Obituary of Douglas Mitchell MOIRA - With heavy hearts the family of Douglas W. Mitchell, 79, announce his passing Thursday (Feb. 7, 2019) at his home. Doug was surrounded by the love of many family and friends. Arrangements are with the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Born September 4, 1939 in Canton, NY the son of the late Alonzo and Lena (Bashaw) Mitchell. He attended Brushton-Moira School. He united into marriage with Beverly Dora, she predeceased him in 1989. Doug was a gifted mechanic who could fix anything, especially his beloved International Tractors. Since 1973, he has owned and operated Doug's Repair Shop in Bombay. He loved hunting, fishing, tractor pulls, watching wrestling, listening to old time country music on Saturday nights, especially "MOLLY B", however he treasured the many times spent with his family and friends. Treasured memories will be forever in the hearts of his companion, Pauline Parmeter of Moira, his daughters- Jennifer Mitchell and her companion Colleen Bellew of Allentown NH, Diane (Bruce) Degon of Constable NY, his son- Wayne (Karen) Smith-Ashley of Constable NY, and a daughter-in-law Susan Dora, of Moira. As well his companion's children: Christina (Craig) Tucker of Brushton NY and James (Tammy) Gardner of North Lawrence NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brent Dora, Stacey Dora, Stephanie Dora, Jermy Turner, Janelle Dora, Kayla Dora, Michael Dora, Jeremy Degon, Adam Degon, Joseph Degon, as well as 22 great grandchildren and many extended family members. He also leaves behind his special little dogs: Abby & Sadie. He is survived by a brother Fred (Arlene) Mitchell) of Brushton NY, and many cousins, friends, nieces, and nephews but especially a special nephew Steve (Joan) Russell of Moira NY. Besides his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a son Douglas Dora in 2002, and a daughter Tammy Ashley in 2003. He is also predeceased by his siblings: Charlie Mitchell, Alonzo "Robert" Mitchell, Betty Russell, Theresa O'Jida, Vera Deschamps, Donald "Joe" Mitchell, Jean Mulverhill, Eleanor Curtis, and Phyllis Marshfield. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday (Feb. 13) from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Flint Funeral Home, Moira. Funeral services will be held Thursday (Feb. 14) 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is set for May 18, 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery Bombay . Memorial contributions in Doug's honor may be made to the Alice Ballard Hospice Fund.
