Paul Hamman

Age - 72

December 2, 2023

Paul F. Hamman, 72, of Barnegat, NJ passed on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Paul Frederick Hamman was born in August 1951 in Tonawanda NY to Eugene and Gertrude ( Schopf ) Hamman. He was involved in Cub Scouts and Church activities in his youth. This experience led to his studying pre-seminary courses and graduating from Concordia Jr College in Bronxville, NY (1971) and Concordia Sr College, Fort Wayne Indiana (1973). Although he left the pastoral studies to enter the business world he always maintained his kind and caring attitude in a challenging and demanding environment. In 1973 he married his wife Nancy (whom he called "Pixie") and they lived in Missouri, Conn. and lastly New Jersey. Paul had a successful career with Moore Business Forms which was acquired by R R Donnelley and Sons. He worked and managed form development with the company for many businesses including Stanley Tools, CitiBank, AT and T ( all sites up and down Rte 287 ) and finally onsite sales at Hertz Corp. He was a member of their Achievement Club and President of the Club once as top" Salesman for the Year". Paul was involved with his sons, Shaun and Corey, and their activities. He wanted to afford them a chance to try various experiences. He once spent an entire day laboring on a lobster boat in Maine along side his son to afford Shaun the opportunity to try the experience he requested. He coached many a soccer and baseball team while encouraging Corey to develop his passion for the sports he loved. Corey turned his interest of baseball into a professional career. Building balsa planes from kits was his relaxation. They were detailed and took up to a few years to complete. But, he always said he was a builder not a flyer. He left that to the professionals! In retirement he enjoyed volunteering at Pheasant Run at Barnegat. He was on the Board of Trustees and served terms as President. He was always ready to lend a hand where needed. Thru family travels with his parents or car driving with his wife across the country, he managed to see every state with extended excursions to Alaska and Hawaii. Trips to Bermuda were very special too! Medically Paul challenged his doctors. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent a Whipple procedure. Given a slim chance of survival he shared his experience with others to be an example of surviving against the odds. 18 years later he credited his doctors and medical care with extending his life. Recently he was overtaken with Parkinsons disease. But this too he fought to keep the illness from defining his life. Paul is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy, and his sons Shaun ( and Heather ) of Clearwater, Fla. and Corey ( and Karen ) of Forked River, NJ. and his Granddaughters Natalie, Brie and Madelyn. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 1-4 PM followed by a Celebration of Life 4:00 PM at Barnegat Funeral Home, 841 West Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ. (www.
