Mr. Earl Gordon "Bud" Parker, age 78, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on March 25, 1945 in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Dora Ellen Smith Parker. He married Priscilla Lane Owens on October 14, 1976 in Madison, Indiana. He grew up and lived his whole life in the Jefferson County community. He retired from farm work in 2012, after 24 years working for Phillip Burkhart. He also was a taxi cab driver in Madison for 11 years. Bud enjoyed fishing, and had a love for bowling. Bud died on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 9:33 pm at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Bud will be missed by his daughters, Laura Elaine Parks of Madison, Indiana, Betty Beach of Madison, Indiana; his sons, Alex Parks of Madison, Indiana, Robert Parks of Madison, Indiana, James Parker and his wife, Alycia of Milton, Kentucky; his sisters, Georgetta Scott and her husband, Ronald of Madison, Indiana, Bonne Beard of Kent, Indiana, Marcella Brooks of Hanover, Indiana, Emma Dean of Madison, Indiana, Ellen Hord of Scottsburg, Indiana, Lynn Sixkiller of Madison, Indiana; brother, Ted Parker of Jacksonville, Florida; his sister-in-laws, Polly Parks of Madison, Indiana, Harriet Grubbs of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Roosevelt Parker, his mother, Dora Ellen Smith Parker Newman, his wife, Priscilla Lane Owens Parker, died June 25, 2020, his sisters, Anna Williams, Mary Catherine Robinson, Libby Evans, and his brothers, Marshall, Gene, and Johnny Parker. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 6:00 p. m. , by Bro. Dan Corbin at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow at a later date in the Springdale Cemetery,600 West Fifth Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Mr. Donald Lee Sargent, age 74, of Milton, Kentucky, entered this life on July 20, 1949 on King's Ridge in Trimble County, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late Charles Tillman and Margaret I. Schmidt Sargent. He was raised in Trimble County residing there all of his life. He graduated high school from Trimble County High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on October 27, 1970 in Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rate of Specialist Four serving in Battery A. 2nd Battalion 138th Field Artillery during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged on May 11, 1971 at Fort Benning, Georgia and transferred to the Reserves and was discharged on May 4, 1976 receiving the Kentucky State Active Duty Ribbon with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal. On January 18, 1969, Donald was united in marriage to Barbara Carol Wright at the Milton Baptist Church in Milton, Kentucky. This happy union of 50 years was blessed with a son, Brandon Lee. He was a faithful member of the Mt. Tabor Wesleyan Holiness Church in Trimble County, Kentucky. Donald was a collector of things such as clocks, GM cars, Corvettes and loved Cadillac's, and truly enjoyed his property. He enjoyed socializing with people and truly never met a stranger. Donald worked for the State of Kentucky as a diesel mechanic for over twenty years. He was also the owner of Persimmon Hill Towing Company for many years. He loved his dog, Gracie Lynn and the companionship over the years. He was bestowed the honor of Kentucky Colonel and was extremely proud of that accomplishment. Donald died on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 12:39 a. m. at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Donald will be missed by his dearest friends and caregivers, Jacklyn and David Fink, along with their children, Taylor, Garrison, and Jack of Milton, Kentucky; his son, Brandon Lee Sargent and his wife, Chris of Seymour, Indiana; his granddaughters, Ashley Sargent and Morgan Sargent; his sister in law, Nancy McClure Sargent of Milton, Kentucky; his brother in law, Norman "Butch" Wright of Milton, Kentucky; his uncle and his aunts, Phil and Betty Wright of Madison, Indiana, Gayle and Margaret Wright of Atlanta, Georgia; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Tillman Sargent, died August 6, 1984, his mother, Margaret I. Schmidt Sargent, died July 3, 1976, his brothers, Charles J. Sargent, died January 4, 2009 and William Eugene Sargent, died September 11, 2023, his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Carol Wright Sargent, died August 7, 2019. Mr. Thomas James Scroggins III, age 75, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on June 8, 1948 in Jefferson County, Indiana. He was the son of the late Thomas James,Jr. and Amanda Frances Dean Scroggins. He has resided in Jefferson County and resided there all of his life. Tom was a 1967 graduate of Southwestern High School. Tom was inducted into the United States Army on June 20, 1967 in Louisville, Kentucky. He rose to the rate of Specialist Five serving during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on March 26, 1970 at Fort Lewis, Washington receiving the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and Unit Citation Badge, and the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars. Tom was a self-employed contractor owning Scroggins Construction Company for many years. He was a member of the Madison VFW Post No. 1969, the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion, and the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524. Tom enjoyed arguing politics, watching college basketball and football. He loved Indiana University Sports and watched as often as he could. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball and basketball. Tom died on Monday, November 13, 2023, his home in Madison, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Tom will be missed by his loving sister, Nancy Wheeler of Hanover, Indiana; his loving brothers, Michael Edward Scroggins and his wife Ria of Madison, Indiana, Richard "Dick" Scroggins and his wife Shannon of Hanover, Indiana; his sister in law, Brenda Scroggins of Hanover, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas James Scroggins, his mother, Amanda Frances Dean Scroggins, his sister, Dora Ellen Scroggins, his brothers, Harry Gladden, Dave Bennett and James William Scroggins, and his sisters in law, Sharon Bennett and Kathy Scroggins.
