Edward "Ed" Savage, 98, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Southridge Specialty Care in Marshalltown, surrounded by his family. A mass of Christian Burial for Ed will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St. Mary Church beginning at 10:00 A. M. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services. Memorials in Ed's name may be directed to his family for a later designation. Edward was born July 24, 1925 to parents James and Estella (Cheville) Savage in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was one of nine children. Ed grew up in Marshalltown and attended school in the catholic school district. He graduated from St. Mary High School in Marshalltown in 1943. On October 30, 1943, Ed enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas in Germany, France and Austria during World War II. He was a POW for 10-15 minutes. He was wounded New Years eve, shot through both thighs, with the bullet still remaining in his right upper thigh. He was honorably discharged from service November 19, 1945. On May 29, 1948, Ed was married to the love of his life, Betty Essen, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Ed and Betty cherished every moment with siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. Ed worked for 30 years at Coca Cola at the Marshalltown location. He had his own route that he worked for many years. Throughout the years he had also worked for Dunham-Bush, Stewart Lumber, and the Fisher Community Center. He was an active member of his community being a part of the Central Iowa Ornithologists Club, the Marshalltown American Legion, St. Francis of Assisi Parish: St Mary Catholic Church, and Altar Society. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and was always on the slow pitch team for the Old Timer Tavern. In his free time, he enjoyed playing nine holes of golf, participating on bowling leagues, weekly meals of Little Ceasars pizza, traveling, trips with Betty to do slide programs across the state of Iowa and talking birds and bird watching. He loved to work on minor wood working projects particularly on bird feeders and bird houses. He enjoyed Jeopardy, working on crossword and word search puzzles, reading books, and loved a good game of dominoes, sequence, and cards. Ed was a "family first" man, and was known for sending birthday cards with various colors of markers that were always on time. He is survived by his siblings; Kate Hauptly, Nita Harre, David Savage; 29 nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Savage; his siblings; Chuck Savage, Paul Savage, Jimmy Savage, Aina Golly, Louie Savage, two siblings in infancy, and his parents James and Estella Savage.

Known to many, including his teammates as "Spider," he excelled at basketball during his high school career at Marshalltown High School and went on to play at Muscatine Community College. Don worked several jobs over the years, including Fisher Controls, Marshalltown Instruments, in I. T. at APAC and Iowa Telecom. Family meant everything to Don. After meeting the love of his life, Beverly "Bev" (Sievers), the couple was united in marriage on August 1, 1993. Don was a dedicated husband and father, never missing a sporting event or concert. He also spent many years coaching his little brother and his children's sports teams. He was a jokester and very social - he never met a stranger. At "five feet eighteen inches" tall, he was often referred to as a "gentle giant," with the size of his heart even bigger than his stature. He was also a member of Second Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 30 years, Bev; children: D. J. (Desi) Wilder of Marshalltown, Brad (Amy) Cox of Garwin and Rebecca (Kenneth) Zandarski of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren: Tyler, Trey, Kenzee, McKenna , Alexander, Austin, Adam, Qwinton and Andru; one great-grandson, Beckham; his siblings: David (Lynn) Wilder of Marshalltown, Diann Wilder-Tomlinson of Atlanta, GA and A. Cynthia Ann Wagaman was the only child born to parents Robert and Twyla Appelgate Wagaman on December 30, 1946. She died on December 5, 2023, at the age of 76. There are no public services or burial planned, and her cremains have been divided between her daughters in matching floral bisque urns. Cynthia graduated from Marshalltown High School with the class of 1965. She attended the American Institute of Business, graduating in 1966. After a short time of employment at Lennox Industries, she attended Marshalltown Area Community College School of Practical Nursing, graduating in 1971. She worked as a nurse for 15 years at the Marshalltown Hospital, transitioning then to Medical Records and Medical Transcription for more family-friendly working hours. Her entire working career was spent at the hospital until retirement. On September 3, 1966, Cynthia and Douglas Bruster were married in the First Presbyterian Church in Marshalltown. After having two beautiful daughters, they divorced in 1986. She dedicated her entire single life to enjoying her children and their friends, hostessing frequent gatherings with pool, movies, music, soft drinks, and lots of snacks available to their guests. She was blessed in later life to receive joyful memory reminders from her daughters' many wonderful friends who regularly participated. Growing up as an only child, she enjoyed these events almost as much as the teenagers who attended. During her marriage she was fortunate to have a wonderful mother-in-law, Evelyn Bruster, and sisters-in-law Susan Eckard and Julie Cermak. These girls were "sisters" she never expected to have, and she loved all three ladies to her dying day. In her later years she was blessed to have a special companion, Al Grabenbauer, with whom she enjoyed a quiet life of favorite videos, neighborhood walks, day trips in Iowa, and sumptuous Sunday suppers from Al's pressure cooker. Preceding her in death were her parents, Bob and Twyla, and beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, close family friends, and pets. Left to honor her memory are daughters Deidre (Lt. Col. Ret. Scott) Tasler, and their children Zachary (Melannie) Tasler, Cpt. Clay Tasler, Paige Tasler, and great-grandchildren Hayden and Esmeralda Tasler; and Jessica Copley and her children Evan (Damaris) Copley; Amelia Copley, and Gabriel Copley. Her proud parents were Donald and Frances Darlene (Gard) Schmidt. She attended Marshalltown High School and graduated with the class of 1975. On November 16, 1978, Norma married the love of her life, Anthony Wayne Coop. She dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker. Yellow rose bushes were her favorite and she enjoyed doing crafts with her hands. Family was very important to Norma, and she especially loved to spoil her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Anthony W. She was the daughter of Richard and Judith (Rhodes) Endicott. At various times throughout her life she lived in Marshalltown, Storm Lake, Colo, and Omaha, Nebraska. She was most recently employed as a telemarketer at TLC, and prior to that had worked at other telemarketing firms, several convenience stores, and for years ran a daycare out of her home. Kendall was an avid reader with a large collection of books and a particular admiration for the works of JRR Tolkien, which she was highly knowledgeable of. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was endeavored in compiling many of her family's recipes -- and she was a dedicated, long-time player of the online game "Mouse Hunt", actively engaged in the online community around it. Kendall is survived by her children -- Emily Brown of Albuquerque (New Mexico), Evan McFarland of Grinnell, Paige McFarland of Laurens, Kaleena Derby of Des Moines, and Seth Derby of Ames -- and by her grandchildren -- Issac Brown, August Brown, Lucas Levis, Owen Levis, Izaiah Derby and Camila Cortez. Jamesina was born July 18, 1936 in Dalmeny, Scottland to James and Martha (Hopewell) Donaldson. In 1957, she immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. On January 29, 1960, she was united in marriage to Patrick Peter at the St. Mary Cathedral in Winnipeg. Jamesina began a family in 1960 having two children in Canada. With Pat's Job at Swift and Co it moved them many places including Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Toronto, Ontario, South St. Paul, and eventually Marshalltown, Iowa in 1969 where they made their forever home. Jamesina worked for the Marshalltown Community School District in the cafeterias for more than 25 years before her retirement. She was active within Marshalltown serving on the Marshalltown Wrestling Club Board and the Marshalltown Little League. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and later Trinity Lutheran Church of Dillon. In her free time, Jamesina loved to read, work on sewing projects, make cookies, spend time with her family, watch hallmark movies, and court tv. She was cheering on Iowa State Athletics teams and the Minnesota Vikings. She is survived by her children, John (Julie) Peter and Bonnie (Roy) Auldridge; her grandchildren, Alex (Carol) Peter, Shelby Peter, and Mackenzie Peter; her great-grandchildren Whitley Huxford and London Peter; and one brother Alex (Betty) Donaldson; alongside many nieces and nephews in Canada and Scotland. Leonard Edward McCune, 83, of rural Toledo, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at UnityPoint Health in Marshalltown following a long illness surrounded by his family. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Clint Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home. Leonard was born on February 17, 1940, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Charles and Elaine (Bumsted) McCune. Leonard graduated from Tama High School in 1957, attended Iowa State University and served his country in the U. S. Army Reserves. On January 26, 1963, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jordebrek in State Center, Iowa. Together they had three children. Leonard worked as a plumber and electrician before farming and trucking, working many years with his father and brother, Quentin. Leonard was a longtime member of the Tama County and Marshalltown community bands. He enjoyed tractor rides, race cars, dancing, and was a fan of the Lawrence Welk show. Leonard will be missed for his humor and pranks. Survivors include by his wife of sixty years, Barb; his children, Christine (Mark) McFate, Mark McCune (friend, Teresa) and Deborah (Doug) Rassler; Also, his grandchildren, Mason and Michael McCune and Morgan and Mackenzie McFate; and brother, Quentin (Chris) McCune. Douglas Joe Ecklor was born on July 27, 1970 in Iowa City. He was the son of Danny Thomas. In 2017 on his birthday, Douglas Joe married his split-apart and the love of his life, Christine Shaun Cissy Oetker at the Church of Christ in Marshalltown. "Dougie-Bear", as his wife would call him, enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and camping. He would also spend his free time watching Sci-Fi films and shows as well as, starting, sitting by, and keeping watch over bonfires. He was known by many as the wild child of Iowa as well as the watch dog of most. He is survived by his wife Christine; his four children: Jade Baccam of Des Moines, Iowa, Courtney Ecklor of Pennsylvania, Ashley Ecklor of Pennsylvania, and Douglas Wolfe Ecklor of Pennsylvania, four grandchildren; at last head count, several siblings, including his brother David Ecklor, and cousins.
