Sue Ann Diehl, 68, went to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23, 2023 after a brief but valiant fight with brain cancer. Born on January 8, 1955 to Einer and Jeanne Jorgensen, Sue was a middle child with a mighty personality. A gifted athlete and cheerleader, she graduated from Greenville High School in 1973, and recently reconnected with classmates to plan their 50th reunion celebration. She married her high school sweetheart, Mark Diehl, and together they enjoyed the adventure of 48 years of marriage. Sue's optimism, creativity, green thumb, powers of observation, ability to find things and fix things, and Kringle making magic are only a few of her many gifts. Sue worked for many years at Jorgensen's Super Market, the family business, and her produce department reflected her flair for beautiful display and quality. In recent years, Sue found enjoyment in her work with the Flat River Museum, especially in the garden. Sue brought whimsy and fun and laughter to every space she was in. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne and Einer Jorgensen; Mark's parents, Dick and Barbara Diehl; and her brother-in-law, Brian Diehl. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Mark; children, Jerad Diehl, Marci Diehl, and Carley (Zeb) Brimmer; siblings, Pam (Will) Nichols, Paul (Ann) Jorgensen, Lori Jorgensen, and Debbie (Gary) Huch; and Mark's siblings,Coke (Carl) Sorensen and Deb Diehl. Grandma SuSu was significant in the lives of her twelve grandchildren and delighted in supporting their activities. She made lasting memories with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sue's spirit and smile will remain with all who knew her. A joyful celebration of her life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Ray Booth American Legion Post 101. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society of a charity of one's choice. Show more

William L. (Bill) Johnson, 80 years old of Newaygo, passed away on Thursday evening, September 21, 2023. Bill was born in Greenville, Michigan in 1942. His parents were Raymond and Marian Johnson. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1961. Bill went to Central Michigan University and received a Bachelor's degree in 1965 and a Master's degree in 1970. In 1967 Bill met and married Judy Johnson of Newaygo. This event changed the entire course of his life. Prior to the marriage in November, 1967, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and became a dedicated Christian. Judy was a tremendous partner and assisted Bill throughout his life in building a successful family, career and church life. She was always the apple of his eye. Bill and Judy have two wonderful sons. Dave (Denae), the oldest is an Edward Jones rep in the Grand Rapids area. Dan (Marcy), the younger son, is the owner of Newaygo Insurance Agency in Newaygo. Both sons and their families are faithful to the Lord. The Johnsons have nine terrific grandchildren, Andrew (Dani), Shelby (Ben), Lindsey, Grace (David) and Katie (Kyle). All the grandchildren have made commitments to Christ as part of their life and are good citizens. There are also 5 great grandchildren. They include Nathan, Emma, Jolee, Hayden and Kyler. Bill is also survived by his dear sister, Carole and her husband Joe DeGennaro of Kentwood, MI as well as his dear sister-in-law, Diane, her husband Al Wright and family of Great Falls, MT. Bill Johnson had a very interesting set of different careers during his lifetime. His first career was in teaching. In 1968 Bill and Judy moved to Ironwood, Michigan and Bill began teaching Political Science at Gogebic Community College. In 1975 Bill moved on to his second career as he became the Legislative Assistant to Congressman Phil Ruppe. The Johnson family moved to Northern Virginia and Bill worked at the US Capital in Washington, DC. In 1978 Bill embarked on his third career as the Washington Representative for Consumers Energy. In 1982 he became the Vice President of Government Affairs for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company. He was a very successful lobbyist having significant influence on many important facets of energy legislation at that time impacting the entire nation. In 1985 Bill changed to his fourth career. He became the VP of District Operations for Michigan Consolidated Gas in Grand Rapids. He was responsible for all natural gas operations in GR, Muskegon, central & northern Michigan and the U. P. In 1990 Bill and Judy moved to Kansas City where Bill became the President & CEO of the Gas Service Division of Westar Energy. Bill & Judy enjoyed life in KC for six years. In 1996 Bill was named Chairman, President & CEO of Semco Energy and the Johnsons moved to Port Huron. Bill took early retirement from Semco in 2002 and he and Judy moved back to Newaygo. Then, came career number five. Bill started a consulting business, The Berean Group, LLC and for the next 20+ years assisted businesses and non-profits in West Michigan with strategic planning, leadership development and many other matters of importance to them. He served well over 100 clients during this time. During all the moves and career changes Bill & Judy stayed true to their first love. They kept a strong commitment to Christ and the church. They worked together in building strong and growing adult Sunday School classes at each church they attended over 50+ years. They were equally committed to their family. All their children and grandchildren attended Christian schools growing up. The Johnson family remains active in their church and have solid commitments to the cause of Christ. Funeral services for Bill Johnson will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Newaygo (1546 E. 82nd Street) with Pastor Tim Shaw officiating. Visitation will also be held at the church from 5:00-7:30 PM on Thursday, and from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday. Interment will be at Bridgeton Township Cemetery. Jamison Allen Lafferty, precious son of Justin and Aleeson Lafferty and beloved brother of Karlee Lafferty, was taken into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Jamison was born August 4, 2009 in Greenville. Jamison was a shining light in everything that he did! He had a contagious smile and loving heart! He loved Jesus, His family, and all His wonderful friends! Jamison could always make you laugh, and he would do anything to see somebody smile! He loved sports and was an amazing teammate! Jamison always gave 110% in everything that he did, but most of all, in having a loving, caring heart! Jamison was an incredible Son, Brother, Grandson, Cousin, and Friend - and will be in our Hearts Forever! Sherrie Lynn (Dale) Wybenga, age 62, of Greenville, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 14, 2023. She was born June 8, 1960, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Ahlan Dale and Judy (Darling) Vereeke. Sherrie married the love of her life, Jack Wybenga on July 20, 1984, at Murray Lake. Throughout the years Sherrie nannied for multiple families and loved the children she cared for, David, Gerrit, Louisa, Max, Harry, and Joan. Sherrie loved life and loved to laugh. She enjoyed taking walks on the beach, visiting Silver Lake, and travelling out west, but most of all she loved spending time with her dogs, husband, family and friends. She was a member of Beth Haven Baptist Church in Sheridan where she met many dear friends. Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Jack; mother, Judy (Denny) Vereeke; brother, Jeffrey Dale; sister, Christi (Tim) Vanderband; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nick (Jane) Wybenga, Flo (John) Kremer, Mary (Jon) Bieri; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Sherrie was preceded in death by her father, Ahlan; sister, Cynthia Bird; in-laws, Frank & Tena Wybenga; special friend, Patty Boyle; and her faithful companions, Alex, Lizzy, Rosie, Rizzo, and Hunter; and her cat, Gizmo. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm (Noon) at Beth Haven Baptist Church, 1158 W. Carson City Road, Sheridan. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers donations to cover medical bills and expenses would be appreciated.Show more
