"Edward Jerome "Jerry" Geraci passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday morning, April 15th, with Norma, his wife of 61 years, holding his hand and his children nearby. At 86 years old, Jerry had been struggling with hypertensive heart disease with heart failure, accompanying pneumonia and several years of a progressively paralyzing neurological disorder called PSP. The grandson of Sicilian immigrants who came to America from Termini Imerese, Sicily, Jerry was born on the Fourth of July, 1936, in Washington, DC. Entering his family's furniture business as a teen he quickly showed tremendous sales talent and thus he embarked upon a lifelong career in retail furniture sales and management. Jerry met his wife, Norma Jean Medley, in 1960 at a Catholic parish dance in Washington, DC, and they were later married in 1961. They had five children through the ensuing years as Jerry's furniture career took him all across the USA until the family finally settled in Austin, Texas in 1975. Jerry was a wonderful husband, a constant provider and a great father to his five children, drawing his inspiration from his lifelong devotion to St Joseph. Jerry was passionate about environmental issues in the 1970's and from the 1980's he also became an active promoter and defender of the Catholic Traditional Latin Mass, the Pro Life movement and Catholic culture in general. Jerry leaves behind his wife, Norma, five children including son Kenneth and his wife, Gaby, son Gary and his wife, Jessica, son Daniel and his wife, Allison, daughter Marianne and son Marc with his wife Jennifer. Additionally there are nine grandchildren (including two step grandchildren) who are Steven, Sean, Abigail, Anna, Marissa, Sofia, Isabella, Romina and Sebastian. He also leaves behind a sister, Mrs. Marion Mahoney of Emmitsburg, MD and a first cousin, Mrs. Rose Marie De Carlo of Greencastle, PA and two nieces, a nephew, several great nephews and great nieces, and many other family members and friends. Jerry's viewing and rosary service will start Wednesday evening, April 26th at 6:00 pm at a viewing and rosary chapel located at 13009 Dessau Rd, Ste M, Austin, TX 78754. The funeral Mass will be on Thursday afternoon, April 27th at 2:30 pm at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 9500 Neenah Ave in north Austin, Texas.
