Edwin C. "Bud" Linkenhoker, 93, of Princeton died Monday, June 20, 2022, at Princeton Health Care Center. Born August 12, 1928, in Princeton, he was the son of the late George William Linkenhoker, Sr. and Freda Virginia Bailey Kitts. Bud was a 1947 graduate of Princeton High School. He worked in the maintenance department for Norfolk-Southern Railroad before enlisting in the U. S. Army where he achieved rank of Sergeant and served during the Korean War. After his military service, Bud attended Automotive Training School in Pennsylvania. He then went on to own and operate several service stations throughout his life. He lived in Phoenix, AZ from 1961-1972, where he owned one of the largest Exxon Stations on the West Coast. After returning to Princeton, he opened Bud's Texaco. He then went to work with his son Mark. They owned and operated Link's Texaco in Princeton for several years before opening Link's Service Center. Bud was a member of Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, Princeton Masonic Lodge 134 AF&AM, Princeton Elks Lodge 1459, and Princeton Moose Lodge 1521. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George William "Bill" Linkenhoker, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Glenna Mae Lucas Linkenhoker; son Mark Linkenhoker of Princeton; daughter, Cheryl Linkenhoker Bender and husband Dan of Aledo, TX; and grandson, Jason Bender of Dallas, TX. In honoring Bud's wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercer County Animal Shelter, 961 Shelter Road, Princeton, WV 24740.
