Elida Montez Obituary

Elida Montez, 91, of Rotan, Texas passed away Friday, April 21, 2023. Services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rotan with burial to follow in Belvieu Cemetery. Rosary will be 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Elida was born May 26, 1931 in Rio Grande to the late Rosendo and Amada (Gonzalez) Olguin. She was a very caring and compassionate woman. Elida loved to read and enjoyed flowers. She worked as a nurse for the Fisher County Hospital for several years. Elida also worked for nursing homes in Roby, Rotan and Hamlin. She will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents. Elida is survived by her husband, Jessie Montez; children, Jasmine Almanza (Felix), Hector Velez (Norma), Lisa Velez, Armando Montez, Dee Ann Montez Springfield, Michael Montez (Michelle) and, Mitchell Montez (Amanda); twenty-five grandchildren; and thirty-one great grandchildren.
