Alan Olesky

Alan Olesky

Age - 68

November 8, 2023

Alan (Cook) Olesky, 68, of Brick Township, NJ (formerly of Brielle), passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Imperial Healthcare in Neptune after a long battle with diabetes and its complications. He is survived by his daughter Jenn Olesky of Red Bank, his brother Michael Olesky and wife Sarah of Monroe Township, his brother Daniel Olesky and wife Mary of Howell Township, nephew Daniel Olesky and partner Carrie Lenahan, nephew David Olesky and wife Inara, former wife Fern Olesky of Red Bank, many relatives and friends, and his beloved dog Scout who meant the world to him. Alan was the son of Michael J and Helen A Olesky of Linden who predeceased him. Al was born in Elizabeth and attended the Linden public schools and Kean College in Union. He worked at the Exxon Bayway Refinery and Chemical Plant for 21 years as an assistant process operator, machinist, mechanical trainer, and warehouse manager. Al was particularly proud of his role as a facilitator for "Investment in Excellence", an interpersonal skills course, at the Bayway sites. Al continued his career working at the Monmouth County Material Processing and Recovery Facility in Tinton Falls as a maintenance/purchasing clerk from which he retired in 2013. Since his move to Brielle from Linden in 1992, Al was an active member of the Church in Brielle, participating in the choir as well as assisting with church communications and Sunday services. He continued this work until his disability prevented him from doing so. Of course, Al was a big fan of the New York Rangers and the New York Yankees. He thoroughly enjoyed the hockey playoffs in 1994 when the Rangers won the Stanley Cup (see his picture with the actual cup). And finally, together with his brothers Mike and Dan, they attended Derek Jeter's last game at Yankee Stadium together -- a game the Yankees won on a Jeter single in the ninth inning. A memorable occasion for all three brothers! At Alan's wishes, his body will be cremated, and his ashes will be interred privately at the Church in Brielle at a future date. Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of Alan's life at the Orender Family Home for Funerals in Manasquan, NJ on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 12 noon to 3 PM.
