Dwight Collins, 72, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in St Cloud, Florida He was born October 25, 1950, in Morgan County, Kentucky a son of the late Kelly and Maggie Lykins Collins In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Sue Fairchild Collins; and a sister, Melody Akers Dwight was owner of Trav-Mart Inc in Rush, Kentucky and served honorably in the Army National Guard He enjoyed collecting and restoring old cars and spending time with his family and friends Survivors include a son, Travis Collins and wife, Kimberly of Ashland; brother, Hal Collins of Morehead; sister, Gwen Tackett and husband, Rollie of Pikeville; grandchildren, Zachary Collins and wife, Grace, Alexis "Lexie" Collins and Jaxon Collins; step grandchildren, Shelby (Nathan) Jones, Thomas Keating and Emily Keating; and two step great grandchildren, Will and Theo Jones A celebration of Dwight's life will be held 11:00 a m Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13TH STREET CHAPEL A private entombment will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p m until 8:00 p m at the funeral home To share a memory of Dwight or to extend condolences to his family, please visit: steenfuneralhome com

Carl Lee Blankenship1945-2023Carl Lee Blankenship, age 78, of Ashland, KY, passed gently away on October 23rd, 2023. Carl was born on March 6th, 1945. He was the blessing of the late Homer Lee and Hazel Gertrude Blankenship. He grew up to love the outdoors and spent most of his time hunting, fishing, and trapping. I guess you could say he was a skilled Appalachian Mountain Man. Carl was a proud Blackfoot Indian descendant. He was a devoted father to his only daughter, a loving brother, uncle, and friend. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Carl leaves behind one daughter Hazel Ward of Ashland, KY, three precious grandchildren Anna Traugett, Thomas Noffsinger and Eugene Noffsinger. A host of Brothers and Sisters, nephews, nieces, and extended family members. In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his loving wife Anna Mae Shaffer Blankenship. Pauline Canafax Biggs, age 92, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She was born Tuesday, January 13, 1931, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Herbert and Nettie Kiser Canafax. Pauline was a native of Olive Hill, Kentucky, although she lived most of her ninety-two years in Ashland. She obtained a secretarial certification from Morehead State University, which provided valuable in her cherished role as both life and business partner, with her late husband Robert Gail Biggs, especially during his twenty-six year plus career as an Ashland area realtor. Pauline was working for The Department of The U. S. Navy, in Washington, D. C. , when she and Gail began their more than sixty year married life. A beloved mother of five children, she also relished every minute of her role of grandmother and great grandmother as well, making each and every one of this brood feel special with the genuine interest in their daily pursuits. A sought after listener among her far reaching circle of family and friends, Pauline very typically came up with encouraging words for all who engaged her counsel. Pauline enjoyed a good laugh or a quiet meditation with daily scripture readings in equal measure. Her calming, cheerful demeanor in each and every day was a virtue cherished by all who knew and loved this very real "Angel Among Us. "In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Gail Biggs; one son, Ricky Allen Biggs; one grandson, Jonathan Crum; four brothers, Homer Canafax, Everett Canafax, Paul Canafax, Raymond Canafax; one sister, Marie Fields. Pauline is survived by two sons, Randall F. (Athena) Biggs of Hardeeville, South Carolina, Ronnie L. (Dana) Biggs of Cattletsburg, Kentucky; two daughters, Lola (Rick) Mayne of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Lisa (Jeff) Crum of Flower Mound, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, Michael Mayne, Kipp (Vickie) Mayne, Robby Biggs, Chris Biggs, Josh Lyle, Cassie Biggs, Lauren (Aaron) Horner, Shauna Biggs, Katelyn Biggs, Kelsey (TJ) Burge, Bethany (Ron) Gehringer, Baley (Bryan) Rakes, Austin Crum and Heather Crum; seven great-grandchilden, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her. Graveside services will be held 4 p. m. , Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Garvin Ridge Cemetery, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Pastor Keith Menshouse officiating. Sharon Bench Sweeney, 76, of Ashland, KY passed away November 14, 2023 in Cincinnati, OH with family at her side. Daughter to the late William Bench and Lois (nee Martin) Brumfield. Sharon is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Steven Sweeney and sister, Nancy Bench. Sharon is survived by her brothers, John (Cheryl) Bench and Bill (Barb) Bench. Loving aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. To know her was to love her. Sharon cherished her family, her friends and her church with all her heart. She and her husband spent many happy years on their 44 acre farm in Ashland, KY. They collected antiques and even owned and operated the Central City antique mall in Huntington, WV. Sharon was a faithful member of the Ashland Seventh-Day Adventist Church and a long-time employee for the Ashland Oil company. She enjoyed reading, gardening, bird-watching, and a delicious home-cooked meal shared with family and friends. Frank James "Frankie" Di Lego, 52, of Ashland, KY passed away unexpectedly on November 15, 2023 at his residence. He was born on June 20, 1971 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Frank Charles and Diane Dean Di Lego of Ashland, KY. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Cheri Reeves Di Lego and a stepson Brandon Hobbs of Ashland, KY, a sister Patricia Ann Layton of Winter Garden, FL and a host of good friends and co-workers. He attended Holy Family Catholic School and graduated from Paul G. Blazer High School. He also attended Eastern KY University in Richmond, KY. Frank was employed by Bob Evans for 17 years at the Cannonsburg, KY location. Frank enjoyed his job at Bob Evans and all of his co-workers and friends there. He also had a small lawn care business for selected clients and neighbors. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, golf, hiking and rock collecting. Frank also enjoyed metal music in his spare time. He was a fun loving and gentle soul and was loved by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Leona G. Epperson, 81, of Ashland, KY, went to be with the Lord November 11, 2023. Preceded in death was her husband of 35 years, John E. Epperson, Jr. In addition to her husband, was her parents Charles and AnnaBelle McDonald, and her three brothers Charles (Sharon), Sam (Patricia) and Patrick McDonald. Left behind to honor her memory are her four sons, John "Eddie" (Michele), Chris (Tina), Sam (Theresa) and Brian (Wenda), eight beloved grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. Over the years she worked as a cook for various places including Chevron on Winchester Avenue and Pathways. She loved to cook and many people enjoyed eating her meals. You could usually find her sitting on her porch watching the squirrels and bird and looking at her flowers especially her roses. John Fullerton

Age - 82

John Drexel Fullerton went running and shouting into the arms of Jesus on November 9, 2023. He was 82 years old. He died at his home with his sister Nancy and brother-in-law Gary by his side, as well as his Kingsbrook Lifecare Center family whom had provided loving care and opportunities for a social and meaningful life. He loved them in return. He was also under the care of Community Hospice for the past two weeks whom also provided exceptional care and support. John was born the third child of the late Claude "Bud" Drexel and Jessie Louise Harris Fullerton on March 27, 1941. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by sisters Mary Jo Baum and husband Richard of Deltona, FL and Norma Jean Weidenheller and husband John T. , of Ashland. John had the disadvantage of being born with Cerebral Palsy, but lived a life of love and attention from his family, who included him in all their activities. In the years at Kingsbrook, he enjoyed playing Bingo, going out to eat with the residents and especially participating in the senior Olympics every fall at Scioto County Fairgrounds. Nancy and Gary would always go with them to the games. He was very observant and would always keep the staff in line if they missed something! He is survived by his baby sister Nancy Edmond and her husband Gary of Ashland, two nieces Gail Baum Bennett and husband Leland and their daughter Katelyn of Loudon, TN, Cathy Edmond Hanson and husband Joe and their son Mussie of Marengo, OH, their daughters Sarah and Brandon Wheeler of Marengo, OH, Emily and Joel Mullen of Louisville, KY, three nephews David Baum and wife Diane of Lakewood, CA, David Edmond and wife Mindy and their children Ryan, Jesse, Megan Edmond of Anderson, SC, Richard Edmond and wife Kelley of Oceanside, CA and their son Hunter of Ft. Hood, TX, their daughter Haley of Columbia, SC and five great nieces and nephews, Rylie, Teagan, Ben, Johah and Myles. Billie Jean Snell Steen, 75, of Ashland, KY passed away on November 9, 2023 at her residence. She was born on October 25, 1948 in Ashland, KY to the late William M. and Blanche Wheeler Snell. Jean was a registered nurse and retired from KDMC after 18 years of service. She was also a member of Second Freewill Baptist Church. Jean was very involved in a quilting group that made quilts for Hospice. She also made over 200 dresses for Dresses for Africa. Jean also loved working jigsaw puzzles and reading. Her passion was traveling with her husband John as they explored the United States, Canada and South America. Dusten Fuller, 34, of Ashland KY, passed away on November 6, 2023. An amazing husband to wife, Jenna Fuller, and loving father of two beautiful daughters, Kadi & Kylee Fuller. Dusten graduated as an RN from Collins Career Center. He went on to work at a few hospitals, and then decided to travel, making countless friends everywhere he went. His heart & home was at CHH with his SICU family. Dusten always had the love and care of Melanie Dishman nearby. He was blessed to have Anita (Shawn) Stevens, Heaven (Drew) Knuckles, and Gauge to call family. Dusten is now reunited with best friend and brother Baun McKenzie.
