Obituary of Edna Phillips Gideons Edna Phillips Gideons, 101, went to her heavenly home April 24, 2019. A Graveside Funeral Service celebrating her life will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday April 27, 2019 at Lakeview Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Brian Beane. Edna was born in Moore County September 26, 1917 to the late Robert C. Phillips and Swannie Davis Phillips. She met her beloved husband of over 60 years, Orrie "Jack" Gideons, in the textile mills of Greensboro. They had their only child, Wayne, in 1946 and were lifelong residents of Greensboro. She retired from Wesley Long Hospital after many years of dedicated service. A few of Edna's passions were reading the Bible daily, gardening, and loving her Family. Her family will remember fondly her Chicken and Dumplings and talking over coffee and biscuits. Edna was most recently a member at Glendon Independent Christian Church in Carthage, North Carolina. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her; son, Orrie Wayne Gideons; granddaughter, Michelle Gideons Young; great-granddaughter, Breylin Young; great-grandsons, Austin Young and Rachel, and Jack Young, and many extended family and friends. Family and friends are invited to fellowship at Michelle's home after the Graveside Services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Glendon Independent Christian Church, 2240 Putnam Glendon Road, Carthage, North Carolina 28327.
