Edna Mae Gibbello 1924 to 2022 Goodbye! Until we meet again! (Hawaiian) Aloha a hui hou makou / (Italian) Ciao! Finche non ci incontreremo di nuovo Edna Mae passed away at her daughter's home surrounded by family and loved ones on June 18, 2022. She had a fulfilling life as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Edna Mae was born January 14, 1924 in Napa, CA to Alfred Guisti and Marguerite DeSilva Guisti. When she and her sister were young they were brought up by Eletta and Raymondo Bertolucci. She attended Napa Union High school and left there in 1942. During the 40's war time, most women had to work. She worked for Rough Rider Inc. for many years. During the time Rough Riders was contracted by the Army to make uniforms. She use to tell this story of ladies who weren't married, leaving a piece of paper in a jacket pocket with the name and address in hope to find a service man. Mom met the love of her life John Domenic Gibbello in 1945. They were married on June 2, 1946. Had two children. Joanna was born in 1949 and Johnny was born in 1952. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 1971. John unfortunately passed away 1974. After her husband passed she went back to work. She worked for Joes Auto Top, Royal Draperies, Ida's Draperies and Browns Valley Market. The most things valued in her life revolved around her family and friends. She belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Napa, CA for 80 years. She also belonged to Order of Sons of Italy Napa Branch 2043, and currently in life long Emeritus status. During her lifetime she has experienced many things. They are: In the 40's sketching pin-up girls for the service men and the love of animals. Crocheting many items. Motorcycle riding with John in the 40's and 50's. Starting bowling in 1955 to for 55 years where she was on many scratch leagues and participated in many competitions. She taught Polynesian dancing since 1965 until the 1990 and had her own dance studio. Her real passion was go-kart racing (going at speeds from 25 to 80 MPH) in which she had won several events with trophies during the 1960's), a great Italian cook, in which made the best malfatti's, still did gardening as she has a love of all kinds of flowers many types of roses and gladiolas. She loved NASCAR in which Jeff Gordon was her favorite. If given a chance to ride in a NASCAR, she would be in the car in a flash. She had an opportunity to go to Daytona Race track one time. She also like tap dancing re-started that up after many years. The many vacations our family went on were fun. We were the first batch of people in Disneyland in 1955, camping in Yosemite, go-karting all over the state of California, Santa Cruz, visiting the states of Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Hawaii. Mom visited Hawaii many times due to her Polynesian dancing. She is survived by he daughter Joanna Thompson (Ross), her grand-daughter Alicia Thompson, son John Gibbello and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She pretty much outlived everyone. Predeceased family Rita Franceschi (sister), Elio Bertolucci (brother), Helen Johnson (sister). Edna Mae will be greatly missed by her family and friends and those who helped her during her lifetime. The family wishes to convey special thanks to all her doctors, and health care workers.
