Patrick W. Candow passed away peacefully on December 4, 2023, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Rosemarie (nee Greskowiak), and their children. He was a devoted and loving father to Rose (Tom), Donald Triesel (Sarah), Patrick (Sue), Niki Canoyer (John), Joe (Sarah), and Steve (Leanne), and the cherished grandfather and great-grandfather of sixteen. Patrick is survived by his brothers Bill (Bernadine), Gary (Ivadell), Mike (Adria), and sisters Marie Cook (John) and Karen Burke. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Patrick and Virginia Marie Candow, older sister, Joanne Dugan, and brother-in-law, Rick Burke. Patrick loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings were always marked by cornhole tournaments, pick-up football games, playing catch, conversation, and laughter. He was a natural all-around athlete who enjoyed playing all sports and running. However, Patrick's lifelong sports interest was playing basketball. From the time he was young, Patrick played year-round. He would shoot around or play basketball whenever the opportunity presented itself, and it is a passion that he instilled in his children and older grandchildren, a passion now passed down to his younger grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Patrick had a gift for making kids laugh, especially babies and toddlers, who would laugh hysterically from hearing his Donald Duck impression, playing peek-a-boo, or being chased around by him. He also had a million-dollar smile that could light up a room. His whole face lit up when he smiled, and you couldn't help but smile if you were near him. Patrick lived his dream of being a truck driver. One of his favorite sayings when other drivers were confronted with difficult and narrow roadways or parking spots was, "I could fit a Mack truck through there. " The family will receive friends from 4 pm -8 pm, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2023, at Donlon Funeral Home, 15408 Triskett Rd. in Cleveland. The funeral mass is at 10:00 am. , THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2023, at St. Luke Church, 1212 Bunts Rd. in Lakewood.
