He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Francisco Pantoja, and cousin, Daniel Pantoja. Betty McDowell Leigh, 81, passed away on February 18, 2024, surrounded by her loving daughters and their husbands. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Elvis Harold Leigh; parents, Archie and Scottie McDowell; sister, Hazel Lee; and brothers, JW McDowell, and Carlton McDowell. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Sandy Flanary (Ron), Sharon Barnhill (Chris) both of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Lois Rogers of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Wanda Jordan (David) of Conway, SC; grandchildren, Amber Scott, Morgan Bowen, Kris Flanary, Madison Fann and MaKenzie Flanary; and great grandchildren, Addysen Bowen, Landon Bowen, Kopeland Flanary, Maddux Fann, and Alex Scott. Betty was a loving mother and granny. She retired from Monsanto in 1998. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and spending time with her family. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Cindy Holland, Denise Greer, Becky Gustafson, Pam Barnhill and all the wonderful nurses and aides of Amedisys Hospice for their love and support. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home from 12:30 to 1:45 pm. Beatie Wilson Goldner of Fayetteville, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Garland Charles (G.C.) and Ruby Sink Wilson. She is survived by two sons, Jeff and wife, Denise of Longs, SC and Brian and wife, Gabriela of Holly Springs, NC; 5 grandchildren, Katie, Lauren, Cameron, Kayla and Kenzie; and great-grandson, Asher. Beatie attended Snyder Memorial Baptist Church for over 40 years and was active in Sunday School, Women’s Missionary Union, Fairy Godmothers, and several other church ministries. She retired as a librarian of Cumberland County Schools. Beatie was an avid crafter and held booths at the Holly Day Fair for several years. She enjoyed gardening and floral arranging, serving multiple positions in a local garden club “Dig and Dream” for 51 years. A celebration of life will be held in the chapel at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church at 3 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, with Rev. Sandy Saunders officiating. Thomas W. Eifert, DMin The Rev. Dr. Thomas William Eifert, 86, of Fayetteville, passed peacefully from us on February 16, 2024 and is now at home with his Lord and Savior. He was born to the late Edgar and Luella Eifert in Perham Minnesota on March 17, 1937. Tom comes from a distinguished line of Lutheran pastors including his father, grandfather and six uncles. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Concordia Senior College, Indiana; Bachelor of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; Master of Sacred Theology in Pastoral Counselling from Andover Newton Theological School, Boston; and Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counselling from the Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago. He served as pastor in Canton, Massachusetts; Malverne and Brooklyn, New York. He co-founded the Lutheran Counseling Center of New York. Among his many interests, Tom was a skilled carpenter, avid reader, creative writer, classical music enthusiast, and model railroader. He loved to have a good laugh and a fine glass of Tennessee whiskey. Tom is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Judi (Brill) Eifert. They were married in 1962 and had three children; Jennifer Kroez (Robert) of New York, Jonathan Eifert (Christina) of Wisconsin, and Elizabeth Bloom of New Jersey; five grandchildren; Matthew, Emilie, Anna, Thomas, and Hannah. Tom is survived also by his brother Daniel. He was loved and will be missed by many friends and extended family members. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, on Friday February 23 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church.
