Edmund Charles Wild, age 92, passed away on September 29, 2023 at Mebane Ridge Assisted Living in North Carolina, with his two children at his side He was born in Rockville Centre, New York to Edwin Fred Wild and Magdalena Hedwig Navratil Edmund (Ed) married Genevieve Carr on January 11,1953 and together they lived in New York, California, Utah, and North Carolina Ed was raised in Lindenhurst, New York and graduated from Lindenhurst High School where he played football, baseball, and ice hockey He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Ed saw heavy combat, working on the front lines as a forward observer and in the 24th Signal Company Ed received a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University (Potsdam, New York 1958) and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University (Palo Alto, California 1960) In 1960, Ed joined General Electric's Advanced Electronic Center (Ithaca, New York) and then moved to General Electric's E-lab (Syracuse, New York) in 1965 While at General Electric, Ed and his engineering colleagues worked on the initial development of computer graphics visualization for use in pilot training In 1972, Evans and Sutherland Computer Corporation (Salt Lake City, Utah), recruited Ed and his two colleagues With the partnership of these three engineers, Evans and Sutherland pioneered the development of computer graphics and visual simulation for military and commercial pilot training simulators and CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing) Ed stayed at Evans and Sutherland through 1988 and worked in several key leadership positions, as director and vice president In 1988, Ed was recruited by Sun Microsystems, to lead their Engineering Visualization Products and Graphics Products Division in Raleigh, North Carolina Ed retired from Sun Microsystems in 1994 Ed was a person of integrity, courage and honesty and he treated everyone with kindness and respect Throughout his life he helped those who were less fortunate with both his time and financial support His wisdom, curiosity, thirst for learning and intellect were exceptional, and he enjoyed mentoring and developing others Ed's keen sense of humor provided for many amusing stories which he loved to share Ed is survived by his daughter Jennifer Payne, son Edwin Wild, son-in law Thomas Jeffery Payne, daughter-in-law Kelly Wild, and grandchildren Sean Wild and Audrey Wild Ed was predeceased by his wife of 68-years, Genevieve Wild and sister Francine Wild Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E 3300 S , Salt Lake City, Utah A visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Ed will be laid to rest at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park For those unable to attend in person the funeral will be live-streamed by visiting the obituary on the day of the service In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to the charity of your choice

Karen entered this world on April 25th, 1958, and stepped back into Heaven on November 29, 2023. Her parents, Alvin Graehl and Marilyn Rasmussen cherished their beautiful baby girl. She became a loving mother, sister, daughter, friend and daughter of God. She grew up in a happy family with seven kids and went to Bella Vista, Butler Junior High and graduated from Brighton High School in 1976. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission from 1985 to 1987 in New York City. She married in 1989 and even though that relationship ended in divorce, her greatest blessing and love of her life - her son Alex, came from that relationship. She felt blessed to be his mother and friend. She loved her family and friends. She was the life of our family and participated in many family reunions and parties. She loved her heritage and worked tirelessly doing genealogy and family history research, providing hundreds of names for temple ordinances so her family can be together forever. Karen loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and her mantra was "replace fear with faith. " Her greatest loves were: Alex, faith, family, friends, Butterfingers, Squirt soda pop, good food, "Delights" chocolates from Mrs. Cavanaugh's, homemade caramels, the color blue, the ocean, beaches and her beloved dog PI, who understood everything she said to him. She was a talented seamstress, cook, artist, crafter, gardener, and much more. She was compassionate, generous, funny, kind and caring and loved to help others. We will miss her greatly! Survived by her son, Alex Lewis (Brea); brothers: Tom Graehl (Marie), David Graehl (Angie), Jim Graehl (Jessica); sister, Sally Graehl; sister-in-law, Laraine Graehl; brother-in-law, Mike Evans; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; all of whom adored her. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Mark Graehl; and sister, Libbie Graehl Evans. There aren’t words enough to express our family’s gratitude and thanks to the many ward members, neighbors and friends who loved and faithfully served her. And especially Brea and Alex, for their devoted care through this very difficult time. Karen's favorite thought: "When life is over… all that's left is love. George Jones

George Lyman Jones peacefully returned to his Heavenly family on December 1, 2023 at his home, with his sweetheart and family members by his side. He was born the third of four sons to Ralph C. Jones and Eunice Thorpe Jones, in Newton, Utah on August 25, 1934. George grew up in Newton, played football as the captain for North Cache High School, and was honored as a North All-Stars team member. He loved growing up on the dairy farm in Newton and had only fond memories of his time in Cache Valley. After high school, George served a mission in Finland for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Upon his return, he attended Utah State University and earned a degree in Civil Engineering. In addition, he served in the Utah and Alaska National Guard for five years. He met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Mead Jones while finishing his degree. They married and were sealed for time and eternity in the Logan, Utah Temple on July 20, 1961. Their honeymoon consisted of driving to Juneau Alaska, for the first of many Professional Engineering jobs he would accept in Alaska. They immediately started their family of six children: Tammy, Todd (Angie), Darren (Heather), Devin (Dori), Celinda (Matt) Downs, Melissa (Andy) Severy. George loved his Engineering work and the numerous adventures it led him to, from the North Slope working on the Alaska pipeline to the desert mines of Nevada and jungles of Costa Rica. He was involved in numerous civil engineering firsts and cutting-edge projects throughout his career because of his willingness to, "go where the job was". He was also a loving and exemplary provider for his family. His example of the benefits gained from hard work and honesty were felt by all who knew him. George was a diligent servant within his church. Serving in whatever capacity he was assigned. He led the construction and building of the first LDS chapel in Juneau, AK while serving in the bishopric. His favorite church service was side by side his wife, as temple workers in the Houston Texas Temple. George cherished time spent with his kids and grandchildren, especially Yellowstone trips or as a Houston Texas tour guide, when family came to visit the "big city". Growing up in Cache Valley he loved all the outdoors had to offer, sports, skiing, hunting and fishing. His true passion was the joy found in a good day's hard work and the feeling you get from a job well done. He is survived by Evelyn, his beloved wife of 62 years; 5 children; 19 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren (with one on the way). George was preceded in death by his daughter, Celinda; a grandchild; parents; and three brothers: Norval, Boyd and Trevor. He felt great comfort in his knowledge that hugs from his daughter and family were but moments away. Respecting his final wishes, a small immediate family service will be held to honor and celebrate his life next summer at a date and location to be determined. TOM NIXON HAS LEFT THE BUILDING! TOM NIXON IS DEAD! Charles Thomas "Tom" Nixon passed away at the age of 73 on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. Tom can most certainly be described as "One hell of a character" and He would have been proud of the headline to this obituary. . . His words! He was passionate about his family and friends. His love was undeniably desperate. If you were lucky to be on the other end of the phone or voicemail while he was "D&D" you knew he loved you. If he told you "You're looking especially beautiful", you believed him. He would frequently tell inappropriate stories and dirty jokes (that he often came up with himself), or would sing countless songs asking you to join in harmony. He was extremely intelligent and seemed to know something about everything. There was a time he most definitely should have been a contestant on Jeopardy for his mind-blowing wit. Yet, he would claim he didn't know where his daughters or grandchildren got their smarts from because it surely wasn't him. He was opinionated and stubborn. He didn't always act nice or say the right thing, but he would eventually seek you out and say, "Are you still mad at me?" After the apology, he would eventually end the conversation with, "Guess what?. . . I love you!" He loved going up into the canyon for hiking, skiing, fishing, and celebrating nature. He also favored golf, basketball, and marathon running, but most especially spending time with those who ventured out with him. He was a gift to all who knew him. Tom was the proud and loving Father to three daughters, Jamie (Troy), Phyllis (Jim) and Sally (Greg). He was married to Cheryl whom he loved for 30 years. He is also survived by his siblings Kevin, Sue, Rick, Jen and Jake and their families; his five grandchildren Thomas, Morgan, Sawyer, Daniel and Liam; former wife, Mary, two step-children, Chris and Becca and their families, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Phyllis, Father, Dick, Step-mother, Jeanne and two step-children, Emilie and Brandon. Obituary Svitlana Holm, 55 Svitlana Vladimirovna Holm, 55, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Svitlana was born November 14, 1968 in Pavlograd, Ukraine, the daughter of Vladimir Tsykalov and Olga Moloshnaya. Svitlana grew up in Ukraine, where she attended school. She moved to Greeley, Colorado on May 16, 2014. In August of 2017, she moved to Kemmerer, Wyoming, where she attended beauty school. On June 30, 2014, Svitlana married Brett Dayle Holm in Greeley, Colorado. They were sealed in the Rexburg LDS Temple on July 2, 2015. Svitlana was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in February 1993. She met her future husband, Brett, in the Frankfurt, Germany temple. Svitlana proudly gained her citizenship on September 29, 2023. She enjoyed gardening and cooking Ukrainian dishes. She loved cutting hair. She also loved attending the temple. Svitlana is survived by her husband, Brett Holm; her children, Anna McKeon of Corona CA, Alan Holm of Blackfoot ID, Erik Tsykalov of Kemmerer WY, Charles Holm of Blackfoot ID, Amanda Cochran of Pocatello ID, Regina Drake of Scottsbluff NE and Heather Holm of Pocatello ID; grandchildren Darii McKeon, Archer McKeon, Alice McKeon, Ember, Lillianna, Haven, Kaida, Oliver, Addison Holm, Brooklynn, Kairi Cochran and Lucia Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vladimir Tsykalov and Olga Moloshnaya. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the Riverside 1st Ward LDS Chapel. Therese Frey

Therese Betty Margarethe Guertler Frey, best known as Resa, passed away peacefully in her home on November 22, with her children by her side, holding her sweet hands. Her one wish was that she could be in her home until she passed, and her children are immensely grateful that her wish could be granted. Resa was born in Hamburg, Germany on November 30, 1929. During World War II her father was drafted into the army and her mother cared for Resa and her siblings. In 1943 they traveled by train one weekend to visit her mother’s sister. While away, Hamburg was completely destroyed, as were all their possessions, with the exception of the suitcase her mother had packed for the trip. They were relocated to Southern Germany where they were kept safe for the remainder of the war. Blessedly, the family was reunited in 1947 and Resa’s parents together with her younger siblings immigrated to Salt Lake City in 1951. She and her younger brother immigrated a year later. The following year she met Karl Heinz Frey, also an immigrant from Germany, and they had four children, Stephen, Norman, Eveleen and Tom. In 1972 they separated and Resa became a single mom. She rallied herself and her children in such an awe-inspiring way and identified a path to the happiest existence anyone could ever dream of having. They worked hard, supported one another, loved each other and still very much do to this day. Resa ultimately found herself working as a secretary for the East High Seminary and couldn’t have choreographed a better scenario – same school schedule as her children and working for the church. She loved it so much she worked there for 35 years, never took a sick day, and retired at the age of 80. During her lifetime she had many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Cub Scout Den Mother, Young Women’s Leader and Ward and Stake Relief Society President. Her father introduced Resa to the Grand Teton National Park in 1952 and her soul would forever more be filled with a love for nature. She then instilled that same passion within each of her children. In her 60’s she and her two younger sisters began backpacking in the Uintah’s, a tradition that lasted 20 years. Resa was loving, kind, selfless, patient, forgiving and forever faithful to her testimony of Jesus Christ. She has left an indelible impression on the hearts of so many, especially her children and grandchildren, which will be felt into the eternities. Charles Christensen

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Curtis, passed away peacefully in his home on November 26th, 2023 after enduring the painful effects of cancer. Born on May 23rd, 1942 to George Leon Christensen and Miriam Doris Charles of Salt Lake City, he was the oldest of three children and spoke often of how much he enjoyed his childhood growing up by the Capitol Building and spending time with his siblings and parents. Curtis also greatly enjoyed the opportunity he had to serve the people of Manchester, England as part of his LDS mission. Curtis returned from his mission and attended Tradetech (now Salt Lake Community College) where he furthered his love of automobile and machine repair, and worked at Kennecott Copper repairing large diesel trucks for over 40 years. Curtis married Yvonne Turner on February 25, 1965, and together they dedicated their lives to raising two daughters, and later their grandchildren. Even into his 80th year he was driving his granddaughter to and from school, until his health would not allow him to do so. Curtis was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who faithfully and joyfully held many callings. Even after completing his full time mission, Curtis’ heart continued to turn to service; many times serving family, friends and neighbors with his talents, which included fixing every car that came his way. Many nights were spent working on cars in the driveway and in his garage, and the smell of the oil still reminds us of his cheerful smile as well as his tireless work. Curtis loved music and had a beautiful tenor voice. He sang with the Oratorio Society of Utah for 15 years. He played the trumpet as a young boy and taught himself how to play piano and ukulele. Curtis would make Thanksgiving dinner for his family, and delicious hash browns on Christmas morning, all while taking pride in taking care of his yard. We will miss you dad! He is survived by his wife, Yvonne;, daughters, Rebecca Burggraaf, Elizabeth Seal (Scott Seal); grandchildren, Carolyn Henrie (Dallan Henrie), Abigail Burggraaf, Chelsea Burggraaf, Savannah Burggraaf, JJ Baker, Emily Baker, Aubrey Baker, Jack Baker; and great grandchildren, Daniel and Scott Henrie. Jose Miera

Age - 87

Jose Antonio "Tony" Miera joined his bride of 55 years and entered heaven after a long battle with Vascular Dementia on November 27th, 2023, at the age of 87. Tony, as he preferred to be called, was born on August 27th, 1936, in Lyden New Mexico to Antonio Jose Miera and Candelaria Garcia Miera. Tony married his high school sweetheart, Darlene LaRae Greenfield on February 7th, 1956, and together they had 7 children, one of which was born "sleeping". One of Tony’s greatest accomplishments was the development and building of 11 custom homes in West Valley City, Utah which bears the name of "Miera Lane". It was during this time, among others, that he taught his children the value of integrity, honesty and hard work. While Tony worked in many different trades, his final one before retirement was an electrician. Tony loved to go camping with his wife, children and extended family where hours were spent playing card games like Domino Train, Hand and Foot and Checkers. You couldn’t keep the man in one place for very long before he was ready to embark on the next adventure. He loved to travel and he did so by the seat of his pants, just waking up one day and saying "lets go" to his wife. Tony loved the Lord with his whole heart and loved to attend church no matter where he was visiting. Tony also absolutely loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and in the final years of his life he played and laughed endlessly with the little greats. With his mind deteriorating and becoming more childlike he created bonds with the little ones that I know they will remember for years to come. Those left to cherish his memory are his 6 children, Mark Miera (Teresa), Mike Miera (Stacey), Terry Staples (Joe), Paul Miera (Sandy), Kelly Miera and Joann Shreve, as well as 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, his siblings Eloy Miera, Stella Milligan, Josephine Kimball and Frankie Miera. He was welcomed "home" and reunited with his wife Darlene who had been patiently waiting for him since April 2011. Kiefer Rainey

Kiefer was born to Kris and Lauri Rainey in Englewood Colorado on Thursday November 15, 1990, bringing much joy and happiness to their lives. On November 28, 2023, after he quit breathing and his heart stopped, we know our Heavenly Father said to him, "You have endured enough it is time to come home. Hurry you have many loved ones waiting and I have much work for you to do. " We are comforted in knowing that there was a wonderful reunion with his Grandma and Grandpa Fisher, Michael, Erica, Danny, Dustin, and many, many others too numerous to mention. In the few short years Kiefer was on this earth, he touched so many lives and truly made a difference. He had a heart of gold and was very generous, often sharing all he had left with those who might be less fortunate. When he spoke to you, he saw you and you knew he cared. You could trust him; he had your back. Kiefer was a very grateful person and often expressed his sincere and heartfelt appreciation, verbally thanking others all the time. Anyone who met Kiefer was instantly drawn to his good looks and his charm. Those big brown eyes drew you in and then he sealed it with that great smile, or his famous smirk and the twinkle in his eye. Kiefer was creative and passionate about making music and was a gifted artist. He loved learning and was often seen reading or studying. He really enjoyed his scriptures and spent time pondering over all of the standard works. He was the most patient, impatient person you ever met. He had time for the old, the young and the disabled, but those in between had better get moving, there was always something else to do, another ride to get on. You had to keep up or you were going to be left behind. Kiefer had a very witty and intelligent sense of humor. He loved to laugh and found playing practical jokes on others a good way to pass the time. You might have expected it to be him, but could never be quite sure because he always kept it low key and anonymous. The silent giggle and the shoulder shaking usually gave him away. Kiefer was athletic and loved the outdoors; whenever he could be outside, he was. He was awesome on a skateboard, and spent many hours enjoying that sport. He loved to hike and being in the mountains was the best, a close second, put him in or near water and he was happy. He enjoyed hockey and lettered in high school, playing for the Alta Hawks. Kiefer earned his Eagle Scout. He had a special place in his heart for little critters. He loved animals and often told his sister that Bonham was really his dog, and she just had visitation rights. He even tried to keep a baby skunk as a pet one time but that didn’t work out so well. Kiefer has a strong soul and throughout his life he never gave up and he always kept trying to be and do a little better. He was such a great example of do the best you can each day, even if it is only little strides. Kiefer is survived by many who will miss him dearly including his father, Kris, his mother, Lauri and his favorite person in the whole wide world, his little sister, Tienna. He is also survived by his grandparents, Ted and Carlene Rainey, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends all too numerous to mention. Kiefer has taken the broken pieces of our hearts with him, and we long for the day we will be reunited to be whole again. Until then, YOU LOVE US and WE LOVE YOU! Dorothy Snelson

Dorothy "Dot" Snelson, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, age 92 passed away peacefully on November 30, 2023 from complications of Covid. Born on December 28, 1930 to Harry Bolton and Edna (nee Waugh) Bolton in Manchester, UK and raised in the Heaton Park area of Manchester. Dorothy often regaled us with stories of her childhood during WWII during which Manchester was heavily bombed. After Dot finished school she worked for the General Electric Company which is where she met her future husband, Eric, on the company tennis team. They were married after four years on March 31, 1951. Dorothy and Eric enjoyed travel and often rode their motorcycle the length of England to holiday in Cornwall. Dorothy was a flight attendant in the late fifties and traveled the entire world. She would send Eric a postcard from every new city and he kept every one in an album which is still in the family. Dorothy and Eric joined the LDS Church in 1958 and were married in the London temple in 1959. Nine years and four children later they emigrated to America and set up home in Utah. Both Eric and Dorothy loved the mountains and even build their home so that the front window faced Mt Olympus. Over the years Dorothy worked in various capacities including retail sales at Felt Buchorn, ZCMI, and Mervyns, and her beloved time as nanny to the Lofgren and Safford children. Dorothy enjoyed music, travel, the theatre, flower arranging, crafts, painting, her little dog - Willie, and could often be found painting rocks or birdhouses with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded by husband, Eric, sisters Marjorie and Patricia, brother Ken. Survived by children Yvonne (Don), Nick (Cathy), Clive (Kathy), J Elizabeth, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews in the U. K. Funeral services will be held at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E Bengal Blvd (7600 South) on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 12:00 noon. DWAINE "Tweet" Lyman BETHERS Dwaine was born on July 9, 1938, in Daniel, Utah to Lyman Henry and Ernestine Jacklin Bethers. They always said he was a very cute little boy. He enjoyed playing with his brothers and had his older Sister Velma to keep them In line. When Dwaine was around 4 the family moved into a new home in Heber City, Utah at 765 South Main Street and the family all grew up in that home. It was where the Panda Express now stands. He was not a great student, but he always had a lot of friends. A teacher once told his mother he could tell him all about what was being taught but he had a hard time writing it down. His Dad loved trucks, so he was always in the trucking industry in some form. Lyman and his sons all hauled coal and sold it for a few years and then went into road construction, which meant not being at home all the time. One year Lyman had a job in Las Vegas and some of the family lived there for one year. Dwaine attended Las Vegas High School his sophomore year before the family went back to Heber where he Graduated from Wasatch High School. After graduation he worked in the trucking industry. His brother Ray had a trucking company and he drove for a while and then worked in the office as a dispatcher. When Ray sold the company to Swift Trucking, Dwaine was taken along as a Dispatcher for them in the Salt Lake office. He married the love of his life, Ethel Bannon, in 1982; later divorced. He gained a Stepson, Daughter-in-law, and granddaughter he stayed close to for life. He made trips to visit them in Okinawa Japan when they were based there and to Florida. On one of his trips to Florida he visited The Villages and fell in love with the area. He spent the winter months there and the summer months in a Cabin above Kamas. The first few summers after he retired, he drove trucks for a couple of days a week to earn golf money so he could play with his friends in Kamas and Heber. He had a good life. At one time he also worked part-time delivering new trucks, mostly to Canada. He saw a lot of the country when he was doing that. He made friends everywhere he went. He has always been a big BYU Football fan and had season tickets to their games for many years. He made two trips to Hawaii to watch the Cougars play. He was talked into leaving Florida and moving out West to be closer to family a few years ago. He bought a home in Pahrump, Nevada and spent the winters there. About 4 or 5 years ago he was out on his morning walk and had a serious stroke. He recovered but has had some health issues since then. A year ago, this past May, Dwaine was making his annual trip to Kamas from Pahrump. When he got to Heber, he stopped in Heber to visit his brother Ray who was at Spring Gardens. He fell as he went in the side door and needed help to get up. Ray called his daughter Chris who in turn called his niece Patti Clyde to come help Dwaine. She has been helping him since that time. His Sisters Velma and brother Ray both passed away in the Fall of 2022. Lorin passed away 5 years ago. His remaining family consists of his sister Ruth, her husband Raymond, and Sister-in-law Marilyn Bethers. As well as many nieces and nephews along with his stepson Rick and LeeAnn Bannon. His family is thankful for the care he has had at Rocky Mountain Care Center, and the friends he made. He was able to get around and visit with other residents and the many people he has known all his life who come by there. He Loved to visit. Dwaine became very ill after watching his beloved Cougars play their last game on Saturday night.
