Douglas Eugene Stukes, age 76, a resident of Eddy, Texas went home to be with Jesus on September 9, 2023, at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Eddy, 100 Washington St. , Eddy, Texas 76524. He was born January 3, 1947, in Corsicana, Texas to parents Harley Eugene Stukes and Valley Stukes Williams. His parents divorced when he was very young, and his father eventually remarried. Douglas and his three younger siblings were adopted by his stepmother, Carolyn Jane Stukes when he was 10 years old. Douglas was a jack-of-all-trades throughout his life; he was good at many things. He worked as a lineman for TPL (Texas Power & Light), as a shred mill operator for M. Lipsitz & Co. , and as a truck driver for McGuire Trucking, from where he retired in 2020. He was a scoutmaster and thoroughly enjoyed his time with the scouts. Douglas was a kind and loving man who never failed to help anyone when and if they needed it. He was a devout Christian and even on his deathbed he would very quickly let you know that he was blessed and highly favored despite his circumstances and "to live is Christ to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21). He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lorena but later attended First Baptist Church of Eddy. Douglas was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Stukes; father, Harley Eugene Stukes; biological mother, Valley Stukes Williams; adopted mother, Carolyn Jane Stukes; sister, Brenda Gayle Boedeker; and two brothers, Alex Claude Stukes and Ralph Wayne Stukes. He is survived by his son, John Paul Stukes of Eddy, Texas; stepson, Teddy Wayne Bell of Killeen, Texas; grandsons, Ray and Michael Bell; great granddaughter, Kana Bell; three brothers, Kenneth Hart of Texas, Patrick Wayland Stukes of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Travis Allen Stukes of Brownsville, Texas; sister, Dorothy Carolyn Stukes of Eddy, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Douglas never met a stranger and was loved by everyone. If desired, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Eddy, Texas.

She was born on December 13, 1953 in Mercedes, Texas to parents, Alb and Margarette Hester. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 36 years, Roy Clifton, her parents, Alb and Margarette Hester; brothers: Allen Hester and Larry Hester;and sisters: Patsy Klompenhower and Brenda Hall. Carol was a local to the Porter/Conroe area and came from a big family. She was a daughter, a mother, a sister, aunt, cousin, a memaw, a great memaw, and a friend to so many people. Carol had a passion for plants and gardening. She loved traveling and her dog Paige. She was a photographer before the digital age and a caretaker to her husband for many years. She later cared for her disabled brother and was a very independent woman that didn't stop until the very end. Ron Sheffield passed away Sunday, June 4th in the comfort of his home in Eddy, Texas. He was born in Grove Hill, Alabama on June 21, 1954 to Henry and Patsy Sheffield. He met his beloved wife in Dallas and they shared forty-three years of marriage before her passing in 2021. They had a son, Ronnie Langston, and a daughter, Kelly Elayne. He worked in the chemical distribution industry for several decades and made many lifelong friends among his colleagues before retiring to a slower-paced life in the hill country in 2019. Ron was an extraordinary individual, a blend of quick wit and intellect that left us in awe. His mind was razor-sharp; he could find humor in any situation. Whether through a clever one-liner, a well-timed pun, or a brilliantly crafted joke, he had a way of turning any gathering into a laugh-out-loud affair. He always brought joy and laughter to others. Beyond his humor, Ron possessed a brilliant mind that was always hungry for knowledge. He was a lifelong learner, an intellectual explorer seeking wisdom and understanding. He read constantly and could engage in meaningful conversations on a wide range of subjects. He had a unique talent for making complex ideas accessible, sparking curiosity, and igniting a love for learning in those around him. Amidst his intelligence and wit, Ron's true pride and joy were his roles as a devoted husband and a one-in-a-million father. His love for his wife Patricia was a beacon of light that guided their journey through life. Together, they built a partnership grounded in deep understanding, unwavering support, and laughter that echoed through the years. Their story was a testament to the power of a strong and loving bond, filled with a plethora of inside jokes. As a father, Ron was a mentor and an endless source of inspiration for his children. He nurtured their minds, encouraged their dreams, and led by example with his insatiable curiosity and creativity. He used humor as a tool to teach life's lessons, using laughter as a bridge to impart wisdom, instill values, and create cherished memories. His children grew up surrounded by love, mirth, and an unwavering belief in their limitless potential. In addition to his role as a family man, Ron's impact extended far and wide. He was a beloved friend and a cherished companion. Whether it was a social gathering, a work place meeting or simply a chance encounter, Ron's infectious laughter had a way of lighting up the room and bringing people together. Valorie Kay (Bass) Teeple was born on September 19, 1969, in McGregor, Texas. She passed from this life on April 5, 2022, at her home in Eddy, Texas. A memorial service will be held on April 23, 2022 at Oakcrest Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. The service will begin at 2pm with a visitation to begin an hour prior. Valorie was the daughter of Connally and Freda Bass. She was raised in McGregor, Mount Calm and Bruceville-Eddy. She graduated from Mclennan Community College with an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy with Honors. Valorie and Keith Teeple were married on July 22, 2011 in McGregor. She loved spending time with her precious grandchildren and her many dogs and she loved all animals. Her heart held limitless space for family, friends, all God's creatures, as well as, the patients she passionately cared for as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Hillcrest hospital, Scott and White hospital, Santa Fe, and Marlandwood West nursing home. She loved and was loved by her patients and coworkers. Valorie was preceded in death by one daughter, Valorie Nicole Rice and one brother, Rusty Bass. She is survived by her husband Keith of Eddy; her children, Holly Moreno and husband Daniel, Shawn Leger and wife Amanda, Shianne Andrews all of Eddy, and Hailey Teeple of Sedalia, Missouri; her parents, Connally and Freda Bass of Eddy; one sister, Bonnie DeLeon and husband Albert of Eddy; one brother, Wes Bass and wife Alisha of McGregor; and four grandchildren, Madisynn, Brantley, Daniel, and Jordan, 4 nephews, 4 nieces, and 1 grandnephew.Show more

Interment will follow at Noble IOOF Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley's Funeral Service. Tommie was born October 7, 1921 in Floydada, Texas to Glenn Davis and Docia Vera (Barham) Denison. Tommie was raised in Texas, and enjoyed crocheting, going to garage sales, gardening, and cooking. She married Henry Freemon Dye, and they had 7 children. After Henry's passing, Tommie later married Bob Fisher, and they had 1 child. As her children grew up, she was their biggest cheerleader, encourager, and guardian. Tommie loved spending time with all of her family, enjoying a good fish fry, or other family function. Obituary1st Sergeant Roger E. Redmond USMC (RETIRED), age 70 of Eddy, Texas, passed away on August 16, 2021 and is headed on his final adventure. Roger was born and raised in Amsterdam, New York. Roger was a highly decorated United States Marine Corps 1st Sergeant who served his country faithfully for over 20 years. Upon retiring from the USMC, he was employed by the City of Waco, Dwyer Group, and Edoctec Technologies, Inc. in Information Technology for over 20 years. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1969. Roger was an avid camper and outdoorsman; he loved camping off the grid, off-roading, overlanding, and traveling the United States and internationally. He recently completed his goal of visiting all 50 states. He enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with his family and friends. He was happiest being out in nature and in his camper with his wife Susan, and faithful dogs Diesel, Sydney, Jake, and Jax. He especially loved his time with his daughter Sandy, son Scott, and grandchildren Isaac, Erin, Rebekah, and Anna Rose. Roger loved to cook and prepare camp meals with his camping group. He will be missed by his countless travel buddies and celebrated around many campfires. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; William and Jesse Redmond, parents; Edward and Elaine Redmond, and sister, Bonnie Kenna. He is survived by his wife Susan Redmond; daughter, Sandy Martinez and her husband Armando; and his son, Scott Redmond. He is survived by his sisters, Amy Marotta and her husband Wayne, and Paula Sumigray, his brother Edward Redmond and family. He is also survived by grandchildren Erin Redmond-Correa and her husband Ricky, Isaac Redmond and family, Rebekah and Anna Rose Martinez, great-grandson, Zander Redmond; 18 nieces and nephews, 29 great nieces and nephews and several cousins. Roger's request was to be cremated; his remains will be spread across the country that he served and travelled throughout his lifetime. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2019, at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel, in Gatesville, Texas. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery, Gatesville, Texas.
