Walnut Ridge- Edwin Wilfred Dunigan, 91, formerly of Monette passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at Walnut Ridge Nursing Center. He was born December 29, 1931 in Evening Shade to the late Edgar James and Eva Davis Dunigan. Mr. Dunigan served his country proudly as a Staff Sgt. in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1956. He was a member of the Monette American Legion Post 136 for many years. He was a long term member of the Black Oak Church of Christ and current member of Hoxie Church of Christ. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Everett Dunigan, Buddy Dunigan, J. C. Dunigan, Jimmy Dunigan and Linuel Dunigan and four sisters, Jo Golden, Vena Dunigan, Dora Dean Powell and Joy Self. He is survived by his daughters, Vickie Armbrust (Ken) of Jonesboro and Suzanne Price (Jim) of Walnut Ridge; grandson, Eric Walley and Deric Walley (Samantha) and a great-grandson, Max Walley. Services will be private with Eddie Dunigan and Chub Qualls officiating under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home. Honored to serve as pallbearers, Eric Walley, Deric Walley, Dickie Pace, Danny Dunigan, Jim Price and Ken Armbrust. He was preceded in death by his father James Darrell Edington, grandmother Mary Lou Smith and grandfather Bronson Smith. Nicholas Dale Stalnaker, aged 37 passed away in his home in Pocahontas, Arkansas on Saturday November 25, 2023. He was born on July 8, 1986, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his father Benny Stalnaker also of Pocahontas. Nicholas is survived by his mother Helen Endicott Humes of Pocahontas; siblings Jeremy Laina Stalnaker and Kyle Coley both of, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Cremation has been chosen as the method of final disposition, as requested by Nicholas. There will be a memorial service, at a later date, under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas. Frances Sloan, of Pocahontas, AR departed this life on November 27, 2023, at her home. She was born on July 10th, 1934, to the late Samuel Gant and Maggie Gant in Osceola, AR. She attended Kieser AR. High school. She was preceded in death by Samuel Gant, (father), Maggie Gant, (mother), Russell Sloan, (Husband), Rusty Sloan, (son), and Nellie Gant, (sister). Frances is survived by her daughter, Karen Pacini of Pocahontas, AR. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicholas Helm of Las Vegas, Nevada. , Jonathan Helm of Venus, Texas. , Sam Sloan of Pocahontas, AR. , Keith Sloan of Swifton, AR. , and Shannan Rhodes of Galesville, WI. Monette- Dixie Ann Bennett, 92, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023. She was born January 10, 1931 in Weona to the late Homer Hal and Beaulah May Denton Bradford. Dixie managed the Osceola Shoe Company and Frolic Footwear in Monette for several years. She owned and operated Dixie' Shop and Bepco in Monette and Crow's Nest in Marked Tree. After retiring she worked at Monette Manor for several years. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and her big smile for everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale George Bennett and son, George Hal Bennett. She was survived by her daughter, Reba Wimberley (Kevin) of Monette; granddaughter, Kristen Bennett Mangrum (Wayne) of Jonesboro; great-granddaughter, Allie Mangrum of Jonesboro; a sister, Donna Williamson (Jerry) of Mt. View; a brother, Les Bradford (Bettye) of Marked Tree; daughter-in-law, Melinda Cannon Bennett of Jonesboro; several nieces, nephews and friends. The visitation will be from 10:30 until 12:00 p. m. Monette- Jerry Leon "Peanut" Way Sr. , 77, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born May 22, 1946 in Monette to the late Thomas Earl and Mary Bearden Way. Jerry retired from Crop Production Service. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He was survived by his children, Jerry Way Jr. (Rebecca), Shelly Baney (Chris) and Sherry Way; grandchildren, Tyler Way (Brittany), Lauren Hilding and Rachel Hilding; great-grandchildren, Serenity Way and EverLee Woods and special friend, Francis Grant and many friends. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles Kelly. The visitation will be from 5 until 7:00 p. m. Monday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. A celebration of his life will be 11:00 a. m. Monette-- Alvis Lee Snider, 83, was born May 29, 1940, on the same farm where he lived when he passed away, on November 16, 2023. His parents were Eston and Veria Hodges Snider. He was united in marriage to Nan Etta Harrell on June 16, 1961. They celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year. He is survived by two children: Allison Paige Potter, of Memphis, TN and Stephanie Leigh Snider (Danilo Dragoni), of Carson City, Nevada; a brother, Rudy Snider (Patti), of Leachville: two sister-in laws, Susie McAfee, of Jonesboro, and Patti Snider, of Leachville; two grandchildren, Rachel Cupples (Nick) of Cordova, TN, and Joshua Potter, of Memphis; a great-grandchild, Cohen Cupples, of Wynne; nephews and nieces, Laura DiCriscio (Brad) of Pottstown, PA, Crystal Phelps (Brad), of Little Rock, Jerry Harrell McAfee, of Lafe, and Brandon Snider (Paige), of Leachville; great nephews and nieces, Colton DiCriscio, Lillith McAfee, Sylas Pettit, Natalia DiCriscio, Jagger Snider, and Bodhi Snider; and many beloved, classmates, cousins and friends. He was a sincere Christian and an active member of the Monette First Baptist Church, where he joyfully served as a Greeter. He was a graduate of Monette High School and the University of Arkansas, at Little Rock. He worked as an engineer at Jonesboro, Batesville, Jacksonville, Fayetteville, and Paragould, before becoming the Manager of the Monette Co-Op Gin for 28 years. He enjoyed most being a farmer and farmed up until the day he died. He loved playing basketball and baseball in high school and was a track star his Junior and Senior year, earning several regional and state awards. After high school, he played for independent baseball teams for over 20 years. He was an avid reader, and loved hunting, golf, camping, playing cards, Mexican Dominoes, and Genealogy. He served on many boards related to Agriculture and served several terms on the Monette Co-Op Gin board. He was a veteran with the Arkansas National Guard. His very favorite things involved spending time with his wife, his children and grandchildren, as they were the light of his life. Visitation will be Friday, from 1-3 p. m. at the Monette Baptist Church, with services to immediately follow at 3 p. m. Rev. Stan Ballard will officiate. Interment will follow in the Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Brandon Snider, Wayne Ray, W. T. Bibb, Wayne Latting, Jerry Yates, and Keven Varner. Honorary pallbearers are the MHS Class of 1957, Monette Co-Op Gin employees, and Co-Op board members. Thelma Louise Roy, 73, of St. Louis, MO. , departed this life on November 15, 2023, at her home with her loving daughter by her side along with other family and friends. She was born on July 7, 1950, to the late James Delbert Harris and Joyce Maxine Jones Harris in Harrisburg, AR. After graduating high school, Louise went to college earning several degrees to become a Chemist. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, James Delbert Harris and Joyce Dement; sister, Betty Jean Harris; nephews, Kim Lee and Greg Thomas; nieces, Debra McDade and Laura Thomas. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Roy Link and Joe Pounds; brothers, James (Barbara) Harris, and Richard (Roxane) Harris; sister, Mary (Donald) Dick; grandchildren, Zachary (Kara) Link and Logan Randazzo; nieces, Lorrie Rowlen, Shannon Oaks, Stacey Davis, Sonya Monaghan, Linda Massie and Tiffany Harris; nephews, Jimmy Harris, Mark Harris, Shawn Harris and Chris Lambert. Jonesboro- James Harold Chaplain, 87, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born July 24, 1936 to the late Ernest and Emma Herman Chaplain. James was a graduate of Valley View High School and Melton School of Business. He worked several years at Riceland Foods. He served proudly as a SSGT in the Arkansas National Guard. James was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He was the former owner of Chaplain Brothers Inc, Plumbing, Heating and Air and Electrical. He has also been the City of Jonesboro's Electrical Inspector for many years. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He is survived by his children, Tammy Piersall (Caleb) of Keller, TX, Steven Chaplain of Jonesboro and Jeff Chaplain (Shelley) of Brookland; asister, Brenda Bennett; a brother, Ricky Chaplain; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Faye Conway Chaplain; son, Terry Chaplain; a brother, Lonnie Chaplain and a sister, Bonnie Coggin. Jonesboro- Dovie Francis Groves, 81, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born August 27, 1942 in Jonesboro to the late Huey and Flora Mae Dunlap Gallion. She worked at Arkansas State University and Jr. Foods for several years. Dovie was all about her family and took care of her mother until she passed. She enjoyed watching wrestling and hallmark movies. She was a member of the Prospect Baptist Church. She was survived by her children, Steve Groves (Brenda) and Pamela Castleman; grandchildren, Melissa Murphy (Ronnie), Megan Rowe (Pat) and Jeffrey Reeves; step-granddaughter, Tiffany Loueallen; four great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Anita Mitchell parted this life Saturday, Nov. 11 2023 at Hospice House in Jonesboro at the age of 92. She was born August 16th, 1931 in Lepanto Arkanssa to the late Oscar and Edna Branum. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers and a granddaughter. She is survived by her three daughters, Reba Keegan, Debbie Partika and Brenda Marble. Several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist church. She loved flowers and working in her garden.
