Edith Oborn Obituary

Edith Thomas Oborn, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 6, 1945, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Walter Thomas and Florence Foutz. Edith moved many times throughout her life and spent most of her years in Salt Lake City, Idaho Falls, and the Ogden area. She graduated from Weber High School in 1963. On August 28, 1964, Edith married and was sealed for eternity to the love of her life, Dean LeRoy Oborn, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. Together they had three children, Chad, Staci, and Allie. Edith's compassion, creativity, and supportiveness shone brightly throughout her 78 years. Her loving nature was the cornerstone of her family, creating an environment of warmth and acceptance. As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in many callings and capacities. However, the calling of mother and grandmother to 10 grandchildren brought her the most joy. Throughout her life, Edith had the ability to make and keep friends and was loved by many. Her involvement in Camenae, Home Interiors and Gifts, and several years as owner and manager of the Sun Loft introduced her to many people who became dear and lifelong friends. Edith embraced her many hobbies with a vibrant spirit and unmatched zeal. Her creativity was beautifully expressed in the way she decorated her home, a skill she honed while selling home decor items for many years. She enjoyed looking for animals during drives through the canyons and an occasional game of golf. She was always pleased to tell of her "hole-in-one" at The Barn. In retirement, she and Dean traveled to many places throughout the world. One of her favorite places to visit with her family was Yellowstone National Park. Edith leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dean Oborn; her loving children, Chad (Pattie) Oborn, Staci (Greg) Wilson, Allie (Ryan) Bruce; and her caring brothers George, Morgan, Alton, and Neil Thomas. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Thomas and Florence Foutz. The Oborn family would like to express their love and appreciation to the caregivers at The Lodge in North Ogden, Dr. Firth and the Applegate Hospice staff, and Edith's many friends for their love, care, and concern for her. She will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 15, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, located at 845 S. Washington Blvd. , at 11:00 AM, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 AM.
