Mr. Robert W. “Bob” Sanders, Sr., 84 of Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Zullinger, PA, passed away, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, in his home.Born December 4, 1939, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Charles David and Lily Kathryn (Diffenderfer) Sanders.Bob served with the Pennsylvania National Guards and later in the United States Army.In early years, Bob took his trade at Frick Company, Waynesboro, and later worked at small family operated machine shops for a number of years. He retired from Landis Machine Company after many years of service. Many locals would remember him as the man who delivered their newspapers for over 22 years. He delivered both the Morning Herald and the Record Herald to folks along his route from Renfrew to Zullinger.He was a member of William Max McLaughlin VFW Post # 695, Waynesboro.Bob’s love of baseball began at a young age. He played the game from Little League years up through High School. He also helped manage local Quincy teams for a number of years. When he no longer played, he enjoyed watching the game on TV. He also enjoyed woodworking, building his family many treasures over the years. He built cabinets for his home and also many rocking chairs for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob also liked to tinker on cars. He could often be found at Bingaman’s Garage.Bob is survived by his granddaughter whom he raised, Kayla Klingler (Casey) of Waynesboro; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister; Emma L. Cordell; and an aunt; Joann.In addition to his parents and lifelong partner, Brenda P. (Punt) Webber, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Sanders.The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 23, 2024 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Burial will be private in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to:  Antietam Humane Society, 8313 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Mrs. Nancy J. (Fox) Bittner, 85, of Waynesboro, PA, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Saturday, February 17, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.Born February 4, 1939, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Guy L. and Mary Jane (Kindle) Fox.Nancy was a graduate of Ft. Hill Cumberland High School of Cumberland, MD with the class of 1957. During her school days she was nicknamed “Spunky,” a title she would live up to throughout her whole life.She and her husband of over 64 years, Mr. Anthony Bittner, were married in Salt Lake City, UT in March of 1959.Mrs. Bittner had many jobs throughout her life. She started working with the CIA in Washington, DC after high school graduation and later became a mother and homemaker after she and her husband moved to Michigan with the United States Air Force. Afterwards, the family moved to sunny south Florida where eventually Nancy returned to the workforce and worked as an executive assistant. Then, in the mid-1980’s Nancy and Anthony moved back to Waynesboro, PA and she worked as a customer service representative with the publishing company, JB Lippincott.Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, boating, and enjoying life. She always enjoyed laughter and had a quick smile ready to share. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Melissa Lee (Aubrey “Ken”) of Springfield, VA, and Jeff Bittner (Tina) of Waynesboro, PA; granddaughter Aster Caitlin Lee; grandson Jett A. Bittner; sister Esther Williams of Stuart, FL; brother, Tom Fox; sister-in-law, Molly Cooper (Harry) of Harbeson, DE; brother-in-law, Andy Bittner (Lola) of Waynesboro, PA; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.A family graveside service will be held at Brown’s Mill Cemetery, Greencastle, PA.  A separate Celebration of Life service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Springfield, VA will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Rosemary (Pine) Wishard, 85, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 11, 2024.Born August 23, 1938, in Little Cove, PA, she was the daughter of the late Mr. William L. and Rhoda (Unger) Pine.Rosemary was a graduate of Greencastle High School with the Class of 1957. She went on to further her education at Waynesboro Business School.She and her husband, the late Mr. Donald A. Wishard, were married July 15, 1961. They were together for over 47 years when Mr. Wishard passed away May 14, 2009.Mrs. Wishard was a homemaker for most of her life.Rosemary was a member of Solomon’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg, PA, for over 60 years. She loved to help others, freely volunteering her time at the hospital auxiliary at Waynesboro Hospital.She is survived by her two children, Jill W. McKenzie (Thomas) of Waynesboro, James D. Wishard (Jennifer) of Waynesboro; grandchildren Leslie Kinley (Eric), Lindsay Shank (fiancé Sean Coleman), Jonathan Wishard, Jeremy Wishard; great- grandchildren Maybree Shank, Tanner Kinley, Tracen Kinley, Lincoln Shank; sister Elizabeth “Penny” Armstrong, and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother William Pine, Jr. and her infant sister, Shirely A. Pine.Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Sharon Diane (Harrison) Thompson, 79, of Waynesboro, PA, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 in Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, PA.Sharon was born October 5, 1944 in Brunswick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and June V. (Good) Harrison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Thompson; her grandson, Charles Blake Anderson; and her brother, Gary L. Harrison.She is survived by her daughter, Stacy Anderson (Robert) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; grandson, Charles D. Horton-Anderson (William), granddaughters, Serena Stallock and Justin Stallock and grandson, Steven Stallock, all of Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is also survived by her sister, Debra Campbell (Richard) of Waynesboro; nieces, Angela Myers (Andrew) of Greencastle, PA, Jennifer Baile (Barclay) of Smithsburg, MD; nephew, Charles Campbell of Waynesboro; and best friend, Debra Myerly of Waynesboro.Sharon moved from Maryland to the snowy state of Minnesota in 1973. She worked as an Accountant for many years and at her retirement she was a Chief Financial Officer for a large corporation. At the insistence of her baby sister (Debra), she moved back to the area in 2015 to be closer to her family. She settled in Waynesboro and developed many wonderful friends there. She enjoyed playing cards, attending Quarter Auctions and she belonged to the Lioness Club. Family was the most important thing to her and she was always present at all family dinners and parties. She also loved getting calls from her Sister in the late evening to come to her house in Smithsburg for a craft night – which she enjoyed, according to her Sister!. Debra finally moved to Waynesboro and purchased a home across the street from Sharon to spend more time together – sadly, that only lasted 7 months.She graduated from Brunswick High School, Class of 1962. Sharon’s class has a reunion each year and she kept in touch with her classmates, Sandra, Mary Catherine, Diane, Joyce and Gloria. She had very fond memories of her high school days and cherished the time she spent at her class reunions!A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in Ringgold Church, 14420 Barkdoll Road, Hagerstown, MD with Pastor Don Conley officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.Local arrangements are by Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro.
