Gaye F. Mock, 85, passed away on February 15, 2024, in Wytheville, VA. Born in Winston Salem on August 5, 1938, Gaye was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her devoted husband George Mock, son Andy Mock (Stephen Hale), daughter Laurie Mock, and grandson Brandon Mock. She is also survived by close family and friends Rhonda Mabe, April Harris, Will Foy. Gaye grew up in Winston Salem and attended James A. Gray High School, where she was a cheerleader, played percussion in the band, and excelled at basketball, tennis, and softball. In 1956, she married her childhood sweetheart, George Mock, and together they built a beautiful life. Gaye dedicated her professional career to RJ Reynolds's Tobacco Company in Winston Salem before moving to Austinville VA in 1982. She was a passionate manager at the Old Fort Antique Mall, where she shared her expertise and love for antiquities with others. In addition to her professional pursuits, Gaye enjoyed listening to her children and grandson play music and was an avid collector of Raggedy Ann and Andy memorabilia. Her love for music and cherished collections brought joy to her life and the lives of those around her. In honor of Gaye's memory, donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or The Lupus Foundation of America in lieu of flowers. A service to celebrate Gaye's life will be held at a later date to be announced. Chadrick S. Fink passed away at the age of 30 on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. Chad leaves behind a living mother Regina Fink, along with a brother Todd Fink and wife Amanda Fink and daughters Brenna Fink, Bayleigh Fink and son Ranger Fink. A sister Jerrellynn Fink daughter Alexis Fink and son Andrew Fink.Chad also is leaving three very special aunts: Carolyn Little, Debbie Fink, Ann Fink along with many loving cousins. Chad has now proceeded into death with his father Jerrell Fink. He also leaves behind too many friends to be able to list that Chad cared for dearly. He carried them, and the family was very close to his heart. As we all know Chad had a heart made of gold and cared deeply about helping others and he had a smile simply contagious. Though he left this world too soon, he will be remembered by the kaleidoscope of wonderful traits he had. His love was strong and true. To lose someone so precious brings a pain that can’t undo. To lose someone like Chad far before his time has truly been a devastating loss and he will never be forgotten. Charles Ernest Jackson, age 88, passed away February 8, 2024. Born and raised in Wythe County, Charles was the son of the late Ernest Bentley and Ethel Mabe Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Williams Jackson; sister, Velma “Tiny” Kirby, and Cleta Brown, one brother, Thomas Bentley Jackson. Survivors include one sister, Faye “Cub” Poole of Moneta, VA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Charles loved his family. He was most proud of being a U.S. Army Veteran and a farmer. A graveside service will be held 2 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant Community Cemetery, 200 Mount Pleasant Rd, Wytheville, VA 24382, conducted by Reverend Hugh Matlack. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Anchor of Hope Presbyterian Church, 197 Max Meadows Road, P.O. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Wayne Dunford and four brothers.Survivors include her husband, John Edward Dunford; son, Tim Dunford and wife Penny of Barren Springs; two daughters, Sandy Viars and husband Timmy and Robin McPeak, all of Max Meadows; two sisters, Til Alderman of Barren Springs and Joann Davis of Bassett, VA; a brother, James “Tooter” Gravley of Wytheville; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many extended family and friends.Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Geary Jonas officiating. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sherron Dean; two sisters-in-law, Janet Hasley and Marie Hasley; a nephew, Steven Wayne Hasley and a niece, Sheila Jordon.Garry had a heart for helping others. He loved to cook and spend time with his family. He enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. Garry was a veteran of the U.S. Army.Survivors include his daughter, Vanessa Hasley Collins; two grandchildren; his sister, Vivian Dunford; three brothers, Charles Wayne Hasley, Steven Hasley and Larry Hasley; niece, Amanda Hasley and nephews, Levi Dunford, KW Dean, Carter and Carson. Melinda Traci Wohlford, 34, of Wytheville, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 27, 2024. Born February 20, 1989, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of Carl Wohlford and Kay Sizemore. Melinda loved to be outdoors. She loved to go to the river and look for fossils and arrowheads. Melinda loved animals, especially her cats. She would light up the room when she came in and would always leave her family and friends laughing. Melinda was employed by New River Valley Regional Jail where she was a guard. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Steve and Virgie Sizemore, and paternal grandparents Clyde and Lillian Wohlford. Those left to cherish her memory in addition to her Mother and Father, Sister Christina Cotten and fiancée Jason Meadows. 2 Nieces Kasey Cotten (DayDay Peavy), Kelsey (Chase Carty). Life Partner Dani Umberger, 3 Great Nephews Jackson Carty, Jayce Carty, Cayson Peavy, Great Niece Mari Peavy. Special Uncle Ricky Wohlford.
