Eleanor Backus Obituary

Eleanor "Pious" Rose Backus passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20th, a month before her 105th birthday. Born to Frank and Frances (Tomporowski) Niedjelski, Pious was one of five children, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Growing up in Minneapolis on the Mississippi River, she met and married Joseph Backus in 1936 and they were married 63 happy years. They moved to Seattle with two children for job opportunities after WWII. Two more children were born in Seattle. Pious was a very creative person, sewing all her own clothes and those of her daughters. She was a world class knitter, crossword puzzle solver, voracious reader, and a student of her Polish heritage before the age of computers. She and Joe loved to travel, mostly around the US, and cruises and trips abroad. Pious was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; three sisters; one brother; daughter, Alexandra; son, Bruce; and granddaughter, Karen. Her surviving family include daughter, Jody Allamano (Mark); son, Robert Backus (Linda); grandchildren, Stephanie Kilburg, Kari Rowden, Joe Backus, and Alex Allamano; great-grandchildren, Kaytlynn and Belle; and great-great granddaughter, Tallulah Rose. Interment was held at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline. Arrangements were entrusted to The Stone Chapel Poulsbo Mortuary.

Carolina Garza Wilson, 84, of Poulsbo, Washington, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023 with family at her side. Carolina was born on October 9, 1939 to Carlos Garza (father) and Juanita Garcia Garza (mother) in Berclair, Texas. She was the 6th child of 14 children. In 1964 she met Phillip Wilson, US Navy, who was stationed at Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas. Carolina and Phillip married on October 6, 1966. She had five children: Tony (died 2019), Deborah, Delia, Evelyn, and Cindy. Carolina was a Navy wife whose travels brought her to Japan, the Philippines, and Hawaii. She was a faithful Christian and an avid gardener, known for her amazing rose garden. Carolina is survived by her husband, Phillip, four daughters, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Alice R Schultz passed away on 11/28/2023 at the age of 91. Alice was a loving mom, friend and gramm. Everyone who met Alice enjoyed speaking with her, she was well traveled and her salty talk and her Boston accent were distinct. Alice would tell you what she thought no matter what. Mom thoroughly enjoyed her relatives, friends, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be loved and missed. A life well lived. Jim went home to Jesus on Nov. 27,2023. He was born on July 14, 1957, to Jerry and Carol Berbells in Raymond, WA. He graduated from Ingraham High School in Seattle, WA. in 1976. He married his wife, Laurie in 1978. He enjoyed caring for her for almost 45 years. Jim proudly served the United States Navy through the Submarine Force, serving on 3 submarines, the USS Ethan Allen, USS Roosevelt, and the USS Sam Houston. He retired from NUWC Division Keyport. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, hunting, camping, crabbing, golfing, berry picking, razor clamming. He also was a very good cook and enjoyed hosting parties. He also enjoyed travelling. He attended Peninsula Bible Fellowship and enjoyed our Care Group very much. His life was full of joy. He is predeceased by his mother, Grand Parents, one Aunt and Uncle, one cousin. He is survived by his wife, Laurie, his father, Jerry, brother Gary, Sisters Cheryl and Christina, Aunts and Uncle, nieces, nephews, and many friends. I would like to thank Dr. Jacob Mathew, and Tony and Valerie White who helped tremendously with Jim's care as he prepared to go to Heaven. Lance Pansa

Lance D. Pansa peacefully embraced his eternal rest on November 13, 2023, following a courageous battle against kidney cancer. Born on February 21, 1965, in Phoenix, Arizona to the late Joseph Pansa and Linda Pansa (Simonds). Lance spent his formative years in Millville, New Jersey. In 1983, he graduated from Millville High School and promptly enlisted in the US Navy, where he served with pride as an Interior Communications Electrician for six years. After an honorable discharge, he embarked on a 31-year career at Bird Electric in Poulsbo, Washington. Lance forged enduring connections with colleagues, most notably Steve Raymond, whose unwavering support became a vital anchor. Eager to share his electrical expertise, Lance imparted his knowledge to coworkers and both of his sons and son-in-law, fostering their success and appreciation for the electrician's craft. Lance is survived by his devoted wife, Jennifer Pansa, and their six children: Jacob Huelsnitz, Andrea Huelsnitz, Brianna Pansa (Tyler Salinas), Rebekah Huelsnitz, Elijah Pansa, and Jaden Dashner. His mother Linda Pansa and his siblings, Jim Pansa, Wayne Pansa (Vicki) and Mike Pansa (Beth), also mourn his passing. Lance found immense joy in his cherished grandchildren, Teagan, and Jrae Salinas. In his own words, Lance considered his greatest accomplishment to be instilling good morals in his children through the example of his own life. His profound passion lay in caring for and providing for his family, a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those he loved and profoundly influenced. In accordance with Lance's wishes, a Celebration of Life BBQ will be held in the near future, with the date to be determined.
