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. He was born on July 13, 1927, in Bellmawr, New Jersey, to his loving parents, Gertrude Nellie (Haines) and William Theodor Baals. Papa Joe, as he was affectionately known, was the embodiment of a life well-lived and was a cherished figure in the lives of his family and friends. Joe's journey through life was marked by profound connections and meaningful experiences. He was the son of the late Gertrude and William Baals and shared a special bond with his now deceased siblings William, Richard, Thomas, and a baby sister. Joseph was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Judy Ann Jacobson (Baals), and his cherished ex-wife and companion of over 50 years, Florence (Vaders). He is survived by his loving daughter Karen (Baals) Jaxheimer, five grandchildren, Amanda Jaxheimer (Bob), David Jaxheimer (Katelyn), Steven Jacobson, Leandra Jacobson-Rolf (Greg), and Juliette Jacobson. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, David Joseph, Ella Fae, and Henry James Jaxheimer, as well as Lillian Rose Rolf. Joe's legacy lives on in the hearts and memories of his family, where his presence will forever be felt. Joe's life was rich in experiences, and he was not one to be defined by the ordinary. He served as a Private First Class in the United States Army. Beyond his military service, he had many fascinating life experiences, working as a rodeo clown, cook, farmer, mechanic, driver, house mover, and as a mate on a fishing boat - all showcasing his courage and quick thinking. Joe's passion for his family extended to creating memorable moments. He maintained a summer home in Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, which became a cherished gathering place for his children and grandchildren. The warm summer days spent there were filled with laughter, love, and joy. Additionally, he spent winters in Florida before retiring in Holiday, Florida, where he could continue to savor the sun and relaxation. Even in his retirement, Joe remained active, managing the state barn at Tampa Bay Downs Racetrack. He made it a point to visit his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, relishing in the simple joys of life. His presence was a constant source of warmth, wisdom, and joy providing guidance and support to his loved ones. Joseph Arthur Baals was a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is one of love, strength, and a commitment to family that will continue to inspire generations to come. Today, as we bid farewell to Joseph, we remember the enduring love he shared with his family and the countless memories that will forever bring comfort and solace to those he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and cherished friend. Shirley Parker Curry, age 86, a longtime resident of Jenkintown, PA died on October 29, 2023. She was the devoted wife of the late Honorable Lawrence H. Curry for 61 years. Born in Salem, NJ on May 28, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer George Parker and the late Florence Sutton Parker. After graduating from Salem High School, Shirley attended Bucknell University. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and activist and dancer. She danced with the Philadelphia Civic Ballet for 20 years and taught ballet for 52 years. She retired from teaching in 2010. She had many interests and passions including dancing, baton twirling, swimming, reading, theatre, orchestra and politics. She was very active member of the Jenkintown community and served on the boards of Jenkintown Library, Settlement Music School, Jenkintown Music Theatre, Jenkintown Democratic Committee and Abington Hospital Institutional Review Board. Additionally, she served on the Pennsylvania Democratic Committee for 38 years. Shirley started her political involvement in 1960 when she became a "Kennedy Girl" and worked on the Kennedy campaign. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Germantown 66 years. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Jennifer Lynn Curry Coleman and Christopher Coleman, Jeffery L. Curry and Joyce Moss, Jacquelyn Curry Todaro and James Todaro; grandchildren: Christina Leigh Coleman and Daniel Johnson, Katherine Lynn Coleman Bintz and Gavin Bintz, Benjamin Curry Coleman, Emily Curry, Dylan Curry and Alan Doan, Tyler Curry, Courtney Anne Todaro and Jeremy E. Todaro; great-grandchildren: Reya Lynn Bintz, Clayton Bintz, Colten Johnson and Hugo Johnson. Relatives and friends will be received on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Road, Abington. Maureen Stanton, 73, of Horsham, PA, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023 peacefully after battling cancer the last couple of months. Maureen was born in Elkins Park, PA on September 2, 1950, a daughter of the late Mary (McGoldrick) and sister of the late Barry Stanton. She attended Melrose Academy and Gwynedd Mercy College where she received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Maureen worked as a nurse for many years helping patients with exceptional care before retiring in 2015. Maureen loved sports, especially baseball. She loved to attend Phillies games and cheer on her city. She loved to travel and has been all around the world. Maureen also loved to shop and collect one-of-a-kind pieces that she treasured dearly. Maureen is survived by her nieces and nephews, Maureen Regan, Brian Angiolillo (Kate Angiolillo), Andrew Regan, Brendan Regan, Sean Angiolillo, and Maura Angiolillo. She is also survived by her loving sisters Anne Angiolillo (Frank Angiolillo) Sheila Regan, and Mary Denise Stanton. Maureen is also survived by many other loving family and friends. Barbara (Fitzpatrick) McCole was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on September 17, 2023 at age 82. She was born to George and Mary (Kolebuk) Fitzpatrick on June 13, 1942. After graduating from Newton High School, she began her employment with the late Dr. Edward Hawke for many years, and worked at the former E. J. Brooks Company for 20 years. In 1961, she married Daniel (Don) McCole and raised four sons. After her retirement in 2003, she and her husband moved to North Carolina for ten years prior to the death of her husband in 2011. Shortly after his death, she moved to Millsboro, Delaware to be closer to her family. Barbara loved spending time at the beach with family and friends. Barbara enjoyed creating countless amounts of Halloween costumes for her grandchildren and many knitted items for family. Many will remember her sitting on her porch in Newton, NJ reading, welcoming anyone she cared about into her home. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Don, her parents, brother Don Fitzpatrick, and her sisters Judith, MaryLee, and Jane. Barbara is survived by her four sons; David, Kevin, Randy and Dennis, her sister Rita Crawn, her seven grandchildren; Samantha, Kevin Jr. , Daniel, David Jr. , Sean, Kristen and Timothy, her nine great-grandchildren; Hannah, Teagan, Kaleb, Ella, Laya, Journey, Acadia, Theo, and Brayden as well as several nieces and nephews. At Barbara's request of cremation, there will be no funeral. The family asks that donations be sent to St. Jude's Cancer Center in her memory.Show more
