Elaine Warden Cullum, 92, of Cedar Grove, N. J. passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2023 surrounded by her children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Cullum, Jr. , and her son Paul F. Cullum III. Elaine was raised in South Orange and Sea Girt, and over 65 years ago moved to Cedar Grove where she raised her six children. Paul (Diana), Stephen (Candace), Noreen C. Nighland (Bill), Caren Scully (Bill), Margo Preziosi (Al) and Diana Smith (Darren). She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Prior to starting her family, she had an active modeling career. Always an overachiever, she went back to school and earned her LPN, RN and on to her Master's in nursing. While working as a nurse supervisor she was very active with Eye Bank of America. She will be remembered for her dynamic personality, quick wit, wonderful sense of humor, and her artful skill of knitting. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 4 - 8 p. m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, N. J. 07009. Rev. Raymond Thomas McKeon, 85, entered into Eternal Life on December 1, 2023. Visitation will be on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 4-8 p. m. at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Ave. , Cedar Grove, N. J. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 10:30-11 a. m. at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 339 Pompton Ave. , Cedar Grove. Born in Orange, N. J. to the late Robert and Andrea McKeon, he graduated from Seton Hall University, Orange, N. J. and then entered Immaculate Conception Seminary, Darlington, N. J. Rev. McKeon was ordained as a Priest of the Archdiocese of Newark on May 25, 1963 at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart by Archbishop Thomas A. Boland. Rev. McKeon's first assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Rose of Lima Parish, Short Hills, N. J. , and then served as parochial vicar at Blessed Sacrament/St. Charles Borromeo, Newark, N. J. , St. Michael's Church, Union, N. J. , Our Lady of Mercy Parish, Park Ridge, N. J. , Holy Rosary Parish, Edgewater, N. J. , and then served as a chaplain at St. Vincent Hospital, Montclair, N. J. His final assignment was as parochial vicar at St. Aedan's Church, Jersey City, and retired from active ministry on February 1, 1996. He was then in residence at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Jersey City, before moving to St. Ann's Home for the Aged, Jersey City in 2015. Predeceased by his parents, his brother, Robert T. McKeon, and his wife, Jane, and his sister-in-law, Eleanor, he is survived by his brother, Daniel J. McKeon, five nieces, a nephew, five great-nieces and a great-nephew. Joseph R. Effenberger of Roseland, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 28, 2023, at the age of 88. Joseph was born in Newark, NJ to Matilda (McCloskey) and Francis Effenberger. Joe received his BS degree from Bloomfield College. After marrying Sandra Osterstock they shared their lives in Belleville, East Orange, West Caldwell and Roseland, NJ. Embarking on a successful business career, Joe's professional journey began at Air Reduction before joining Stauffer Chemical Company in 1983. Following many years there he fulfilled his dream by co-founding E & H Products alongside a friend from Stauffer Chemical Company. He was a devoted member of Essex Fells Country Club for 30 years. Joe showcased his skills as a seasoned golfer on the green. Additionally, he was a long-standing parishioner of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament in Roseland for 50 years and was a lector. He was a masterful joke-teller, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather (Boppy). Joseph was predeceased by his brothers Edmund and Frank and his sister Kay. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra, and four children: Todd, Lauren (Jim), Kristin (Sean), Craig (Carina); and seven grandchildren: Ryan (Aubrey), Matthew (Megan), Kaitlyn, Ashley, James, Alexis and Julia. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Doctors without Borders would be greatly appreciated.
