Edward "Ned" Raymond Avelis, 76, of Galveston, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. He was born January 15,1947 in Freeport, Illinois to the late John Avelis, Sr. and Helen (Eckerman) Avelis. He graduated in 1965 from Schulte High School in Terre Haute, IN. He earned letters in football, basketball, track and field. He held the state title for the longest shot put distance. Ned attended Casper Community College in Wyoming on a full basketball scholarship and Indiana State University. He married Deborah Stefanatos and together they raised two daughters. Ned sold potato chips for 25 years having worked for Chesty, Seyferts, and then went on to sell cookies for Keebler for 15 years. He retired in 2011. He played all types of games. He really enjoyed sporting clays and skeet shooting. He was also a member of the Izaac Walton League and the APA pool league. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Deborah Avelis; daughters Mary Catherine (Fred Danenfelser) Avelis and Marguerite (Michael) Kissinger both of Kokomo, Indiana; siblings John (Mary Margaret) Avelis, Jr. of Champaign, Illinois, Michael (Victoria) Avelis of Virginia, James (Kim) Avelis of Terre Haute, Indiana, Patrick (Marlene) Avelis of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Terese Avelis of Terre Haute, Indiana; grandson Knight Grayson Avelis Danenfelser; brother-in-laws Joseph Ford and Randy Shaw; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents Ned is preceded in death by his two sisters Catherine Ford and Beth Ann Shaw. There will be a private family service for Ned. Mike A. Milligan, age 72, of Galveston, IN. peacefully took his final bow and left this world for the next, on September 8th, 2023 at 5:58pm from Community Howard Regional Health, Kokomo, IN. He was born April 29, 1951 in Kokomo, IN. to Florence (Tolley) and William E. Milligan. He was nearly born at the Kokomo Speedway racetrack, where his parents spent time spectating or racing! He always had wheels on! He grew up on Laguna Street in a large family of seven sisters and a brother, the oldest. Mike was the baby. . . The Caboose, as his father called him. He was a 1969 Kokomo High School (National Honor Society) Graduate. He played trombone in marching band and excelled at music, math, and history studies. He was an Eagle Scout. On June 5, 1970, he married the love of his life, Linda McReynolds. They met at Elwood Haynes Elementary School in 1965. He adored her for 58 years until his very last breath. . . Mike was a skilled tradesman tool and die cast maker for Chrysler for 30 years (1971-2001). He was UAW 1166 President from 1996-1999. He was a hard worker and he could fix anything! He loved music, guitars, motorcycles, and his family. He performed on guitar and sang in various award-winning groups such as: The Minute Men, Velvet Infinity, Buffalo, RAMM,Skyline, Radio Flyer, Little Brother, H. I. S. , and Milligan Stew. He was able to travel and perform with the Drifters in the early 1970's and opened for B. B. King! Just a few weeks before his exit, he was soothing slipping souls with his guitar and the Branded Bluegrass Band, and on stage performing to a largehometown crowd with his sons, Mike Milligan and Steam Shovel (band). The man was a dynamo! Mike was powerfully strong all of his life. . . Physically,mentally, and spiritually until the final bell but soft and gentle as a Teddy bear at times. He had 7 older sisters! He was a fighter. He had to be. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda (McReynolds) Milligan; his children, Michael (Suzanne) Milligan, Shaun (Stacy) Milligan, and Kelly (Matt) Ryan; 5 grandchildren, Logan Ryan, Raven Milligan, Maceo Milligan, Reah Milligan, and Lilyanne Milligan; sister Dee Milligan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Billy Milligan; 6 sisters, Betty Hodge, Lula Belle Gargus, Thelma Emry, Patsy Lanning, Mary Jo Turnpaugh, and Dixie Lancaster; grandson, Nolan Ryan; special nephew, Chuck "Chuckles" Kenimond; and Charlie Blue. Be Strong. Be Brave. Be Fearless. The Caboose has left the Station. . . A memorial celebration will be held Friday, September 15th, 2023, 5pm-7pm at Bennett's Switch Community Church, 2261 W SR 18, Kokomo, IN 46901. Paul Wayne Krauss was born on October 4, 1941 in Charleston, MO. He lived 81 years filled with cherished memories. Paul was a man of great love for those he called family. He was a loving son, husband, and father, an adored grandfather and a cherished friend. Paul is survived by his wife Norma M. Krauss of Walton and their two sons Bill Krauss of Galveston and James Krauss of Carmel, along with their wives Christina and Irene respectively. He was a proud grandfather to Megan Spinner (Xavier), Michaela Carpenter (Angie), Madison Carpenter, and Hailey Krauss. His sisters Mary Kuykendall and Yvonne Marbry will always cherish the memories they made. Paul was preceeded in death by his brother Billy O. Krauss Russell D. Krauss, and sister Sue Figley. Paul was known for dedication to his country, serving in the Navy and Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant United States Air Force. He was a man of great love and compassion. Paul had a love for his community and helping others. He was dedicated to making donations to his local food pantry. Ensuring that no one went hungry was something he felt strongly about. Molly Jean Bermudez of Apple Springs, Texas, was born on October 11, 1937, in Galveston, Indiana to Lawrence and Mary Stanley Mote and passed away to her eternal home on January 5, 2023, at the age of eighty-five years. Molly is survived by her children: daughter, Cathy Arnold of Kokomo, Indiana; son, Clay Cuthbert and wife, Tamara of Apple Springs, Texas; daughter, Chris Cuthbert of Groveton, Texas; daughter, Connie Smith and husband, Joseph of Apple Springs, Texas; daughter, Billie Jo Casner of Onward, Indiana; grandchildren: Felicia Van Natter and husband, Heath of Kokomo, Indiana, Josh Barker and wife, Felicia of Lufkin, Texas, Cameron Viren of McMinnville, Oregon, Mikey Gerik of Apple Springs, Texas, Thomas Gerik and wife, Krystal of Hudson, Texas, Katy Wells and husband, Joseph of Apple Springs, Texas, Olivia Smith of Apple Springs, Texas, Kenneth Smith of Apple Springs, Texas, Tianna Casner of Onward, Indiana, and a host of great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends also, survive. Molly is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Mary Mote; and sister, Linda Lee. Molly loved being a mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. In her youth she enjoyed horseback riding, hunting and fishing trips with her father, being active with her school activities such as 4h, homemaking and square dancing. She also enjoyed watching game shows, the home shopping network, and of course she loved to watch westerns. Molly also loved to sing karaoke and knitting blankets for her loved ones. Visitation for Molly Jean Bermudez will begin at 10:00 a. m. , on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in Nogales Prairie until funeral service time at 11:00 a. m. with Bro. James Whittlesey officiating. Burial will follow the services in Calvary Cemetery in Nogales Prairie, Texas.
