NORTHBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS POTOMAC, MARYLAND Rosi M. Heinsohn, caring mother and grandmother and good friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 years on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Rosi, born in Schweinfurt, Bavaria, Germany as Maria Rosa Bohnengel, was the youngest of four children to Andreas and Margareta (Drescher) Bohnengel. In 1952, Rosi married Gerd G. Heinsohn. In 1955 Gerd and Rosi immigrated along with their young daughter to the United States. Their son was born shortly thereafter. The couple made Maryland their home for the next 45 years, settling in Potomac. Rosi devoted her early years to raising her daughter and son. She was employed as a bookkeeper in the banking industry, a gift shop, and within the non-profit social services sector. She also worked as a medical secretary at a major hospital. Rosi enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and always kept her home cozy, inviting, and elegant. With a welcoming personality and loving heart, Rosi enjoyed entertaining guests and was known for her culinary and baking skills. She delighted in making traditional German cakes, like Streuselkuchen, and fancy tortes for birthdays and experimenting with different kinds of breads, like rye, potato, and olive, all treats that became staples and for which she was well known. She also found great joy in sharing traditional as well as newly discovered recipes and teaching her granddaughters her baking methods. In 2000, after 48 years of marriage, Gerd passed away. Rosi would remain at her home in Maryland until 2003 when she relocated to Northborough, MA. Here, she enjoyed her new surroundings and made many friends. She was an active participant in many of the activities offered by the Northborough Senior Center, including the book club. A resilient woman, Rosi was a model for tenacity and positivity; her encouraging smile and grounded advice brightened low moments and provided strength for overcoming hardship. Rosi traveled well into her 80s, visiting family in her homeland of Germany, exploring other European countries, and taking car and bus excursions all over New England, the East Coast, and Canada. She was always very active, participating in regular exercise classes at the Senior Center and taking walks on local trails and at the nearby botanical garden. Throughout her life, some of Rosi's favorite pastimes were visiting art museums and attending music concerts with her family - mostly classical but some other genres, including a David Bowie concert in the 1970s! She also cherished keeping up relationships with friends and family near and far through written letters. Surviving Rosi is her daughter, Ingrid H. Molnar, and husband John of Northborough; her son, Gerd J. Heinsohn, and life partner Virginia Tippie of Annapolis, Maryland; five grandchildren, Christine Rogers, Lauren Heinsohn, Eric Heinsohn, Alexandra Molnar, and Zenya Molnar; and three great grandchildren, Benjamin, Donovan, and Miles Rogers. Also surviving Rosi are numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews residing in Germany. Rosi's three siblings, Margareta Klarowicz, Ludwig Bohnengel, and Otto Bohnengel, preceded her in death. There are no planned public services at this time. However, the family plans to host a celebration of life in 2024. The Heinsohn and Molnar families would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Notre Dame Hospice Care Team and to the staff at Coleman House of Northborough for the loving and supportive care shown to Rosi during her final days. Rivera Elvira

Rivera Elvira

Age - N/A

October 26, 2023

Elvira Rivera Martinez passed away peacefully and in the arms of her children, at her Northborough home at 12:58 am on October 18, 2023, at the age of 90. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and especially by her surviving three children Michael Foglia, Lillian Gonzalez and Marilyn Foglia, their spouses, four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Elvira was born in Maricao, Puerto Rico and was the youngest and last survivor of five sisters. She moved to New York with her older sister, Lydia, at the tender age of 14, where she lived for most of her life. She single-handedly raised three children while also caring for her elderly mom. She worked tirelessly, but never begrudgingly, as a seamstress to provide for her family. Elvira was graced with an incredibly kind, humble, playful, and pure soul. Even when she had little herself, she never failed to be generous to others. Despite her diminutive size of 4'10" she was a resilient force and fierce protector of her children. Her greatest joy was without a doubt being with family. She was a woman of unwavering faith and in her spare time played the guitar, self-taught, at her church for as long as her beautiful mind would allow her to do so. Having lived with dementia for many years, she was still able to recognize us and knew she was immensely loved. We love you mommy and thank you for teaching us to be strong and kind. You will live in our hearts forever, until we are together again. A memorial service for Elvira will be held at 6 pm on November 21, 2023 at St Bernadette's Parish, 266 Main Street, Northborough, MA 01523.Show more
