"Duane Wesley Hall was born on August 25, 1936, in Shelton, Nebraska, the son of Wesley and Margaret (Schepers) Hall. Duane was a 1954 graduate of Lexington High School. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a Supply Specialist from 1958 to 1960. He began his career at Home Federal Savings and Loan Association in Lexington in 1960. Duane married Dona Beth Margritz on October 15, 1961, in Lexington, Nebraska. They moved to Nebraska City, Nebraska, in 1963 where Duane began a long career as President and CEO of Midwest Federal Savings and Loan. Four daughters were born to this union and there are now nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In 1991 they moved to Harlan, Iowa, where Duane was the manager of Town and Country Credit Union. A move in 1993 took them to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where Duane served as President of the University and Community Federal Credit Union. He retired in 2005 and they moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Throughout his life, Duane was very community minded. At various times, he was active in and served in leadership roles of the Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and the Elks Club. He was elected to the Nebraska City Board of Education where he served as President. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank Board of Topeka. Duane and Dona were lifelong members of the First United Methodist Church. Duane enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing, and attending Dance Club with Dona. He was a devoted family man and loved to beat everyone at cards. He will be remembered for his sage advice, unwavering support, and booming laugh. Duane is survived by his four daughters: Deanna (Tom) Tirrell, of Tulsa, OK; Denise Martineau, of Broken Arrow, OK; Deborah (John) Chapin, of Neenah, WI; and Donette Hall, of Tulsa, OK. Grandchildren include Alex (Sarah) Tirrell; Maggie Tirrell; Kylie Martineau; Payge Martineau; Sydney (Lane) Hodge; Becca (Josh) Esser; Libbi (Josh) DeLaPaz; Isaac Chapin; and Ruby Hall. Great-grandchildren include Ava and John Kin, Wesley and Griffin Esser, and Dona DeLaPaz. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Margaret, and by his beloved wife Dona in 2019.
