Edith Wescott It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and friend, Edith Wescott. Edith, affectionately known as "Edie", passed away late into the evening on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023 at her apartment in Mississauga, Ontario. Edie's eldest daughter, Judy, was by her side. Edie lived a life full of family and friendship until the remarkable age of 100. She was truly something to aspire to be and was the gem of our family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her daughters, Judy (Danny) and Connie (Norman), her grandchildren, Michelle, Lisa, Shawn, Heather, Shillann and her great grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Rachel, Jacob, Jonah, Rian , Aven and Luna. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews along with their families and by the many friends, acquaintances, and neighbors she met along the way. Born on December 10th, 1922, in Pembroke , Ontario, Edie was the second youngest of 12 children. She met her husband, Allan, while he was stationed in Petawawa. They married during World War 2 and soon after, moved to Toronto where they raised their two children. Edie was a dedicated mother, but she was also active in the workforce and enjoyed a career of delivering excellent customer service. Retirement never slowed her down, fuelled by her love for children, she became a childcare provider, touching the lives of many young children who still hold very fond memories of their time with her. She was a social butterfly, chatting it up with someone and befriending others was a daily occurrence, never missing the chance to meet someone new. Edie always had a heart for the less fortunate and always lived life with a gratitude for what she had. She valued her health and often attributed her long life to her dedication to being active. She was a woman born before her time, fiercely independent and was never afraid to speak her mind. She always stood up for what was right and simultaneously embodied strength and femininity with such ease. Seen as a true legend to those she leaves behind, Edie will be greatly missed.
