Heather Vinette Hobson ObituaryHeather Vinette Thesell Hobson passed away unexpectedly in her sleep on November 20, 2023, due to complications of COPD. She was 65. She was born December 2, 1957, in Santa Monica, California to Harold and Edwina Thesell (nee O'Donnell) and spent her formative years in southern California and dedicated the early part of her life to raising her family. She relocated her family to the Sacramento area in 1990. Heather led a life devoted to her family and service to others. As early as high school, it was clear that her interest in the medical field was strong, particularly elder care. Her first job was as a volunteer at a skilled nursing facility in the San Fernando Valley. This passion continued throughout her 50-year career in health care. She earned her licensed vocational nurse degree in 1995, and was an accomplished nurse, administrator, and teacher. Even in her "retirement" in 2020, she volunteered her time to those in need, providing direct care to those less fortunate in her community. Heather's Christian faith was important throughout her entire life. An active member of her Summit Church community, she was ordained as a chaplain in 2018, regularly providing ministry to those in her community. At her core, Heather was a caregiver. An encouraging and optimistic person, Heather was a positive force to those around her. She lived a life of service both to her family and her community and tirelessly gave her time and energy to those in need. She was an angel on this earth, and her passing leaves a void that will never be filled. A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Heather's greatest joy was her family. Heather is survived by her husband Mike, whom she met in high school, and their children Gene Womack of Rocklin, Doug Hobson (Jennifer) of Lincoln, Brian Forsberg of Lincoln, and Kaleigh Womack Phan (John) of Applegate, and 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Melanie Thesell Lorensen of Rancho Cordova and brother David Thesell of Fair Oaks. * A memorial service in celebration of her life is scheduled:January 6, 2024, 2-6pm at McBean Pavilion Lincoln CA. * In lieu of flowers, Heather's family encourages contributions to competent, faith-based organizations.
